It would not surprise me if this series is inspired by the friendship of Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary (Wollstonecraft) Shelley.

Like Frankenstein Mary Shelley? Interesting. I'm sad I don't know enough about them to pick up on any references.

Yes. The very same. Frankenstein came about because of a story telling contest the three of them had. Mary won. 😀

The novel seems to take place around 1715 (when Voltaire was exiled). Which makes sense because France still had a king and was not at war with England.

Wishing I hadn't hated history so much when I was growing up.

I'm rather fascinated by the introduction of epilepsy and how it was perceived during this time period. I don't know much about epilepsy or how it's treated today. It's given me a lot to think about.
