Trike Well, this is just fan-flippin-tastic.

Looks like they're going with a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe with this trailer. I'm okay with that.

I can't stand Led Zeppelin, but this song is perfect for the trailer. Also, Jack Black made it tolerable for me in School of Rock.

This is the first Thor flick that seems interesting to me. I have questions! And I love that last line.

Jennifer | 466 comments I think the Led Zeppelin song was perfect. I am looking forward to this. I thought the previous Thor movies were fun.

Veronica (readingonthefly) If the insipid love interest from the first two movies is gone then I'll watch it.

I loved the elements of Planet Hulk with the Hulk as a gladiator. Now we will now once and for all who is stronger. Who will win? The World's Mightiest Mortal or the Crown Prince of Asgard? I am also interested in the fact Thor's hammer was destroyed because we will see what he will do when he stripped of his strongest weapon. The Twilight of the Gods has begun!

Trike This trailer is Disney's most-watched in the 24 hours since it dropped. I'm not surprised, as it is a nearly perfect trailer. Although to beat out Star Wars is pretty impressive.

I bet The Last Jedi will beat it when it comes out this Friday.

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I'm sorry to necro all over this thread, but I have a burning question!

If I was in a book club online, and people made me pick books about Norse mythology, and that then led to me absolutely *needing* to see all Loki movies at once, what order would the Marvel experts suggest I do it in? I have zero interest in anything else except Tom Hiddleston in a Loki wig. I know which movies he's in, but what's the minimum of other movies I can get away with if I only want to see Loki?

I don't really have time for this right now, so damn you people for making me want it!

message 13: by Phillip (new)

Phillip Murrell | 604 comments If you just want Loki, watch the Three Thor movies, the first Avengers movie, and Infinity War.

Here's the order:
Thor, Avengers, Thor 2, Thor 3, Infinity War.

message 14: by Dawn F (new)

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments Hahahaha! Hiddles Loki was literally my way into the Marvel movies, too 😂 I watch all the Marvel films just to get the continuity, but the Thor films are my absolute favorites. Well, and Guardians of the Galaxy cos they’re close in humor and have SO MUCH HEART.

Right, so for Loki, go with:

Thor, Avengers, Thor 2: The Dark World (Guardians of the Galaxy 1, Guardians of the Galaxy 2), Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War.

The reason I’ve included the Guardians films is the sequel leads directly to the events of Thor 3 which leads directly to Avengers Infinity War. And also she might just love them. The characters interact in Infinity War.

If you ONLY want Loki films then skip the two Guardians movies, but including them might give a more smooth viewing experience.

message 15: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments Thanks Dawn, this is exactly what I wanted! I don't mind watching a few extra to make sure everything makes at least a little sense.

message 16: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline | 2428 comments I’d slot Avengers 2 (Age of Ultron) in before Ragnarok as well for continuity. Just so you get the whole story. Loki isn’t in it but you really need to see it too. (And Iron Man and Captain America and Black Panther....)

message 17: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I've seen Iron Man 1-2 and Black Panther, but those are the only MCU movies I've seen. (Since X-Men don't count.)

message 18: by Dawn F (last edited Nov 01, 2018 03:07PM) (new)

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments Iron Man 1-2 is a good place to start, just so you know who the Avengers is and who started it. Captain America is another prime member of the Avengers team, but I personally do not like those movies, so I only watched them to keep up with what's happening to the characters.

Thing is, it's a difficult question what to watch and what not, because as you know, you can list the films Loki's in, but you might miss the meaning of some of the things that happens if you haven't watched this or that movie.

Personally I haven’t watched Age of Ultron, the second Avengers film, where Loki isn’t in but Thor is, and while I know I missed some info, like who Scarlet Witch and Vision, who feature prominently in Avengers: Infinity War are, I survived fine without it. It did make me feel a bit like ‘who are these characters and why should I care for them’, when watching Infinity War, but I think you need to be even more greatly involved in the MCU to get to that point.

It's difficult to draw a line of what you *should absolutely watch*. I'd even argue another tie-in I can think of is Doctor Strange, but again I hated the movie, but because Thor and Loki meet him in Thor 3: Ragnarok, it made sense to have seen it prior to that. But who knows, you may get curious along the way if you just watch the Loki films, that's how this whole Marvel adventure started for me anyway *g*

For just Loki, Phillip has it. Except I wouldn’t necessarily include Infinity War because he’s barely in it.

I mean, I would recommend all the MCU movies except Iron Man 3, but just for Loki, those five.

Loki is only in like the first 5 minutes of Infinity War because there are so many characters they have to include. (Also, (view spoiler)

message 22: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline | 2428 comments Yes but it’s still worth watching so you’ll know what’s going on in Avengers 4 when it comes out and Loki may or may not be in that one.

Jacqueline | 2428 comments I did see that Squirrel Girl was getting something ages ago. I've read The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Squirrel Meets World and have 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious on my iPad ready for when I'm in the mood to go nuts again hehehe

Have you seen John Barrowman's Squirrel Girl outfit? Brilliant.

Wish they'd hurry up with 4. Did you see this? Super Smash Bros.....they reckon it's Infinity War and Avengers 4 but with Nintendo characters....

Bruce and Thor are chatting when Tony Stark calls:
Bruce (to Thor): He doesn’t know how to get in touch with you.
Thor: I don’t have a phone.

Turns out I've seen Thor 1-2 XD I just didn't remember anything about either one. I mark all movies I watch on IMDB, so that's how I know for sure I've seen them. I didn't check before, because I was absolutely certain I haven't seen them. I started suspecting it when I recognized the part where Kat Dennings calls Mjölnir mewmew. And I recognized another Kat Dennings scene from Thor2. I'm now hoping Thor3 will be about Kat and Loki bantering for two hours, and then maybe making out a little bit in the extras.

Cortez III One of the few MCU films I haven't seen. Guardians 2, Spiderman Homecoming, and The Ant and The Wasp the others.

message 32: by Trike (new)

Trike For Loki fans, Hiddleston will reprise the role in a TV series. I’m guessing it’s about his life pre-MCU. Since we now know he and Thor are over 1500 years old (per Thor’s comment in Infinity War), there are tons of fun stories they can tell.

message 33: by Dawn F (new)

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments I’m hoping for a kind of Agent of Asgard type stories for the tv show. Hiddles luckily still has the ability to look like a teenager so it’s doable.

They will most like leave out the one of Skadi's wedding. Where Loki gets her to laugh.

I am not sure it is referenced directly or not, but it is pointed out that they are the Gods of Norse myth a time or two, which would actually put them at plus 2k years old. Give or take a hundred or two.
