I doubt she'd go back in the silvers again if she doesn't have to. It sounds like she was pretty traumatized by some of her explorations. I think she probably stayed in Dublin and continued leading the Sidhe seers and helping to reconstruct the city while Ryodan trains her. It would keep her busy and her mind off Dancer. As for Kat's baby, hmmm, I'll go with it being Sean's, not Cruce's. I think Kasteo just taught her coping techniques to deal with her emotional talents so that she can better help lead the sidhe seers. No hanky panky but maybe a teacher-student bond which might help Kasteo to feel less alone. Btw, what sets the remaining dark Fae apart from the light Fae now that their missing whatever has been corrected by the song? Aren't they now just all Fae.
Imo, Barrons is not a part of the king and never has been. He could possibly become the new one but I don't think he will want it so it'll go to someone else. Mac will choose to give her power to someone more comfortable with it too especially once she sees Barrons isn't willing to become the king.
What is the deal with the new chic, Enyo? I don't like that she just gets introduced and goes straight into the inner circle. No,no,no. She hasn't earned Christian.
Thanks for starting this thread Fresiako! I'm betting there is a specific reason we're jumping two years into the future. KMM wouldn't do that just for the hell of it, you know? I'm sure it will take all of that time for Dani to heal after Dancer... maybe that's why? So that Dani can move on from Dancer. Also I have no idea if Dani will have been in Dublin or left on adventures with Shazam. I can't really picture her jumping back into the silvers right after finding friends and a family again. But on the other hand, if she'll have been in Dublin the whole time then we'll have missed so much!

I love the relationship Dani has with Shazam and can't wait to see what comes of it. I have to admit to hating Dani when she appeared but she grows on you and now she's one of my favorite characters. Now that I think about it I hated Mac too at first- she irritated the crap out of me. **I'm not generally a hater-seriously! I don't like Kat with Kasteo and def. agree that Enyo hasn't earned Christian!

Thanks for starting this thread! It will keep our minds busy until the book does come out. I vote for everything KMM mention regarding what Dani needs, I think the two years have been for her growing into her skin, adapting to the world she lives in now and her leader/grown up responsibilities. As for her relationship with Ryodan, my guess is it would be a combination of how Mac&Barrons were in the first couple of books and how Dani and Ryo were in Iced. Cleaning the streets, getting the city back in order etc. I'm not sure they would work and train together, I don't see Dani taking well to that yet lol more like her getting tough love and support from the background. Ryo needs to be there for her, but to leave her room to breathe and explore at the same time, you know what I mean? But who knows. The sexual tension must have blown out of proportions by now lol. It probably sucks to be him, if Dani keeps getting him the cold shoulder.
I'm excited to see if there will be new characters playing a big role in the big story! I'm ready for a new chapter for this world on new fronts!

I think the time gap was done for a few reasons- so Kat would have her baby, Daegus might be able to control himself by then, and Dani would have had the time to grieve Dancer. Also hey! she's even older now lol no longer technically a teen. she'll be 21!
I think Kat's baby is probably Sean's and maybe that's the one thing that keeps him from going all dark.
at the end of Feversong Cruce was in a lab recreating his dark court so I think we'll see what's up with that.
I'm most curious about how Ryodan & Dani's relationship will have changed over the two years. like has she been ignoring him that whole time? I'm so greedy I don't wanna miss out on any of their relationship stages LOL

I think the seelie still exist right? Maybe the sidhe seers r policing the seelie and making sure they aren't up to shit. I really want to know more about the plot lmao. Ryodan closed chesters in fs. I wonder if he's still the leader of dublin and still writing Ryodan's world lmao.

I think Dani having different lovers is v true to character. Dani always wanted to experience it all and live life to its fullest. I would hate the idea of her staying a celibate widow type who needed someone to reignite her passions or something cliche like that lol

Hmm it could very well be Christian or that unnamed watcher from the beginning of Feverborn, and I know it's weird for KMM to share a male lead POV.... but my gut still tells me this is Ryodan. I can't really say why! Maybe because of the whole ‘I'm going to need a full pardon” part? Gah this wait is already driving me nuts. And I agree my first reaction was dang she’s been sleeping around all of Dublin? And then I was like yea git it gurl! No virginal cliché here! It does seem true to her character. And a “healthy appetite” is pretty ambiguous. I mean I’m not picturing her with a different man every night of the week haha.
i still cant get excited about this book. KMM kind of just ruined Dani for me with her Jada introduction. Dani always seemed so happy, would never let anything keep her down and now she is some moody adult that has none of her inner wildness that made Dani unique. So glad that KMM is moving the story forward by 2 years, she needed that to make character changes seem coherent and not feel so stagnant.
I can't see this as Ryokan's POV, does not even sound remotely like him. Think its the new 'guy' whomever that will turn out to be. "Sleeping" around Dublin sounds the most like old Dani so I'm down with that. I still hate the whole Dancer hook up it felt so romance novel like...it was a terrible plot. Am a it curious about the nine and whats been happening. Can only hope Mac and Barons are on an extended holiday seeing the universe..... and get lost in the silvers...eaten by some crazy creature....after Mac starts some horrible boring monologue and it is interrupted--cutting off the reader from hearing some hokey Mac-Daddy advice. LOL
And I can't even lie --hoping Mac's literary death is super painful. But quick....very quick.
Considering how "epic" and right she wanted her first time to be and her ideals in her head when she thought of Mac/Barrons as a team, her going through men like toilet paper is what seems off to me. She always FELT everything so deeply now she's going through guys like nothing. Idk, for me the whole thing was kind of ruined a long time ago anyway but I'm not impressed by slutty Dani. I don't mean being the virginal cliche but having some taste and being a little picky about who's putting it in her would have been nice.
Oh, man... *cringe* I'm not sure how I feel about where this is going. It's not like Dani is the first badass hardened female main character to turn to random sex frequently, until she gets to a specific place in her story, but it just doesn't feel right here, given the history of these books and characters. Intellectually, I can understand the reasons etc, but it feels wrong, icky (then again, that's how I felt about the whole Dani-Dancer and Ryodan-Jo thing too lol).
Hmmm... Not sure if that POV is Ryodan's. Most likely it is, but it could be someone else too, like you guys said. KMM likes to play with our minds lol.
After reading it, I went back to re-reading some passages from Feversong and my heart broke all over again. Every time Dani does something (or *gasps* someone), only this comes to mind:
“Just how much do you feel from those tattoos?” [Mac] asked.
“Too bloody much,” Ryodan said curtly.
Immortal though I am—if I survive the next week—the coming years might seem my most eternal yet.
This is a new level of brutal, even for KMM....
It is pretty brutal for sure! I'm kind of glad we're skipping over these two years. It will be interesting to see who Dani becomes yet. I still miss her 14 year old self. Sounds like she has a lot of growth left in her character which is good! I hope we'll see some 14 year old Dani shining through the icy façade.
I'm sure Dani's still very picky about who she chooses. The teaser doesn't really say much other than she has casual sex. Dani likes to feel things intensely and sex is an easy way to do that. I don't see the big deal. Ryodan said he was a patient man and he's willing to wait so why not? It'll make it that much better when they do end up together. I'm curious about what Dani will be like now too- I miss her wildness too. And her sense of humor! Maybe now that she has Shazam she'll feel more free- since she won't be in constant agony over losing him anymore.
@June I also hope Mac's role in the book is bare minimum lol. I hope she sits this one out.

Also I know why I hate this excerpt so much, its the line regarding how so many men want her and yada yada yada. OK, she is pretty and one of a kind but this is starting to sound like Mac LOVE. When it seemed like every male Mac came into contact besides ryodan had a thing for her. Dani was a unique character because she rubbed people the wrong way, she wasn't some hot bombshell that everyone wanted to sleep with. Cant Dani just be a cute girl, woman-- whatever. Cant her personality and charm/wit be the attraction?
Yo people have been sending kmm emails regarding the sex in the teasers.This is what she said:
"This is why I don't often give teasers... I got an email from a fan late last night (okay, so I got three emails, the last one just a few minutes ago) from folks upset about Dani's sexual activity as stated in yesterday's teaser. The teaser didn't say "Dani's suddenly having sex with tons of men indiscriminately" nor did it say "she's become a slut with no emotion." There was no number of men or context given. You don't even know how reliable the narrator is. Context is what makes a story; it's the details that bring it all together.
For many years - decades really - there were strict guidlines about how 'romance' should be written. (I don't write romance. I write a kind of hybrid UF/sci-fi fantasy with love at the core.) The women were always virgins, the men were profligate rakes who slept with everything that moved.

LOL and there goes KMM slapping our wrists again. *JK*Regardless of all this, I'm excited the story picks up years later too. I think (hope!) all this time put some distance between the pain and drama of the last book and the present day and now we'll get to see a bit of the good old Dani-Ryodan banter, with a bit (a lot?) of sexual tension and grownup up adventures in between. :D
Throwing in what KMM said about the cover and book too, it hints at the wilderness and humor that we all seem to miss and that might finally be back:As I moved from the Mac & Barrons portion of the Fever Series, into this spin-off/new direction, we encountered the same question: what IS this I’m writing? Is it UF? Romance? Sci-fi/Fantasy? Like its predecessors, High Voltage fits neatly into none of those categories. It contains some of all of the above, plus a healthy dose of humor but has a very real darkness and complexity some romance readers don't want in their quest for a satisfying happily ever after (and need I remind you my HEAs are a bit non-standard?)
We wanted to send the message “this is a fresh direction for the Fever World” (one I think new readers can dive into without having read any of my prior books) yet “this is still very much Fever” and finally, “this is grown-up Dani’s book.”
The delicacy of the shattered stained glass speaks to her tortured past. The lovely pattern speaks of her ability to always see beauty—even in the darkest, broken moments. Her eyes – pure ferocity and strength. This woman does more than endure, she savors life. Yet, for all that superhuman fire in her gaze, there’s still a measure of human vulnerability. I hope you love it as much as I do and I’m so excited for you to read it March, 2018!

I don't think they'll judge her. They all probably know the situation and besides they've always seemed to have had more of a soft spot for Dani. There immortal so they understand the waiting game.Where as if it was Mac they definitly would have judged her for it.
@Saphia Yes, well said!I think one of the reasons for the two years difference is to distance everyone a bit from the kid Dani, so now she can be considered a grown up and one of 'them'. Lor must be extatic :D
Speaking of Lor I wonder if his personality has changed since the previous book after the whole Mac/Book brutally killing Jo. Anyone think he may have gone back to the bone crusher days?

Hey!! It has been a loooong time since I checked into the Fever World but am I the only one doesn't like the cover?? To me, it screams YA. What happen to the dark mysterious covers from the OG books??
@HStevey310 I'm in agreement about the cover. There's been enough confusion about who the main protagonist is going to be in previous books, do we really need for the picture on the cover of Dani's book to not actually look like Dani?

Welcome Mellifluous! I would love to see more K'vruck, and hopefully we find out more about what happened to Dani's black hand! And I would actually love it if KMM really just focused on Dani (and Ryo too of course)... we'll see how many old loose ends she brings into High Voltage vs. introducing new stuff/mysteries to solve.

LOL, I really don't need more of Mac. Barrons would be a great side- character though. I think that Ryodan will need som advise on handling Dani from that beast. :)

So far all we know is that it's set 2 years after Feversong and that KMM it's turning out to be way sexier than she thought lmao.
