Blagica | 12941 comments No need to be sorry. It is a thread Kara sets up where our members send and receive books from each other without knowing who sent it.

oshizu | 5762 comments Is there any way to find a group member's Personal Challenge space? I wanted to post on someone's page who I'm not friends with . But there are so many Personal Challenge threads that I gave up. :/

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments If you know the member's name, you can do a search in the "search discussion posts" bar. Choose topic only. That should make it easier.

Another way would be to members and see if you can find them there as well. By tapping on their names, all of their posts come up.

This works great as long as their name isn't something like Amy or Susan...we have a lot of those.

Thank you. I started through the Members list but it is loooooong.
I will be patient and wait until they post to their personal challenge space. :D

Well that's an even better idea!
For some reason, I thought I could send a PM to a group member unless we were friends already.
Thank you for the tip! I'll try it!

Johanna | 766 comments Goodreads help! I startes my Member Corner. I thought I will paste the challenges that interest me and then edit them as I get ideas which books would suit the challenge. But now I noticed I can't edit a post I have posted! Surely there is a way to edit?

message 110: by Amy (new)

Amy (ladyames20203) I am very new to this so I’m not sure how it works. I’ve made the thing in the 1-25 books but do I also have to make my member corner thing? I don’t really plan on participating in challenges so can I just use my topic (if that’s what it is) in the 1-25 to keep track of how I’m going or should I have done that the other way around? Sorry I don’t really know the terminology and I have no clue what I’m doing

Johanna, there should be an edit button in the bottom right corner of every comment, between reply and delete. Are you using the desktop version? Editing comments is not possible in the app.

Amy, you don't have to make a member corner if you don't want to. It is all up to you! You can keep track of all the books you read in your personal challenge topic :)

Thanks Blagica! It works from the link and it shows in the folder when I pull it up on my laptop but not in my app. I'm gonna delete the app and reload it to see if it shows up. Thanks again for your help!

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments This seems to have been a common problem the last couple days because many of you have been asking this question.

Goodreads.com has good days and bad days, and we just have to be patient sometimes.

message 121: by Hans (new)

Hans | 5 comments Hi Moderators,
I tried to add a link to a book in my post in the 2019 reading challenge (1-25) by using the square brackets.

The title The Great Sea shows up in the post as a link, but when I click it after posting the app seems to hang with the message “loading...”.

I am using the iPhone Goodreads app.

Could you please help me?
Thanks!

I checked out the link and it seems to work (on a desktop), but it links to the search results for The Great Sea, not the book itself.
I generally recommend using the desktop version of the site (on a pc or your phone), for anything more complicated than reading comments, as the app still lacks a lot of functions. In the desktop version there is the option add book/author just above the comment box that you could use to add a link to your book.
Hope this helps!

The Queen of Toads (thequeenoftoads) I was wondering when it comes to the challenge, do most people including things like graphic novels and short stories as part of their challenge. For example, the Saga series in the volume forms. It seems a bit of a cheat when I do it, so I was wondering what people think.
I don't normally include short stories. Novella, yes, but not short stories.
Anyone got thoughts on this?

Smee, I hardly read any graphic novels or short stories, but if I do I count them towards my challenge, and I think that most people do.
If you would like to have responses from many members, it is best to create a topic in our Group Discussions folder.

message 126: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Smee,

Ilona and Kristin (who are both great Moderators!) gave you great answers, but I'm going to give you the official Group Answer we have been giving since the group began:

If you count it as a book, we count it as a book! It's up to you.

I think most people know after they have read something whether they have read something of substance or not.

message 127: by Chanel (new)

Chanel Joyce | 19 comments Hi, I have no idea if this is the best place to ask. There's a book that is up for a buddy read that I'd like to read as well, how do you sign up to be part of a buddy read??

message 128: by Chanel (new)

Chanel Joyce | 19 comments Wait, so should I look for the book I want to read, or should I just put a comment that says "I'd like to join this buddy read", sorry if that's a lot of questions!

message 129: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12941 comments If it is for a future/planned buddy read, you can go to to the link Kristin provided and say I'd also like to join the reading of this book. Hope this helps

message 130: by Alix (new)

Alix (alixbrand) I have a question- I just joined this group a few days ago and am doing some of the challenges. One I am doing is the 2019 Popsugar challenge. I started this on my own at the beginning of the year but just discovered the group... Can I count the books I already read for it in the challenge or should I redo them? I think there are 3 :)

message 131: by Alix (new)

Alix (alixbrand) Kristin wrote: "Hi Alix, you can count all books that you finished in 2019 for the yearly challenges regardless of when you join. So yes, please go ahead and count those 3 or so books!"

Thank you :)!

message 132: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments Hello! I have a question about nominating books for group reads. I know that you need nominate stand alones or first in the series, but what are the rules on books that can be read as stand alones but aren't the first. For example (not that I plan to do this in the near future!) series like The Babysitter's Club, where each book can be read as an individual one, but may say #12 or something? Just curious, just in case it ever pops up!

message 133: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12941 comments Ashleigh according to the rules on the page
~ Please do not nominate books that are part of a series, unless it is the first book in a series. I would stick to just starting at number 1 and if it gets chosen you can always continue the series as a Buddy Read. I will double check with the other Mods just to be sure.

Hi James.

Thank you for your input, we appreciate it. Discord is a great tool and I use it a lot for gaming related communities. We have decided however it's not right for this group for different reasons.

It can be a bit of a dicey decision to make, especially with so many trolls out there.

Marc *Dark Reader with a Thousand Young! Iä!* (marcthedarc) | 660 comments Presumably at least some of you mods are also Goodreads librarians. How can I report an error in a series listing? Someone put their own self-published book into an official series. It irks me and I don't know where to flag this for possible changing.
