How many books can you read in June?

June is a time for sun, fun, vacation, and travel! Try and include at least one book where summer vacation or travel play a big role in the story.

Can anyone suggest a book that fits the criteria above?

How Stella Got Her Groove Back would be perfect for this theme, but I have already read it.

I was thinking of using Wench, but I want a more 'cheery' book as a back-up.

Has anyone read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? It seems to fit the bill.

Or maybe Sag Harbor? It works too.

Well..I've been wanting to read One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia. It's young adult fiction, but it'll be my read for the June.

What about The Wedding by Dorothy West ... did that take place during the summer...would that be considered a vacation?

I read YA Lulu! One Crazy Summer seems fun. I will put it on my list.

I looked at The Wedding, but don't they all live there year round. I don't know.

Oh I thought they lived in New York. I don't know...don't mind me. LOL

I liked Sag Harbor - it is a vacation book - coming of age - if I had to compare it - probably would to the movie - The Inkwell.

Passport Diaries: A Novel by Tamara T. Gregory.

This is a light funny read about a Black woman who travels to London, Paris and Greece.

I am actually reading a book that fits this category so my read will be:

Bittersweet by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore

Yay! Good to hear that about Sag Harbor and Passport Diaries looks really good.

Hi Lulu! Just thought I'd share...One Crazy Summer is fabulous! My boys and I read it as a read-aloud last summer and we all enjoyed. There's a sequel out now, P.S. Be Eleven. We're looking forward to reading it this summer. Enjoy! :)

Too funny, Lulu! I don't know who lives where in The Wedding but it was already on my list and has been on my list for a minute and it still sounds good to me. I think it would be a great read for June or sometime this summer...here goes! Gonna try and make room for this one too! Lol! :)

I'm going to check out both of those Kanita. I need to finish THE WEDDING, had to read it in high school and well...u know how those high school readings go. Lol

Lol! Oh, I know...and all too well, Lulu! Me too...I think I've added the majority of the better literature and novels "read" during my school days to my ever growing to read list for a revisit or reread. Lol!

I meant to add this but I read 32 Candles for this one. I think it qualified, they did a bit of travelling

My only 5 star was Anne of Green Gables. It was the theme book for May that I got finished with in June. I really loved it! I wish I would have read it back when I was younger. It would have been the perfect series to go to after I finished the Little House books.

I also really enjoyed A Mercy, If He Hollers Let Him Go & Unwind

My theme book is still being read. I started with Sag Harbor, but it was boring me to tears. I am reading The Widows' Adventures instead and I really like it so far.

I read a bunch of okay books this month but none really stood out, except for The Pursuit of God. I enjoyed A Mercy and If He Hollers Let Him Go as well as Artful but like I said, most didn't stand out. Hopefully next month is better :)

I read several good books this month. The Book Thiefwas my favorite.

I did! And I thoroughly enjoyed it...from beginning to end!

My theme read for the month was Bittersweet.

My fav reads for the month were Dust and Indigo.

Same here, did you like Death narrating? I loved it. :)

I did Anastasia. It was different, I loved how he was drawn to her and followed her throughout life. It was a really good book.
