He smiled at her, "So I noticed we're neighbors." As he gave her a small elbow nudge. "Which is weird because I never see any young people in old lady Harrison's house. So are you new around here?" He asked, scooting over for other passer-byers.

"Oh really? Never thought that old grouch allowed anyone in her home except other old grouches." he laughed, "Well, welcome to our school or should I say, bienvenue à notre école," he smiled.

"I got good day, grandmother, and do not." he laughed. "I'm not to well in French, even though i'm taking a class right now. But is Judith your grandmother? Gee I feel bad for you!"

"Oh, well we can go there together then, cause that's my next class." he smiled, "I can lend you my notes in case you need to catch up."

"psshh.. no need to be a show off," he smiled, "If you had written it down, I could have read it and understood it easy. The talking part, ehh, not so much," he laughed. "And I'm sure some of my notes are worth catching up on." The two walked into the classroom.
((should we skip the class?))

As John started on his lunch, his friends got up to get a head start on football practice. "I'll see you guys there later!" he said, giving a faint wave. As he turned, he noticed his neighbor again. Smiling he yelled, "Hey! Frenchy!" He waved at her, hoping she'd sit by him.

"Yes, I've been playing since I started highschool." he leaned in close toward her, "But I doubt I'm any good," he whispered with a grin. "So it's Elaine? That's not what i'd expect from a French person. I thought you were like a.. Marie," he laughed, "My name's John." he smiled, "So.. have you seen the beach that's in town?"

"Gee thanks," he laughed hearing her opinion on his plain name, "Well I can take you sometime, you know, if you're worried about getting a ride. Because you really should see it, there's never anyone there." he smiled as he got up to dump his tray, "And by the way, Maria is the Spanish name, Marie is French. That's one thing I learned in that class," he smiled as he started toward the exit doors.

"Hey hey hey!" he said as he quickly caught up to her, "So she is your grandma? Why didn't you just say so instead of making up stuff?"

He let out a sarcastic laugh, "Why? Did you kill a man or something?" He nodded at the other students who walked by. Returning his attention to her he added, "And what right does she have to say who you cant talk to? Did she say I was bad?"

"Well, whatever it is. She shouldn't be so harsh on you. You don't seem the type that messes around anyway."

John didn't know whether he should follow her or not. Obviously there was no reason around it. She was just an embarrassment to her family. He didn't understand how she could be. Had she done something? or was her family just that heartless.

As John walked inside to his house, he sat right on the floor in front of the door.
"Three.. two.. one." he said to himself and suddenly someone yelled right on quo.
"Honey? Are you home?" asked his mother.
"Yes..."
"Well get ready because we'll be going to go out for another doctor's appointment, and then we're going to have to run over and get you those measurments for that suit of yours!"
Everyday it was something new. John faked a smile, "Whatever you say mom," he sighed.

Her grandmother looked up from her desk, watching as the sad spirited girl walked up the stairs. THough her grandmother was very spiteful toward this whole situation, she did feel a slight bit of pain for the girl. After all, she wasn't too happy with how her son had turned out, making his children an even bigger reason to be bitter. But she did have her reputation to hold up, and wasn't ready to be loving toward the girl till she was certain. "Ramona!" she yelled. A fearful Ramona came in quickly. "Yes ma'am?" "Send my granddaughter a glass of water or some refreshment, she looks de-hydrated,"

A faint knock appeared on her door, followed by a small voice, "Ma'am? May I come in?"
Ramona entered quickly with a tall glass of cold koolaid. "I hope you like cherry koolaid, i'm surprised you're grandma allows me to buy it since she's so against sweet foods. But I thought you'd prefer it over just water." She paused noticing Elaine's saddened appearance. She sighed, "I know this is hard for you. But, we must all look past our pasts and rise to our futures. Though I'm not a good example." she gave a faint laugh, "Just don't look so down, you're face is to beautiful to look so sad."

Ramona quickly kneeled by the bedside, "No,no no madam! You mustn't think this way. One boy shouldn't have that power on you. Nor should anyone else. You're family may have givin you a rocky start. But I know you can pull through it." She stood back up, "I'll be back with some water."

Ramona nodded and went down stairs to fetch it. Outside, in the neighbor's yard. There, John angrily told his parents off as he threw the bench he once sat on out toward the fence. His father then came out yelling at John. "If you're not going to put in the effort, then just kiss this future away! I don't need any pathetic sons in my family!!" He walked back inside slamming the door. John sat on the grass as his eyes began to fill. He was so done with this life of rules and orders, his body filled with anger as he cupped his face in his hands.

John nodded, still cupping his face. "I'm tired.... tired of living their way. Always getting pushed around by my own parents... And school's been terrible so they're threatening me with my inheritance..... But I don't want it or need it.." His face was still covered, mot wanting to show Elaine his sadness. pinching his face with hands as he removed them he faintly smiled at her with red tear filled eyes. "I'm sorry for today. I wasn't laughing at you, I was just in and awkward position." he wiped his eyes,

As she touched his face his smile faded. His arm reached out to the side of her face. Leaning toward her, he closed his eyes and began to come in for a kiss. He didn't know her, but so far she had been the only person to actually connect with him. As he continued leaning toward her, his lips finally met hers. Her lips were so smooth as he slowly kissed them. His hand rose from her face to the back of her neck.

His eyes still focused on hers as she pulled away, nodded, "Yeah, you should go." His hand leaving her back and resting back by his side. As he helped her stand back up he looked over at her and smiled, stroking her hair back, "Thank you.." was all he said. He then began walking back into his house where more yelling could be heard.
Ramona had come back and noticed the open window. Going to it, she saw outside was Elaine, "Elaine! what are you doing outside!?" she whispered, "you'll get chilly out there!"

"No I would never tell!" she smiled, with still a concerned face. "But you must do these things later." she helped Elaine back inside through the window. "If you must leave to visit friends, then I suggest you do it during nine o'clock. Your grandmother goes to be about that time." She smiled patting the girl on the shoulder, "Your water is on your nightstand miss," she curtsied and left the room.

Months flew by, and Elaine and John had become very close friends, in some ways, even closer than friends..
Night was now their favorite time, and once again, night had come,a light wind blew and the coolness of the night provided a clear cloudless sky. With the moon showing fully, it casted a light through Elaine's curtains. As she slept, a couple of clinks began to sound from her window. Outside her window was John, he was throwing little pebbles at her window, in hope she could come out once again. "Pssst! Elaine!" he smiled. Tonight was to be a special night.
((I hope you don't mind me fast forwarding! D: I couldn't resist!!))

She stretched some. She smiled some. She wonder what he had plan tonight. She slowly got up and climbed down the window. "What?" She smiled with a grin on her face. She ran to him instantly grabbing his hand wrapping her fingers around his. She looked at the moon. Her blonde hair flow in the moonlight. She looked in his eyes. She was so happy. SHe loved being with him. SO far she didn't get caught. She prayed she never did. She knew what would happen if she did get caught.
"I have a surprise!" He lead her toward his driveway where his car was. As they approached it, he opened her door for her. When he got into his seat he turned his key and started the car. Quickly getting out of the driveway, he headed out toward a newer place in town that Elaine had never been to. "You're going to love it," he smiled as he continued driving.
