Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Tom, Sebastian's tiger, was taken by Sir Francis. Were you surprised at this development? What about the struggle at the factory - was it sufficiently suspenseful?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I was a little surprised because I think Sir Francis was tempting fate since he knows Sebastian already suspected him. I'm at least glad that Tom was lured away. I would've been annoyed if he had purposefully ignored Sebastian's orders and had gone out to find clues on his own. I hate knowing that Tom suffered any pain at Sir Francis' hands and, like Sebastian, I was scared to learn that even worse had happened to him.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Poor Tom! I am also glad that it wasn't the result of his doing anything silly.

It will take him time to recover but with Sebastian's help, I think he will be OK>

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I also liked the little scene between him and Hero. I know he was Team Kat (ugh) so I wish we could get more scenes between them. It'd be nice if Tom could come to admire Hero too.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Yup, she's slowly winning him over.

Like many men, Tom is blinded by Kat's beauty. He doesn't realize that it is only skin deep.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Tom was all impressed that Kat taught him some little pickpocketing trick back in book 1. He's never seen Hero take out three men in a room all by herself with little more than a pot of scalding water, lol.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Lol! That's still one of my favorite scenes in all the books.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Mine too.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Of course the abduction of Tom from home was appalling, and I was horrified (never saw it coming).

I felt for him, and for Sebastian who thought he had Tom safely at home. This was a truly disturbing event.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments It would have been horrifying for both. Sebastian, who would be imagining all the horrible things being done to Tom. And Tom, who would actually be experiencing them.

Thanks for that reminder, Veronica, about what tied Tom to Kat. Yeah, he'd be won over in a snap if he'd witnessed Hero's skills.

I was hoping against hope that Tom wouldn't be involved but I wasn't surprised when he was taken.

One great outcome from the experience is the elevation of Tom's relationship with Sebastian who now realizes he needs to stop treating him like a young tiger and more like a young man. I think it was an education for Sebastian to learn what it took for children like Tom to survive and make it this far. This was an important recognition for him. I'm really interested in seeing what's next for these two.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Yes, Tom has been made of stronger stuff than Sebastian has given him credit for.

Angela | 155 comments I was surprised in that I knew Sebastian would move heaven and hell to find Tom. So it seemed inevitable from that point Sebastian would catch a murderer.

That being said Rowe was probably that arrogant that he thought he could get away with anything. After all he had for years been a serial killer.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7669 comments Mod
Either arrogance (most probably) or ignorance of Sebastian's affection for Tom. He should have known Sebastian would come after him with a vengeance.
