I think that's kind of a reach, but you do you.

Sneha (drsnehakrishnan) | 42 comments I read Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House and think it fits this prompt..as well as the book with an ugly cover..hehe

Tytti | 355 comments I am listening to a book called "Heat" (or "Hot weather" or something) and I specifically chose it because there has been a heatwave here for weeks. Swimming barely helps because the lake water (and even sea water!) is so warm now, and though the weather cools a bit after sunset, the nights are so short and the sun shines 18 hours a day, it doesn't really help much, either. There have been people at the beach and swimming at 10 pm!

Apparently this July was the hottest July in the recorded history, beating the former record set in 1941. (Geez... fighting an active war in this weather, and many of the same soldiers had already fought one war when it might have been -40 degrees 1.5 years earlier. Well, I guess it's cooler in the forests...)

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I was planning to read either The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Safon or Storm Front by Jim Butcher (both of which I plan to read in the near future), but then I realized I had missed a Richard Castle book called Wild Storm and went with it instead. If any of you loved the TV series "Castle," you'll likely love the books written by the fictional character from the series as they are in the same style. Apparently the real author is a mystery, so that's fun.

Naina (naynay55) | 113 comments I read Women in Sunlight --> sunlight is my favorite kind of weather element!

Cyndy (cyndy-ksreader) | 133 comments I read Hello, Sunshine by Laura Dave. Are you the same person you were 14 years ago? We all grow and change over the years, maybe you are less adventurous, more of a home body, or some other change. These are changes that are more what we do than who we are. What happens to cause people to change who they are in a fundamental sense? Are you trustworthy? Could you, over time become a person that no one trusts, without even realizing you have changed who you fundamentally are? Interesting concepts, make for an interesting story, which, combined with social media exposure makes for an interesting read.

Nell | 16 comments I apologize if this was already answered. Is lightning a weather element? I tried to google it, but couldn't find much. I read "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" and hoping it counts.

The Chapter Conundrum (Stacey) | 404 comments I would totally say that lightning is a weather element 🙂

Alicia Ellsworth (sanukipityreads) | 160 comments If you read A Wrinkle in Time for on a different planet, then A Wind in the Door works here.

Anshita (_book_freak) | 268 comments I'm going to read A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. I meant to read this book for last year's reading challenge but couldn't. I will gladly read it for this one.

message 165: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments I read A Thousand Splendid Suns. I read (and loved) The Kite Runner a few years ago and it has remained with me. I was fascinated by the culture and political backdrop of Afghanistan and this book didn’t disappoint on that front either, teaching me more about a country and it’s people which I was ignorant of and which are never reflected so honestly in the media. Is this a better book…I don’t think I can call it. I loved that this one was more female focused, and Hosseini sure knows how to punch you in the gut with the heartbreak and abuse he puts his characters through. I felt so drawn to the relationship between Mariam and Laila, it was really the core of the story. My only gripe was that I wish their characters were more rounded, that more was made of their bond. Though I know if that were the case this book would have had me even more distraught than it did. The injustices in this book are devastating. This is a tough read, though in a different way to Kite Runner. You’ll still need tissues though, and you’ll come away from it with your social conscience lit up.

Nicole Is the title 'windburn' considered weather?

Windburn by Juliette Cross

message 168: by The Chapter Conundrum (Stacey) (last edited Sep 02, 2018 07:08PM) (new)

The Chapter Conundrum (Stacey) | 404 comments I think Windburn would count for the prompt!

I wouldn't consider windburn to be weather (it's the after effect of the weather) but I would absolutely consider wind to be weather and wind is still IN the title ;)

message 170: by Bridget (new)

Bridget | 8 comments Hurricane Season by Lauren K Denton has a lot of southern charm to it!

message 171: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 9 comments I have found a book that I really want to read with 'winter' in the title. Does that count, or does it need to be snow, rain etc?

message 172: by Nell (new)

Nell | 16 comments I think Winter might be a stretch because it is a season...

Rachel | 9 comments Nell wrote: "I think Winter might be a stretch because it is a season..."

Thanks, I thought that was probably the case.

message 174: by Nell (new)

Nell | 16 comments Stuff like rain, sleet, snow hail, sunshine, hurricane. Let me know if you need help finding something. I work at a library lol so I’m happy to help

message 175: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (trickpony1820) | 68 comments I picked Raining Cat Sitters and Dogs, a quick summer-read sort of mystery book. Not too deep, but it turned me on to a new series that I may read as I find more by this author at our library or a book sale.

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 608 comments Ugh... looking for more possibilities in case I don't get my hands on House of Sand and Fog: A Novel.

I think I own First Frost, The Year of Fog and The Lightning Thief.

I have so many books on my shelves and kindle(s) ( I still have access on my computer to my shared account with my ex- I made him log me in so I don't lose any books lol). I just lose track. I have no idea what I own, and so I end up with multiple copies sometimes!!

message 179: by Majo (new)

Majo | 9 comments Help! I need a happy feel good read and I've just got this one and more prompt to tick off. Would any of your recommendations fit the bill for a happy/feel good read with a weather element in the title?

message 180: by Brianna - (new)

Brianna - Four Paws and a Book (fourpawsandabook) | 13 comments Would you consider "stars" a weather element? We've said sun and moon are, so...

message 181: by Nell (new)

Nell | 16 comments Personally I wouldn’t because the stars, moon and sun are parts of the solar system whereas weather is more tangible. Whether can be used to describe the day such as sunny, windy, rainy, etc.

It depends on what makes a feel good read for you. Followed by Frost has a lot of sad/stressful emotions going on, but as a YA fairy tale re-write it's definitely a comfort type read for me. Similarly, The Lightning Thief is a fun middle grade adventure that I highly recommend if you enjoy that sort of thing at all.
