Sadly the forum software is lacking for adding things beyond images but these are my top 30 series as of now that I'll be looking at. It doesn't include things I've already signed on for buddy reads or series in progress where I know new books are coming out. With the exception of Black Sun's Daughter and Hellequin which Nike and Margret have agreed to schedule since I made this list. Some I still may start this year as well.

Organized people are so fascinating

I'll have to think on it, but I think I'll be starting Drenai Saga for sure next year

Numbers 1, 2, 3 (need to continue), 4, 5, 7, 19, 21, 23, 24 and 29 are on my imaginary list as well. Number 13, Tales of the Kin was on it too, but I don't think the third book will ever come out because author is dealing with depression and decided to start a new series. I've read that on his website.

Bill | 2150 comments Scott, Douglas Hulick said he has no plans to finish the Tales of the Kin series. Think he has some anxiety issues and it was putting too much pressure on him.

So happy to see Inda on your list.

Only series I plan on starting are The Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan and Riftwar Saga by Raymond Feist. I have them in audio so know I will get to them. Have a bunch of Kindle series to start but need to get others done first.

Edit: Looks like Samir beat me to the Hulick news.

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments My plans for 2018 are as follows - this is in absolutely no particular order haha. There are a few that are higher priority though, which I may or may not begin before the year is over. Wheel of Time I already started, but that's obviously more than a year long commitment for me haha.

1. Malazan - this is a must, honestly. I plan on doing the BRs with the group, if everything works out.

2. Wheel of Time (Jordan).

3. Riyria Chronicles & Legends of the First Empire (Sullivan).

4. The Draconis Memoria (If I don't get to it by the end of 2017). This one is definitely high priority.

5. Long Price Quartet.

6. Gods of Blood and Powder & Powder Mage Novellas(McClellan).

7. Farseer Trilogy (Hobb). High priority.

8. Codex Alera (Butcher).

9. Books of Babel (Bancroft). High priority.

10. The Raven Cycle (Stiefvater). Gotta get my dose of YA =].

message 7: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments One major one that I have on my own pipeline is The Dagger & the Coin by Daniel Abraham. I've had it on my TBR for so long and on my "about to start" for as long as the first book has been out.

Honestly it's only through necessity. I feel like Jack the Pumpkin King running around yelling What's this? What's this? Every time I see a new book or series. Having the list dilutes my adult ADD.

Thanks a lot, Scott.
Now not only do I feel like a slacker for being completely unorganized, I have that song stuck in my head as well.

message 11: by Lundos (last edited Sep 28, 2017 08:41AM) (new)

Lundos | 392 comments I just started on Inda. All of my GR friends that have read it rated it 5 stars with gloving reviews and praises. That's quite an accomplishment these days.

Next series after that will probably be the A Shadow in Summer. Someone named Scott with a lot similar taste as me have it as #4 on his top 10 of all time series list. Which, of course, means I have to read it too.

Bill | 2150 comments So sad I won't have a Daniel Abraham epic fantasy series to do next year.

Stormdancer
Nevernight
Leviathan
The Red Knight
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms etc.

In that order. :D

Yea... I'm no good at planning reads that far out if you ignore Buddy Reads I sign up for... I'm more likely to try and get to whatever I'm interested in sooner...

The ones on my radar right now are:

Buddy Reads: Malazan, Temeraire, Gentleman Bastards, and Menagerie

Other Series: Riyria, Codex Alera, 1st Farseer trilogy #2-3, Powder Mage, Honey Badgers, Emperor's Edge

Scythe
Blackwing (already a BR)
The Guns Above
Age of Assassins (already a BR)
Faithless
The Court of Broken Knives

That's a lot of series... I've been hearing a lot about Long Price Quartet and Draconis Memoria recently... I might try those as well... I try not to click every book I see listed in lists like this... I don't need 1000 more books to read when you add all the books in each series...

message 28: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments In no particular order:

The Dagger & the Coin - (even bought the first book recently - BEFORE starting Niki's book buying ban challenge)

The Farseer trilogy - (really all of Robin' Hobbs' books)

Malazan series - (doing the BR here starting in Jan.)

Draconis Memoria

Raven's Shadow

Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne

Codex Alera

The Dark Tower - (I've read the first two but need to get back to it)

Worldbreaker Saga

Vampire Empire

Rot and Ruin

The Sanctuary Duet

Trade Pack Universe

Paladin's Legacy

The Chronicles of St. Mary's

@Bill: Sounds about right... the problem is that a lot of series aren't over, and also add more new releases you need to read to keep up each year...

I'm seeing a lot of potential for more Buddy Reads on these overlapping lists...

Happy to see people reading The Chronicles of St. Mary's... such a fun series...

Generally, if I like a series and a new book comes out, I WANT to read it... going forward I think most romance/PNR is going to end up Abandoned if/when a new release comes along, but for most UF series and the like, I'm invested and still enjoying them...

35/136 reads this year have been new releases... with 7 more planned... I have 30 shelved already for next year...

Why a couple of months for each? I don't really care I'm just curious. I'm trying to not commit to more than 3 buddy reads per month so I could do one of these combos which complies not doing back to back months.

Jan, May, July and Sep
May, July, Sep and Nov
June, Aug, Oct and Dec

For January the 17th.

May I can do anything starting between the 1st-10th

July and Sept anything 5 days before or after the 15th.

There's nothing saying we have to start them all the same day of the month so I'm trying to be as flexible as I can.
