Jason Hi

I have very limited information about any of the books, I read them in my early teens, unfortunately, so will provide what I remember. I imagine they were written in the 60, 70s

One was a story with elemental magic, one scene in particular I remember is an explosion (I think nucleur) and the guy uses magic to immediately move himself to a location further away.

The next book all I remember is the main protagonist learning words of power and being chased but able to run for 3 straight days.

Finally the third book was a sci fi book where the army went to a world to put down a rebellion, but only had old school rifles.

I don't really expect anyone to be able to help, but they were all books with series I planned to finish, unfortunately they all got lost when lent to others.

Your third book sounds very much like Andre Norton's Star Soldiers.

Mikhail G (mikhailg) | 8 comments The words of power/running one could be the first book in the Amber series by Roger Zelazny. First published in 1970 I think.

C Patrick Daily (verminous) Third book could be The Doomfarers of Coramonde Published in 77, I read it around that time I think. Vietnam soldier transported to a fantasy tech world. part of a 2 book series if I recall.

C Patrick Daily (verminous) I just had another thought. Janissaries by Jerry Pournelle could be what you're looking for also. published in 79. Also a great read.
