Jackie (irrelavantreader) | 11 comments I really want to read Lady Midnight, but I haven't read any of Cassandra Clare's other series.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 102 comments OMG I'm so glad someone asked this right as I'm about to read Cassandra Clare!

I'd say probably the original series, The Mortal Instruments, since Lady Midnight is considered to be a sequel of THAT series in particular.

Best is to read The Mortal Instruments book 1-5, then The Infernal Devices, then City of Heavenly fire, then The bane Chronicles and then Shadowhunter Academy. Really, the best is to start from the start. Of course you could leave out TID, the Chronicles and the Academy, but you will find so many bits of those in the other books, things that will let you understand things better, the releationships and the characters and just everything when you read all books. At least it's like that for me

Sail (sailordowden) | 39 comments I'd say that you have to read both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices in order to be able to understand everything.
You can read the Bane Chronicles and Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy if you want, but they're not entirely necessary.

Bianca Since there's going to be a sequel series to TID, which is said to tie into TDA I would read every series. I'd also read several storys of the Shadowhunter Academy and Bane Chronicles, and if you read those, you might as well read all of them.

Janett (sweetwaterspice) | 56 comments I don't think it's really necessary to read "TMI" before "Lady Midnight". Actually, "LM" gives you a nice background into all the previous "TMI" books so you're not completely lost. It's really the beginning of a new series so you're not missing a huge amount of info from the previous books.

Morgan Blanch (hopelessbookaddict) The recommended reading order is in publication order, so:
1. City of Bones, Ashes and Glass
2. Clockwork Angel
3. City of Fallen Angels
4. Clockwork Prince
5. City of Lost Souls
6. Clockwork Princess
7. City of Heavenly Fire

Or, you can read the Infernal Devices first, then move on to TMI.
But I would definitely recommend reading all the books. They're so wonderful, and there's the added fun of nitpicking for any TID easter eggs :D
