Look at the date you have completed on each of the eight and see if it is correct. The one time mine was off it was telling me I'd read fewer than I had and it was because I hadn't issued a reading completion date on it.

If Regina's suggestion doesn't fix the problem, you might want to check the GOODREADS FEEDBACK group. There's a thread for BUGS where you might post your problem to get the attention of the Goodreads staff.

When I had this problem it turned out I had put the wrong year on the completed date on one of my books.

I'm having the same problem, and I've checked for the obvious errors.

I had the same problem yesterday. It's because I had marked read on two editions of the same book. And, now that Goodreads lets you "reread" it was counting it twice.

Funny, I also had this problem today. I marked a book as read on my ereader and separately on Goodreads, and it counted it twice in the challenge. That has never happened before
