If you haven't heard already, Theatre Calgary announced our upcoming 51st Season this past Monday evening. You can find the information here: https://www.theatrecalgary.com/2018-1...
With all the excitement, I apologize for being a couple days late on our first discussion for our next book, THE CORRECTIONS by Jonathan Franzen to correspond with our upcoming play, THE HUMANS by Stephen Karam.
Years ago I worked in a book store and remember when this book was released. Everyone was reading it, and I couldn't appreciate it back then. It has, however, remained on my list and I am excited to finally be reading it. THE CORRECTIONS was the recipient of the National Book Award in 2001 and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 2002.
1. What are your first impressions of Alfred and Enid's relationship?
2. Chip seems to be holding a lot of resentment towards his parents for past contentions. Do you think these are properly founded? Unhealthy?
3. This will be a recurring question as we read on in this story. Looking at the first couple chapters, what is your opinion of the significance of the title, "The Corrections"?
I'll be back next Tuesday for our next discussion.
