Guardian Newspaper 1000 Novels discussion

Here is the thread for this month's State of the Nation read, Invisible Man. I am currently waiting for a copy from the library, so probably won't get to it until the end of the month. Who else will be reading with me?

I started this morning - I have the audiobook edition.

Got it! :-D! I'll start by the weekend (finishing up my current read).

How is everyone doing on this one? I just started reading two days ago, but I'm already 1/3 done! Ellison's writing is incredible, and the story flows beautifully.

I love reading from these lists, because so many of the novels are of such a high quality!

I'm done. I thought it was a powerful story though the narrator struck me as unbelievably naive in places.

Sorry for the delay responding Dennis. One example is near the beginning when (view spoiler)[he is invited to give his high school speech and is then forced into the degrading fight & scramble for coins, he is still thinking that those white men were interested in the speech and had his welfare in mind! (hide spoiler)]

I am rattling through this now, nearly 30% in, finding it very much a page-turner and working well on several levels!
