Hi Melanie. Same Team again,

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments We should each pick 2 categories, and then we all look at the ones that are left over and whoever has a book that can match it, can have it.

- Read a book about bullying.
- Read a book by an author, or with a character who’s name starts with the letter ‘A’ (for Alan)
- Book with shoes or trainers on the cover
- Read a book with soil/earth/ digging equipment/ something buried, or a box or trunk on the cover.
- Read a book set in a boarding school
- Pick a playing piece – read a book with an animal on the cover
- Read a book by an author, or with a character called ‘Sarah’
- Winged things… read a book with the letters ‘B’, ‘A’, and ‘T’ in the title
- Read a book set in another world
- In the Jungle you must wait… read a book with trees on the cover.

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments Here is a spreadsheet for our challenge progress. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

message 6: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Hey Wolf! I requested access to the spreadsheet. :)

message 7: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments So it looks like there are 37 categories for one round of this game.

I'll list what books I have for each category. I know it's highly unlikely I'll be able to read this many, but this way I'll have a list ready should I need to read for one of the tasks. :D

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments These are the ones left that me and Melanie have not found a book for.
- Read a book set in another world -
- Read a book set in the future, or in the past (after 2041 or before 1989)
- Read a book with something that flies on the cover -
- Read a book with food on the cover! -
- Read a horror story!
- Read a book published in 1995.
- Read a book with the word 'game' or 'play' in the title. -
- Read a book with a car on the cover.
- Read a book with a beach on the cover, or set at the beach.

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Been at work so only just seen this. I'm in. Will look at books and planned BRs. Wolf, do you want us to add them to your spreadsheet?

message 13: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments Sure, or I could. Melanie could as well, since she already has access to the spreadsheet. Let me know.

message 14: by Karen (last edited Apr 24, 2017 01:56PM) (new)

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Planned BRs - One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus (1st) - think this would cover the part 1 category a book about bullying but will check this with Sarah
A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3) by Sarah J. Maas (2nd) - part 1 book by an author named Sarah
Someone Else's Summer by Rachel Bateman (7th) - part 3 has water on the cover
The Radius of Us by Marie Marquardt (12th)

I can do the horror story for part 2 The Shining (The Shining #1) by Stephen King
I can do the car on the cover part 2 Why We Took the Car by Wolfgang Herrndorf

I've matched my TBR pile/ARCs to the categories so will focus on the ones I've set up or that we haven't got sorted, then fill in. I'm trying to make it a personal challenge to go through all categories, so i'm happy to slot in where I can.

message 15: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments Ok, I kinda made it a personal challenge to go through all the categories as well. You can request access to the spreadsheet as well and update your things as well.

message 16: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I'm gonna make it a personally challenge to make it through all the tasks, but only if I can find shorter books for all the tasks. :))

Thanks for setting that up Wolf. I've claimed two books in each category. I don't think I've been on a team with Melanie or Coreen before so I don't know your reading speeds, but I know that you read fast Wolf. Shall we start by claiming two sections for a part and then see how we go?

Sure. I've been on a team with Melanie before, and she reads pretty fast. I've never been on a team with you and Coreen before though. I can claim as many as you want me to, but that sounds like a great idea.

message 26: by cors (new)

cors (corsdarone) I read three to four books a week :)

message 27: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments Great, thanks Coreen.

message 28: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments So glad to have you on the team.

message 29: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I vary from like 1 to 10 books a week. All depends on the length of the book and also how busy of a week it is. :)

I went ahead and claimed two tasks in each of the four parts. :)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I just found a book that I *think* should work for Read a book featuring an orphan!! An Awakened Heart (Orphan Train, #0.5) by Jody Hedlund

Same

message 34: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I made separate pages on the spreadsheet for each of us. We can use them (if we want) for our full reading lists. :D

message 35: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Melanie, that's a great idea as I was confusing myself earlier! I'll need to rejig a few planned reads so will update my list tomorrow. I'll prioritise reading the ones where we have blanks to fill in first time (starting with a couple from each category) and then slot in as needed. This should mean I can post reviews as I go rather than waiting for the category to restart.

Glad you like the idea. :) It got kind of difficult for me to update my reading list in a comment, so I figured why not put it in the spreadsheet. :) Soooo much easier and I just need to find two "J" books and then my reading list is complete, lol!! I'm so ready for this challenge to start!

message 37: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Do any of you ladies want to buddy read The Education of Hailey Kendrick by Eileen Cook or The Jerk Magnet (Life at Kingston High, #1) by Melody Carlson ?

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Spreadsheet for my planned reads now complete. Something in each category - yay :-)
I'll focus on my ARCs to hit those deadlines, but will try and mix up the kindle and physical copies of texts. Roll on May 1st!

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Hi guys, it's nearly time...Have you noticed every other serious team has five members now? Let's roll up our sleeves and get reading!

message 43: by cors (new)

cors (corsdarone) @Karen - I agree. I think I'll be able to finish one or two books a day since I won't be doing anything this month. I'll start on May 1st

message 44: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments @Karen I noticed that. It's going to make me push myself more, since it's a little bit of a disadvantage. :D About 12 hours and I can start!

message 45: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Desperately trying to finish my book for this month's challenge (not that it'll help much) and then will get books in order to start tomorrow.

message 46: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Me too. I want to finish two books, at least. I'm close to finishing one. O.o

message 47: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments @Karen I noticed that. I think we can still do it though.

I will try to begin reading at 12 tonight, and begin going crazy with reading. I think I should be able to have a little more reading time this month, since, I can't do much in working.

message 48: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13288 comments This is my last month to guarantee reading before I start exam marking. Hopefully I've chosen some short books that won't take ages to read.

message 49: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) | 3155 comments About to finish my first book.

message 50: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13288 comments Just posted my first review and updated the spreadsheet. I'm starting with my ARCs that I need to get out of the way in the next couple of days.
