PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Thanks.

Amber - some interesting choices this month

Dana and Mandy, House of Leaves is one of the most original and creepy books I've read.
Slade House is creepy too and would make a good Halloween read. It's also pretty short. hmm

I decided to eliminate from my choices every book I wanted to read this month that wasn't available except through inter library loan, Mandy. ILL is usually so slow I end up waiting up to three months from something, which means I'd be probably waiting until December for something like Dog-Ma and I'm no longer willing to wait more than two weeks for something through ILL.

Perri, if you like creepy that you should read Ann's new book London Noir the perp is so creepy and Ann managed to crawl into his mind and show all the extend of his evil. I loved the book but still wasn't able to finish it :-(

It wasn't a matter of forgetting what I ordered, Mandy. It's more a matter of not being able to choose more than two of my highest vote getters every month I'm stuck WAITING for the one I sent out for via ILL.

In other words it's a choice between the normal 3rd place book or waiting for a previous month's 3rd place recipient... .

Yes, Perri. Ann makes an excellent job in showing the perp's thoughts - it's so chilling - I think most of you will love it - I'm just too chicken but that's life.

Good for you to want to paricipate. Did you read the first one in series? I loved this one as well. It was borderline for me but I managed to finish it - the second is much more intense. Did you see London Noir will be free the first two or three days of November?

I did see it will be free. Ann says it can work as a stand-alone which is good since I don't have the time to read the first. I don't mind violence as long as it makes sense to the story and preferably not kids or animals involved.

It's not so much violence I struggled with by the intense, creepy emotions and the foreboding of mighty evil and something really bad to happen and I only read the first eight chapters. It's so difficult to explain - kind of intense but suble mind games. I think it was the first time a book got too suspensfull for me - not violent just instense - edge of the seat feeling while reading in bed.

The Outsiders haa a strong lead. If that wins, I'll want to watch the famous movie too

Thanks for your votes everyone, so far Run by Blake Crouch is in the lead by 1 vote, which will help me tick off New Mexico in my 50 States Challenge, but to be quite honest I'm quite looking forward to reading all of them eventually... Halloween season just gave me a good excuse to lump them all together!

Seems like it's going to be an outstanding win for Angela Marsons this month. Actually, I was hoping the Douglas Adams one would come out on top - I could do with some laughs!

Talking of which - anyone like to recommend some funny books?

Some of my favorite books come from female comedians, especially Mindy Kaling if you like her humour, which I certainly do!

One I was surprised by and laughed out loud a few times last year was Where'd You Go, Bernadette - have you read this one?

Ok, my third book, Five Quarts, has arrived.

And the Hollywood book has font that ALMOST too small for me to read.

Was glad to read The Outsiders even though I thought it was dated. The Francis Ford Coppola movie is a hoot- so many young future star actors!

The last five star thriller I read was Desperation Road You might also like The Dry which takes place in Australia. It's the first book in a series but it didn't leave me hanging for the next

Actually enjoying both the book about blood and the canine impact on human history more than I did the one animals in Hollywood, mostly because they both have a font size I can read w/o magnification.

You might like books by Harlan Coben. He has a number of stand alones & a series. Tess Gerritsen has some stand alone and a great series.

Since I have begun reading my Oct. book already....I have stacked my new selections for PIFM. Hint, hint......
