Remember
Remember,
How your voice was my favorite sound?
How you turned my life around?
Remember,
How you said you would love me forever?
How our relationship could not be severed?
Remember,
How we kissed in the rain?
How we fought through the pain?
Remember,
How we danced through the night?
How we never seemed to fight?
Remember,
How you were disturbed?
How you kicked me to the curb?
Remember,
How you found someone else?
How she made your heart melt?
I remember,
How you told me we could still be friends
But we both knew it was the end.

Crying on the Bay
I stood there on the beach,
Watching as you left me.
Your goodbye speech had said
This would benefit mankind.
How would it help to leave me?
I pleaded, my tears flowing
into the ocean.
How would it help to leave me?
You said it was for the best,
That I would be okay.
Then you left me.
Crying on the bay.
I stood there on the beach,

Crying on the bay.
The Rebellion
Points: 30
(New version message 17)
They took my heart.
They burned it to ashes.
They tear us apart.
Life weakly flashes.
They do what they want.
They destroy people’s lives.
From safety they taunt
Those who bravely hold knives.
I watch them be evil,
I watch their mercilessness.
They don’t fear upheaval,
Encircling us.
I’m done with their tricks.
I’m done with their games.
I’ll start the conflicts.
I’ll encourage the flames.
The rebellion is happening.
The rebellion is real.
Their grip is slackening.
To them it’s surreal.
I’m doing what it takes.
I’m crossing the hard lines.
As their rule breaks,
It will be mine.

We Will Survive
Points: 20
Sometimes it’s hard to grow,
Sometimes it’s hard to thrive.
Like we’re attached to a plow,
But we will survive.
I’m fighting against the current,
I’m wading through oil.
I am determined,
We will survive.
Growing in the concrete,
While others get the soil.
My heart has barely a beat,
But we will survive.
Pushing through the hard times,
Fighting through the pain.
It feels impossible sometimes,
But we will survive.

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
Yesterday,
You told me I was your only.
Yesterday,
You held my hand as we walked through the park.
Today,
You sat with another girl.
Today,
You took her home with you.
Tomorrow,
Will you leave me forever?
Tomorrow,
Will you toss me aside?
I hope,
You realize you want me.
I know,
You won't.

Sunny Day
The sun peeped through the trees,
I was feeling at ease,
The wind shook the branches,
These were the circumstances.
You took my hand,
It may not have been grand,
But it was perfect all the same,
As you softly spoke my name.
With a strum of your guitar,
You took me away, oh so far,
Singing that tune,
On a sunny afternoon.
You finished with a smile,
After holding me captive for a while.
You pulled me to my feet,
Said how you were finally complete.
That’s when you dropped on one knee,
Beautifully saying your plea
That I would marry you someday,
Which I did, on that Sunday.
When the bells sounded,
By our families surrounded,
We said the vows that made us one,
Which all happened under the sun.
The sun peeped through the trees,

The Bird of the Storm
The thunder rumbles.
The lightning flashes.
The clouds darken.
The wind whips my face.
I have to run.
I have to hide.
I have to save myself.
I have to save him.
Standing atop the tower,
With hair as dark as coal,
The prince of the castle,
The ruler of the kingdom.
If he dies, the kingdom falls,
If he dies, we are overtaken,
If he dies, I have failed,
If he dies, if he dies, he..dies.
He’ll be cut from my life,
And never will I have said,
The forbidden words,
The words he may think absurd.
I love you.
Simple they seem,
Yet they are so powerful.
They could change everything.
I, a guard, marrying a prince?
He must marry a princess,
Not his guard, the knight.
The girl he thinks is male.
I wanted to fight for him,
I chose to fight for him,
Deception indeed,
But deception necessary.
It’s not the time,
I must save him,
Before the lightning strikes,
Before he dies.
Why isn’t he running?
Why is he still up there?
He must be trapped.
He must need my help.
Racing up the tower steps,
My heart as fast as a horse,
My sword drawn from its sheath,
I go to save my prince.
Pounding the door,
Shaking the knob,
Yelling for help,
The door stays closed.
My sword cuts the door down,
My heart beats faster,
My feet rush out onto the roof,
There stands the prince.
I insist he come with me,
Grab him by the hand.
We rush toward the door,
He stops me.
He points to a quivering shape,
Far across the roof.
The shape of a bird,
The shape of a wounded bird.
He starts to run,
I stop him,
He must wait,
I must go.
I run to save the bird,
I run to save it for him.
He watches solemnly,
Thinking his thoughts.
I reach the bird and lean down,
I try to pick it up.
It hops away from me, evading me.
I hear lightning strike.
Pain.
Unbearable pain.
And then darkness.
Sweet darkness.
The thunder rumbles.
The lightning flashes.
The clouds darken.
The wind whips my face.
I have to run.
I have to hide.
I have to save myself.
I have to save him.

On the Phone
On the phone,
I didn’t feel alone.
Talking to you,
Everything was true.
On the phone,
I was at home,
But I neglected to say,
How I missed you that day.
On the phone,
I was on my own,
But in my heart,
We were not apart.
On the phone,
If only you’d known,
The feelings I felt,
I felt about to melt.
On the phone,
I was sad to the bone.
I miss you,
But you haven’t a clue.
Off the phone,
I sit alone.
Crying out my heart,
Because we are apart.
On the phone,
I didn’t feel alone.
Talking to you,
Everything was true.
On the phone,
I was at home,
But I neglected to say,
How I missed you that day.

Empty
There it lies,
Empty.
There it lies,
Abandoned.
What used to be,
Is no more.
The children,
Are gone.
That house that,
Sits upon the hill.
The house that,
Is larger than life.
It used to be full,
Full of laughter.
It used to be full,
Full of people.
Now it lies,
Empty.
Now it lies,
Abandoned.
Oh empty house,
Oh lost creation,
Oh abandoned building,
I want to make you full again.
You creak as I creep,
You echo as I speak.
I loved you, house.
I loved you, home.
My old home is,
Forgotten,
By everyone,
But me.
There it lies,
Empty.
There it lies,
Abandoned.
What used to be,
Is no more.
The children,
Are gone.
That house that,

What Am I Part 1
I shine bright up in the dark sky.
I light the night sky, dear child.
I glow so soft, reflect the sun.
What am I?
What Am I Part 2
I have waves crashing at my edge.
The sky learns from me to be blue.
Creatures great and small live in me.
What am I?
I shine bright up in the dark sky.
I light the night sky, dear child.
I glow so soft, reflect the sun.
What am I?
What Am I Part 2
I have waves crashing at my edge.
The sky learns from me to be blue.
Creatures great and small live in me.

A Writer's Woes
(Latest version message 18)
Inspiration never comes opportune,
As you will discover soon.
You may sit down and uncap your pen,
But soon you will be there again.
For, though you have the time,
You shan't think of even a rhyme.
And the more inspiration is sought,
The more likely you will end up with naught.
But when you retire to your bed,
Many thoughts spring through your head.
And if they are not written down,
Tomorrow they cannot be found.

A Plea
The present is your future past,
Make it count, it won't last.
Be kind to your friends,
It's not easy to make amends.
Live in the now,
We'll make it work somehow.
Don't make my mistakes,
It seems great before it breaks.
Don't make this your reality,
Please please listen to me.

The Girl
The girl was strong,
The girl was weak.
The girl was ice,
Cold as snow.
The girl was cracked,
The girl held on.
The girl shattered,
It all released.
The pieces were melting,
The pieces were lost.
The pieces were fallen,
The girl was lost.
A new girl was born,
A new girl was found.
A new girl was discovered,
We can't return.
A soft voice,
Tears flowing.
A broken heart,
Bringing the new.
The girl was strong,
The girl was weak.

Little Joys
Little joys make happiness.
Laughter tickling your ears
A hug from a loved one
A hand in yours.
Little joys make happiness.
The smell of a favorite novel
The rustle of pages turning
The breathlessness of a plot twist
Little joys make happiness.
Warm cookies, fresh from the oven
A burst of juice in your mouth
The tingle of spices on your tongue.
Little joys make happiness.
A sunset melting the sky
Leaves crunching under your feet
Grass between your toes.
Little joys make happiness.
Wind blowing back your hair
Sun warming your face
Stars lighting the night.
Little joys make happiness.
Don’t miss them.

I tried to made The Rebellion (message 5) flow a bit better based on some feedback I received.
The Rebellion
They took my heart.
They burned it to ashes.
They tear us apart.
Life weakly flashes.
They do what they want.
They destroy people’s lives.
From safety they taunt
All those with knives.
I watch their evil,
Their mercilessness.
They don’t fear upheaval,
Encircling us.
I’m done with their tricks.
I’m done with their games.
I’ll start the conflicts.
I’ll encourage the flames.
It’s happening.
It’s real.
Their grip is slackening.
To them it’s surreal.
I’m doing what it takes.
I’m crossing the hard lines.
As their rule breaks,
It will be mine.
