This morning I've started a beta read for Age of War, and in about a week I'll be getting on the beta of The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter as well.
Shaping up to be a busy August..

I go back to work next week (I'll be teaching 5th grade for at least the next 2 months), and I start classes towards my Bachelors in about 2 or 3 weeks.
So, my goal is to fit in at least one FoF selection (past or present) a month going forward.
Other than that it'll be textbooks again.

Being unable to read as much as I like has put a damper on my reviewing as well.

I think it's mostly just because I've been busy and tired and I keep falling asleep on the train, which is one of my prime reading times.

Still reading Naruto (3-in-1 Edition), Vol. 1: Includes Vols. 1, 2 & 3 (44% done), The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (70%) and Snow Crash (6%), but I also started Weapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy. I guess I'm on a multi-reading-roll at the moment!

Debating about whether to push through Lion in the Valley or just call it quits. It's not bad, per se... it's just not doing anything for me.

Drop it!!!

Interesting

Nooooooooooo!

Nooooooooooo!"
Why? I thought you'd started it?

I've also got "High Noon in Nimbin" audiobook for the car, but Les Norton stories aren't quite fantasy!

I haven't read it... but I approve of this message. ;)

Let me know if anyone's interested in a buddy read, otherwise I'll just read it myself.

When are you looking to buddy read? I can join in September.

I was planning for September.

I was worried to do a re-read on this one... but so far, so magical.

I wish you luck with it. It didn't work for me, and I never continued the series.

Um... it depends?
I really like it. Felina loves it. Becky hates it with a passion...
It's magical realism. The characters are kind of thin, there is no real plot to speak of... but the writing is magical and the circus is wondrous.
So it depends on what floats your boat.

Basic aerodynamics, history of flight, predictions for the future, excellent photographs throughout (one shows an airship's giant shadow alongside a steam train and is quite fantastic). Very good book.
I'm also almost finished with The Emperor's Edge. I've enjoyed the characters throughout, and the plot. Steampunk isn't my usual fare but I've liked this. Also handles the female protagonist in a man's world line well, avoiding going into man-bashing/woman-are-wonderful whilst still getting across (albeit in a fictional context) the challenges of prejudice [although that's very much a second tier part of the book].

I don't love it. I LURVE it! There is a difference.
