J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments Hey everyone, every so often when I am able to buy books, I like to support my fellow indie authors, because I know how it can be trying to market your books and getting nowhere. So if you are an INDIE (Self-published) AUTHOR, and you need some love, respond to this thread and link to your book(s) and I'll try to pick some up as I'm able.

*NB* Very important: This is NOT an offer to review your book. I do not in any way guarantee a review, although I may or may not do so.

Haha I foresee a very long list since I don't know of any author who wouldn't want that. Good luck :)

Kevin Moore (kevmoorewrites) | 63 comments Hi J. David,

I'm not sure if you are much of a fan of historical fiction but I'll suggest my book which you can find here:

As an indie author, I appreciate the love!

The idea is to pay it forward, GG! Maybe some folks will return the favor and we will all end up doing a better job supporting each other. :)

I understand. However, I just can't buy a book (now) that I don't foresee being able to read soon enough. I already bought many indies I haven't read yet.

Anyway, I bought one of yours (Missing Time) since contrarily to the title, I will find time to read it within a month or so. ;) I just can't commit in buying books just to buy books.

That being said, I'm not asking you to buy mine in return (especially that it's free on Smashwords (not on Amazon) for the month of July) As I said, if I can't commit, I won't ask others to commit.

Good luck with this idea. I can see a lot of good coming out of it. I just wished I could read faster. :P

I think this is great!! I think the Indie Author community is one of the most encouraging and supportive groups I've ever come across. I am always willing to help out as well!

I'm prepping for my first week long vacation with my hubby minus our one year old son, so I will read all of these!!! It will be a magnificent week!

J. David,

Which of yours do you recommend for a new reader?

Thank you Ann!
I picked up yours too and moved it to my next, which is starting to turn into a monster 0_o but all is good. I know I can do it. (Maybe not in a week, but soon.):p

message 19: by Ann (new)

Ann Andrews (annliviandrews) Thank you as well G.G.! I'm pushing for an epic summer reading adult program via Goodreads :) I loved my library's reading programs when I was a kid. Why don't they still have those for adults?? I'd like to win some paperbacks, a bouncy ball, or some other little toy like they gave me back when I was a youngster :)

J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments Kevin wrote: "Which of yours do you recommend for a new reader? "

If you just want to sample my writing style, THE RUBBERBAND MAN is a quick collection of stories that'll give you an idea of what I do. It's a REALLY odd amalgam of very short stories that do not share a common genre at all.

If you like YA fantasy, THE WIZARD IN MY WINDOW is a standalone which also serves as book 1 of a fun series, sort of like Harry Potter meets Jumanji.

If you like sci-fi, MISSING TIME is book one of a bit darker and somewhat insane series about a group of kids who gain strange powers after their school bus crashes.

Any of these is a good starting point! Thanks!

message 22: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Moore (kevmoorewrites) | 63 comments I picked up:

THE WIZARD IN MY WINDOW by J. David (I had to get it...it was published on my birthday!)

HOLLOWTOWNS: THE BEGINNING by Ann Livi Andrews

Thanks for the couple people who picked up THE GOLDEN MERRA. This was a lot of fun. I'm really grateful for the community in this group. It makes this writing thing a little easier knowing I'm not the only one crazy enough to try self publishing!

Samantha Strong (samanthalstrong) | 206 comments Very nice thread.

My book, Guarding Angel was released in May. I wouldn't expect anyone to buy it just to buy it (since I'm the same in return and I have specific tastes :P), but if you're interested, I wouldn't turn down a buy. ;)

I'm trying to get caught up on my TBR list this summer. I can't tell if I'm going to have extra time on my hands or not when I'm on mat leave until January, but if I do, I'll definitely keep this thread in mind.

Kindle US link: http://amzn.to/1jTRde0
It's also on Kobo, Google Play, Nook, and paperback format and you can find links here: http://bit.ly/GuardingAngel

Hey Sandrine, thanks for picking up Fate. :)
I just picked up a copy of your short stories. I was torn between the French book and this one because the other seemed good too. ;)
It's going to my 'next' shelf. That's my most urgent ones to read. Although it's getting longer, it's still a lot shorter than my regular to-read. It should be done soon.

message 34: by Harmony (new)

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) David, this is a wonderful and thoughtful thing to do! Bravo! With heartfelt gratitude, Harmony :))

@GG, thanks! The French one is my very first novel :) I'm translating it, but it's a longer process than I'd expected so I don't know when it will be available in English.

@Ann, thank you as well :)

Karey Wow! How fun!
My debut novel is currently entered in a Writer's Digest contest.
Crossing fingers that it's well received.

Very kind of you.
Thank you for wishing me well with the contest.
Crossing fingers & toes, then trying to remain too busy to think about it.
Thus far, I've thought of nothing else :D

Please everyone keep adding to this list, I will be buying more books in a few weeks. And, of course, lots of others have joined in the effort, so let's keep it going!

Brittany Willows (brittanymwillows) There are a whole ton of really interesting books here. I'm going to pick some up this weekend when my KDP payment comes in and hopefully find some time to actually read them!

I've got a science fiction with hints of fantasy and mystery and is told from both human and alien points of view. c: (It's currently available for 99c, just in case anyone wanted to pick it up before the sale ends on Thursday. ^-^ )

Dionne | 68 comments Hi I already picked up Wizard in my Window, Magpie and Jynx, and Missing Time. I liked all three though I've read Wizard and Magpie like twice already. lol

My book is out too. It's a science fiction story that seems to have a fantasy feel to it.

You can find it at Amazon. Um, I guess I should give you the link there instead of having to type in the title and stuff. Well okay. Though the book is also at Smashwords and until the 31st (my birthday that is) will be free), also at Createspace its there too.
