Noémie | 9 comments I must admit that I've never read a «feminist book». So I'm a little lost, that's why I would like yours advices about that. Where begin ?
Sorry if there is mistakes, english isn't my native language

Chloe (clolouwho) | 16 comments Hello Noémie,
I'd suggest looking through the books that have already been read here on Our Shared Shelf and picking up whichever ones interest you the most. I also recommend checking out We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, as it's an essay, but it gives a really good introduction to feminism in a clear and easy way.
I hope you're able to find what you're looking for!

Noémie | 9 comments Ok ! I will follow your adivices. The problem with the books that have already been read here is most of them doesn't exist in French, and I'm really bad in english.
But I will read the Throne of Glass.
Thank you !

Veronika (veronika_) I would say, as people before me already pointed out, We Should All Be Feminists is a good book to start with, but I would also highly recommend bell hooks' Feminism Is For Everybody. It's quite an easy read, you don't need any previous knowledge on feminism, but it's also much more complex than Adichie's book/essay. And while I found Rebecca Solnit's Men Explain Things To Me rather simple (even though it makes some very good points), I think it's a very good book to dive into if the topic is new to you.
I have no idea though, if those books are available in French. I know how it is, I am not an English native speaker either, and I hope you get to find at least some of the mentioned books in your language! Good luck :)

Megan Cheang | 97 comments I'm waiting for a YA feminist fiction book to be announced so I can see what everyone's opinions on it are. I've read some of the biographies mentioned but I still prefer YA.

I found this list for Young Adult feminist books, and I read some of them myself, maybe that is what you are looking for?

Same. I read some of them already. But what I meant is that I'm hoping one of the book of the months chosen by Emma will be YA, that way there will be active discussion around it. Thanks anyway :)
btw...was that link under Our Shared Shelf?

No it wasn't. I was google searching feminist YA books and landed there.
Haha, some of our members are old enough to have children who read YA books... I would definitely say yes to a YA book. YA books are really cool, they are about a very formative time in our lives...

On another note, I am always up for reading a YA book, is there one you want to read?

Megan Cheang | 97 comments As of now, I am currently on a book hiatus till exams are over T_T
So other than Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo, I can't think of any other feminist books I want to read. though there are plenty of YA books left on my reading list.
The one feminist book I def recommend for Our Shared Shelf is A Court of Mist and Fury, by Sarah J Maas. Or really any book by her. But she writes in series so... kind of impossible for that to be a book of the month.
