How do you select a fiction book to read?

You can also try out books based on your age group.
I highly recommend Agatha Christie, a crime fiction author. One of her works, And Then There Were None, would be a great starter.
Hope this helps.

I also go for readalikes - if I like a certain book, I will rely on algorithms to tell me what other books are similar or what others who liked the book are reading. Amazon and goodreads do this quite well. If I find a reviewer in goodreads who has similar or interesting taste, I will follow them.
It also helps to build a community of friends who read (can be virtual) so you can regularly recommend books to each other. After a while, you will know each other’s preferences and can then make good recommendations. I do this regularly too and push titles to friends and colleagues.
Hope this helps. :)

Nowadays, I base my search on lists that's widely available online from goodreads to other sites such as: http://bestfantasybooks.com/ (my favourite search site for my favourite genre at the moment).
Am i the only one, who got problem choosing a fiction book to read? I find myself browsing for a long time at the Fiction section, always find it hard to settle on a book to read.
I tend to read non-fiction, or "classic" fictions more.. I am trying to expand the genre, and read from different topic now.
How do you select? :)
Thanks in advance!
M
