For some reason, I have a difficult time imagining what the characters look like unless I choose a well known actor to play the parts in my head. I know there's already a TV series on Amazon based on this novel, but it doesn't look that great to me to be honest. Anyway, I chose Eddie Redmayne as Peter, Michelle Dockery as Bea, and Kathryn Morris as Grainger. Didn't really have anyone famous for the lesser characters though. Who would you all choose?

So blown away, and pleased, that they did anything further with this book - I thought the religion may have been too heavy-handed. I totally would have cast Noah Taylor as Peter though. The guy they did cast as the drug-addict-turned-preacher looks like a fully-gelled underwear model. I just started the first episode - are they planning to show his abs quite a bit as the series continues? Otherwise, I'm like...huh. I'll give it a chance though. The book was sooooooo wow.
Oh, damn...about 16 minutes in they are showing him in the shower. Extremely curious why they made him eye candy when it would have been so much more relatable and important to make him ordinary and kind of dorky?

I was JUST thinking about my dream casting for a movie version. I think Martin Freeman (guy who played Bilbo Baggins) would make a perfect Peter.
