In this Challenge Theme, we will take a random week and list all the most read books that week in Goodreads for various genres.

Explore the different books your fellow Goodreaders are reading to find your next book.

---For this particular challenge, the books won't change. It'll stay the 100 books posted above. Just pick how ever many books you want to read in a year from this list.

---We will revisit the most read in this genre at another time. Possibly months from now. With hopefully, or at least mostly, a new list of 100 books. Those would be separate challenges from this one. They are each individual.

---If there are books listed in this challenge that you've already read this year, you can certainly backdate the start of your challenge year so that you may include them.

---If a book from the above list is in a series, you can read a book earlier in the series in its place and it will count.

---You can read your novels in any language.

This sounds like a fun challenge! But I'm a little confused. It sounds like the mods won't be posting a new list every week, so will we sometimes be able to pick more than one book a week? Can we pick a book off a list on a week that the mods don't post?

ETA: Does the book have to be read during the week that the mods post the list? (ex: I can't get the book from the library for 8 weeks because it is so popular. Does it still count?)

You can read as many of the listed books and as fast as you want. You've got a year to read them. You set your own pace as to how fast, or how many you read throughout the year.

We will probably post new genre lists about every month or every other month. To give the genres time to cycle out and get new books. If we were posting every week, we'd probably see a lot of the same books over and over. The idea is to discover new books. Popular books on Goodreads you may have missed.

The next round will likely be from different genres, like Young Adult or Horror etc. Changing things up.

Example: The Book is released on 8/4/2017 and I binge read it on 8/5. It doesn't get noted in the GR algorithm until 8/10 and then posted to this challenge until 8/15. Can I still use it for this challenge?

Ok I think the title is causing some confusion, especially the week 1 part. I'm sorry for that. May have to think about renaming it.

So for this particular challenge, the books won't change. It'll stay the 100 books posted above. I added the links form in addition to just the covers, to make it easier for y'all. Just pick how ever many books you want to read in a year from this list.

We will revisit the most read in the Fiction genre at another time. Possibly months from now. With hopefully, or at least mostly, a new list of 100 books. But also hence the week 1 title. It was just a way to differentiate from potential future challenges. But those would be separate challenges from this one. They are each individual.

But to the basis of your question, if there are books listed in this challenge that you've already read this year, you can certainly backdate the start of your challenge year so that you may include them.

And another point of clarification, from the other thread, if a book from the above list is in a series, you can read a book earlier in the series in its place and it will count.
