Anyone has already started reading this book? First impressions? :-)

I finished this one rather fast, well, it's not a long book by any means, and the writing is clear and sharp. I was honestly mesmerized by the clarity and quality of Baldwin's ideas most of the time.

One of the most interesting aspect was his belief that the main crime of the ruling races are their spinelessness, and their proclaimed innocence. This seems so true 55 years on.

Another thing that I liked a lot was the similarity of many of his ideas to those of Buddhism, the importance put on the values that these days are being fashionable again with the reemerging mindfulness movements: like the immersion in life without fears and judgments.

I will try to give it a go some other time (Letter to my Nephew was brilliant though).
