Janice (jamasc) | 59919 comments I just finished reading the Riyria Revelations written by Michael J. Sullivan. Starting with Theft of Swords, then Rise of Empire, and finishing with Heir of Novron.

This series is in the style of The Lord of the Rings in what is called high fantasy. If you're looking for fantasy in the style of the Twilight Series, someone else might have some recommendations for you.

Welcome to our group! I hope you enjoy it.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11460 comments Don't know how new a "new release" is to you. Here are some to think about though.

Life After Life
The Graveyard Book
Stardust
The Book of Flying
The Night Circus
Genesis
The Giver
The Time Traveler's Wife

For mythology Kevin Hearne mashes every conceivable legendary creature/god into one long adventure series in The Iron Druid Chronicles.

Patrick Rothfuss' The Kingkiller Chronicle series may be to you liking for High Fantasy.

Casceil | 2728 comments There is another Goodreads group called Fantasy Afficionados. Last year they ran a series of polls and put together "An Aficionado’s Guide to The 20 Best Urban Fantasy Novels of the Last Decade." Here is a link to their list:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

In many cases, what is listed is either a series or the first book in the series. For example, Storm Front is the first book in a series about a wizard named Harry Dresden, and the whole series is what actually made the list. The most recent books in the series are recent bestsellers, including Cold Days and Skin Game, but it would be better to start with books earlier in the series.

That group also put together a list of the top 100 fantasy books of all time. Here is that link:

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I download a lot of new books on www.storycartel.com.
You can download books for free in exchange for your honest review. Lots of fantasy there, too!

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Anything Brandon Sanderson. I cannot speak for his YA titles though. He writes an equal amount of ya and adult fantasy
