Catherine Milos | 18 comments Does anyone else feel like they are spread too thin? There is so much to do as an Indie - writing, publishing, editing, sourcing professionals, business operations, financial procurement, marketing and communications, networking, websites and social media, research, recording, formatting, printing, distribution, legal requirements and licensing, memberships, events and signings, purchasing supplies and equipment, consignment....

How do you manage?

With a to-do list. Check out the four-part article I'm writing on Medium.

https://medium.com/me/stories/public

Also look up Indie Author's Monthly Magazine. Lots of the authors from here have written about how they tackle those issues. You'll pick up some great tips and perhaps share some of your own.

It is very challenging to manage your time when there is so much to do. I have yet to master it, but I can say that you need to make sure prioritize what is most important to you at the time. I also make lists. Whatever you do, make time for yourself and your family everyday. You could work on your "to-do" list ALL day if you let yourself, but you will burn out quickly.

So true, Erica. I have worked several jobs my entire life. It's all about time management and jettisoning the time suckers, things that waste moments that could be used for you, your family, your responsibilities, and writing.

I don’t.
My life is insane right now.
Truly insane.
God, it’s insane.
Did I say it was insane?
*slams head*

I need about a million dollars right now to allow me to just WRITE lol.

Anyways, I promised myself that I’m going to get everything together in 2018.

It will wait- Everything will wait for you. Stop setting such high standard. They are artificial. We put too much pressure on ourselves for perfection.

I like the dips and hollows. They make me reflect my directions.

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I’ve felt spread too thin for 17 years. My own kids, ailing parents who have now died, a business I run where the buck stops with me and the nature of it means no-one can step in at any point to take over because I’m the qualified one. A disability/disorder/syndrome. I’m pleased I have a husband who shares some of the house/kids duties. I couldn’t do it on my own. Oh and then there’s writing and everything that goes with that.

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments I'm in a constant state of too-thinness (timewise, not weightwise). And with my wife's illness, a lot of things are just not getting done now, or not done consistently or well. Sometimes you have to decide what's important and what's not, and actually jettison what's not.

I'd jettison my day job, but my creditors don't like it when I suggest that. ;-)

Michael Benavidez | 19 comments Oh definitely. I just became a stepdad and holy crap do I feel like there's so much to do. I'm running around doing this doing that, then remember there needs to be writing and editing.
Slowly falling into a schedule but that thinness is still there.

Being a stepdad sounds like hard work!

Michael Benavidez | 19 comments It can be Judy. A great kind of hard work, but it really is a sudden change from single life and responsibilities to a whole new set of things to do and take care of.
