PIFM - Chat/Banter Review Your October Read

Dana - I have House of Leaves as a challenge book this year so if it wins for you I might well read along too.

I second this :-)"
Mandy, I voted for In The Blood. You have me listed on One Kick.

Slade House is creepy too and would make a good Halloween read. It's also pretty short. hmm

Ooops not sure how that happened - will change that now, thanks

I enjoyed Slade House too

I don't blame you - I'd forget what I had ordered if it took that long lol

Perri, if you like creepy that you should read Ann's new book London Noir the perp is so creepy and Ann managed to crawl into his mind and show all the extend of his evil. I loved the book but still wasn't able to finish it :-(

because you were so creeped out? I plan to participate in the Q and A :)

In other words it's a choice between the normal 3rd place book or waiting for a previous month's 3rd place recipient... .

Yes, Perri. Ann makes an excellent job in showing the perp's thoughts - it's so chilling - I think most of you will love it - I'm just too chicken but that's life.
Good for you to want to paricipate. Did you read the first one in series? I loved this one as well. It was borderline for me but I managed to finish it - the second is much more intense. Did you see London Noir will be free the first two or three days of November?

I did see it will be free. Ann says it can work as a stand-alone which is good since I don't have the time to read the first. I don't mind violence as long as it makes sense to the story and preferably not kids or animals involved.

It's not so much violence I struggled with by the intense, creepy emotions and the foreboding of mighty evil and something really bad to happen and I only read the first eight chapters. It's so difficult to explain - kind of intense but suble mind games. I think it was the first time a book got too suspensfull for me - not violent just instense - edge of the seat feeling while reading in bed.

I don't know how I got thru school without reading it!?!

Talking of which - anyone like to recommend some funny books?

One I was surprised by and laughed out loud a few times last year was Where'd You Go, Bernadette - have you read this one?

and Sedaris

when he writes about his life (his memoir type books)

PS I see you just read Between the World and Me Now I understand why you need a lighter book

Paticia,
I've seen my vote won't make any difference so I went now for No Darker Place

I have a tie for 1st place, so I would like you to vote and help me break it."
Voted 😀

You're in for a treat - it's such a great book and the perp is creepy and scary! The psychological side of the story is great - at least for layman :-)

Great. I'm looking forward to my weekend reading already...

I'm not far in (too busy to read yesterday!) but I think I am going to like this one :-)

Just recently got into thriller books, was wondering if anyone could given me some great thriller books to read? Preferably books that aren't series, prefer stand alone thrillers!
Thanks In advance!

Nice one Patricia too for catching up :-)

The last five star thriller I read was Desperation Road You might also like The Dry which takes place in Australia. It's the first book in a series but it didn't leave me hanging for the next

PLEASE NOTE:
PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Thanks.
