What book should we read first? We'd like to try something local. Any local authors out there would would like Keep St. Pete Lit to read their book? No?

Jonathan Kile (jonathankile) | 2 comments Whatever we read, nothing HUGE as I'm writing a lot these days. Liked the idea of doing a classic.

Stacey Whitworth | 3 comments Are we thinking classic or entertaining this time? I've been wanting to read Live By Night by Dennis Lehane. Hey, he lives here! :)

Daun Fletcher | 1 comments I don't know about anyone else, but as I currently have about 4 other books going and the World Cup, so something lite and summery?

Great ideas. The Key Notes are 99¢, which is a great deal, and you can never have too many ebooks, amiright?

Where does Dennis Lehane live?

We will decide Friday. So far those are the only two suggestions, so... vote up, suggest up, step up!

And... The winner is Daun! In deference to Jon Kile's busy schedule. But Dennis Lehane soon!

The First Rule About Book Club book for July is a short one: at reader Daun Fletcher's suggestion, "Key Notes: A Collection of Folk Tales From the Florida Keys."

We'll meet at 6:30 p.m. at Cappy's Pizza on July 14.

To find a venue to buy the book online, check the these options out on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/work/compar...

Locally we're investigating bookstores who may have it. If you know a local bookstore who does have it, please speak up (and add the phone number!) in the comments.

Thank you everyone who came out to our first book club meeting tonight! Our discussion covered a wide variety of topics and there wasn't a dull moment. We decided as a group that our next book will be 'Green Hills of Africa' by Ernest Hemingway. We will meet again on Monday, August 11th (7:30pm) at Community Cafe, 2444 Central Ave. St. Pete. We hope you will join us!

Andrea (andichan6601) I know I've missed the first meeting, but I have an excellent suggestion for a book. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss is a fantastic book!
