What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

*This is not a search for the Coulter book titled "Chandra"*

This was a romance novel, historical, heroine named "Chandra." Male Hero had a face scar and eye patch and trained/kept some type of hunting bird.
It was published prior to May 1981 as I was named after the heroine and that's when I was born.
Someone is trying to harm/kill the heroine in the book, she is pushed/falls down a flight of stairs.
