We are getting closer to the finish line: It's time to nominate books for our final read in the Tour D'Afrique: Zimbabwe!
Unlike some of the previous nations, we should have an abundance of choice. Diane has been updating our group bookshelf, so if you're looking for inspiration, check out these 200 titles for a start! Other choices are welcome as well :)

Beverly | 460 comments I would like to nominate The Maestro, the Magistrate and the Mathematician by Tendai Huchu

This book has been on my tbr list so will be excited to have a reason to read it in a couple of months.

I have read a book by the author and enjoyed the author's writing style so am interested how he handle's this timely subject.

Cornelia Fick I nominate African Stories by Lessing, Doris

Zainab Omaki | 2 comments I nominate 'Fool's Gold' by Marko Phiri.

It's a short story collection, set in Zinbabwe with elements of the current international investment and corruption taking place there.

I'll second The Maestro, the Magistrate and the Mathematician, I really liked Huchu's The Hairdresser of Harare, so I want to read this.

message 10: by Beverly (new)

Beverly | 460 comments I have another recommendation:

Rotten Row by Petina Gappah

message 11: by Amiya (new)

Amiya (amiya10) | 11 comments I'd like a book that offers a peek into contemporary life, so I nominate: The Hairdresser of Harare

I'm not sure if we can nominate more than one book. If we can, then this would be my other nomination: An Elegy for Easterly: Stories.

message 12: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 8 comments For a poignant, powerful, very well-written memoir set in the 1970s I'd recommend Alexandra Fuller's Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight.
For a short, moving novel set in the early 80s I'd recommend Christopher Mlalazi's Running with Mother

I have set up the voting - as there are a lot of books nominated, I've only allowed one nomination per person this time round.
Please spread the word - and go vote here:

The poll had all the votes distributed completely equal between three titles - so let's go out with a bang and read all three!
Or whichever one you prefer, or have access to?

If you decide to read all three - I've set up a challenge you can join: https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...

And we're reading *Drumroll*
Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga
The Maestro, the Magistrate and the Mathematician by Tendai Huchu
The Hairdresser of Harare also by Tendai Huchu
