I may be a few days late on this one. Waiting on my library wait to come due.

message 3: by Sha (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sha | 1522 comments I started this one early and kept going. The pre Narnia bits were engrossing enough to keep me going.

This one is read by Seanan McGuire herself... only other book I've read like that was Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman...

Sha | 1522 comments Seriously. The Narnia bits are less horrifying than the pre-narnia ones and that's saying something. o.O

I finished it again... forgot a lot of details... same general feeling as before... I wish these were longer and you got to see more... knowing how their story ends in the first book makes me want to know more... you don't get that satisfying happy conclusion of an actual Narnia/Narnia-clone book... these are more gritty/ "real"...

I liked this a lot more than book one. Very good story and loved the Nightmare Before Christmas type of world.

For sure... they get me every time... this is my 3rd reading of the first 2 books, I think... not sure I've re-read books 3 (definitely not 4)...

Every time I re-read book 1, I forget how the Jack/Jill events of book 1 can mesh with the events of book 2, but in the end, they always do...

My main problem with the prequels, is they leave you unsatisfied at the end, because they're very much unfinished stories... you don't get the happy endings (if there's one to have) until a present day story shows them returning Home... it's like if Nancy gets a prequel, and we get to see her in the Halls of the Dead, until the day she's kicked out... but it ends before the events of book 1 can show her return Home...

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) | 1229 comments I'm about a third through and I'm enjoying it so far, I'm interested to actually meet the characters they were talking about in book one.

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments @Iain I see what you mean, I like a good satisfying ending so this may be a problem for me.

@Elizabeth I'm excited to get further in. I'm scared to meet the Master.
