Interview with the Vampire question

A long long time ago I read this novel about vampires and my memory is kind of hazy;
I know it had to do with a girl, I believe she was staying with her uncle, and she was reading the accounts of this man (vampire?) and as the story goes on she begins to get obsessed with the man she's reading about.
I know the end of the book is a journal passage of her own and she talks about a tarantula that was being kept by the uncle and how while it was out of the cage it much have bitten her neck because there was a bite wound.

If anyone remembers it and could tell me the title/author I would cry with gratitude!
