John Seymour 8. How does K. behave toward the merchant Block? How do Leni and Huld treat him? What distinguishes K. from Block? Will he look and act like Block at a later stage in his trial?

K is at first interested in Block and wants to learn from his experience of the court system.

Leni treats Block the way she treats K as if she loves him and with affection.

Huld treats Block like a dog making him beg for attention, he enjoys showing K the power he has over Block.

It does appear that K will end up like Block if his trial goes on long enough.

At first K dismisses Block but when he learns he is a defendant too he changes his tune. Block has valuable information to share and K quickly realizes he should be nicer to him. The group is all players and pawns in this game of bureaucracy. So far this chapter was the most interesting to me.
