A possible reason for why everything we make is providing us with diminishing returns. We ignore the environment.

Where modern concrete is designed to ignore the environment, Roman concrete embraces it. Did they know what they were doing or was it just an accidental discovery, that no on ever noticed. We certainly didn't apply it to anything we are doing.

If we want to reinforce eroding shore lines, this might be the best material, though not the best move.
