Author Bio: A former elementary school teacher and subsequent lover of the English language in the written word, Tracy Slonaker found several new hobbies after embarking on the new career of motherhood. One hobby was running distances, which gave her plenty of time to create characters, build plots, and listen for God’s input. The result of all this thinking was the birth of a new hobby: writing the Angelmen Series, an analogy of God’s love for His people. Amity of the Angelmen is the first installment of this series.
Tracy enjoys her life as a wife and mother of three in just outside Reading, PA. She still has a soft spot for kids and an eagerness to use her degrees in Elementary Education by using them as Director of Christian Education at her non-denominational Christian church. She has also learned to love running, and has not given up her childhood fondness of sports (playing softball and watching football). She gives thanks to the Lord for all His good gifts.
Book Series Name: Amity of the Angelmen/ Angelmen Series, Book 1
Book Description: Amity David is not human, as the seventeen-year-old pastor's daughter had thought she was. Her life has now been upturned and possibly set aright with the help of Mackenzie Abel, a young priest as conflicted about his calling as Amity is about hers. Blindly searching for answers together that will serve God's intent, the two also struggle against feelings they have developed for one another. Can Amity trust the alleged angel who told her she is descended from a demon? Part of her hopes not because, if true, it means she is being called to help free others like her from the ties of her evil heritage through war. What happens when a being created out of evil, is called to fight on the side of good? And what if this evil being thinks she is a good person, only to find she is not even a person at all?

Q&A
Do you have a Guilty Pleasure book?
All books are a guilty pleasure! But, To Kill a Mockingbird is my go-to. And I love reading Fox in Socks to kids in class.
What is your favorite quote?
"Accidents happen, but it doesn't mean we have to dance in the puddles."
What is your favorite movie and why?
A League of Their Own. Geena Davis made being a catcher... who is #8... who bats 3rd... and led her team in HRs glamorous. (Just so happened the year that came out, I was a catcher... #8... batted 3rd... and led my team in HR's!)
What is your favorite genre to read? To write?
Realizing how much I like to read historical fiction now, esp. based in the 1960's with a race-relations overtone. Or the 40's about the Holocaust. Also, I enjoy YA that isn't too full of romantic angst. As far as writing, I definitely enjoy writing YA. Christian work is easiest for me, but I have lately enjoyed writing sports novels!
Which authors inspire you?
I most love C.S. Lewis. I also enjoy Frank Peretti.
What is the best part about being an author?
Writing! Making up characters and being in control of their lives is quite empowering.
Give us an insight into your main character. What do they do that is so special?
Seeing the growth Amity goes through should give you a sense of relief. She is awkward in the beginning and a little unsure of herself. Also, as a bit of a goody-goody, she might be hard to relate to. So, to see her importance and grasp what it will take for her to do God's will should be hard for anyone to swallow. Coming to terms with it will probably be enjoyable. In later books, Amity will be much more likable and down-to-earth -- just in time to help the other characters with their identity crises!
What was the hardest thing about writing your last book?
The last book I WROTE in this series was the 7th book. (Not published yet.) I guess the hardest part was wrapping it up and saying goodbye to these characters.
T.C.’s Additional Comments: Looking forward to answering your questions. The first 4 books are paraquels - happening to their representative characters all at the same time - and the last chapter of each book shows how they all meet from that character's perspective. The 5th book is where things really pick up and is the climax of the series. Personally, I think that book is the most exciting, and I am dying for my readers to get to it! I encourage you to give it a try, and hang on throughout. Thank you! (Genre: YA fantasy and Christian)
