Review: So as usual with this series I had so hard time getting into it. There was so many things happening at once. Someone wants to kill Simon. Simons dating problems. Jace seeing dreams and he's relationship with Clary is because of it on rocks. The book started to make sense to me in the end, before that it was too all over the place.

Lol. I hated Kings as well....I never got past the 10% mark.

Kate and Curran can't catch a break with new foes and a power hungry Roland.
I don't like books with kids in them but baby Conlan was a bundle of cuteness I could not resist.
I'm a bit bereft....is it really the end?
I will live in hope for a spin-off series but I don't buy into Hugh turning a new leaf. He was portrayed too long as evil in my mind for me to really care and relate to his plight.

I'll have my Freebie book review done later today.

I was fully expecting this to be the last week, but Mr R is funny like that.

Book: Darkhouse by Karina Halle

Review: This is a ghost story and I have to say its not really good. I hated the main character and the way she is, drives me crazy. She constantly questions everything about herself and in the end of the book she doesn't get she sees ghosts. And I feel the story wasn't finished the way I wanted. The ghost they met in the lighthouse asked help from her in a weird way and she didn't help him. So for me the main issue in the story was unsolved.

Review:
Samantha Moon, former Federal Agent, wife, mother of 2, now PI and a Vampire. Six years after the attack that changed her life forever, she's struggling to manage her soccer mum life whilst pretending to still be normal, just with a sun-sensitivity disease. The only one that knows is the husband.
Her newest client is a Werewolf, Defense Attorney who wants to know who shot him five times in front of the Court House. He is the first supernatural being she has met.
I quite liked the premise of this story but it dragged a little and seemed to take little side trips along the way. I did like that she had helpful friends, some of whom suspect but don't seem to care. Her marriage doesn't survive and no doubt this will form a major part of the following books because she wants her children back.

Review: Warrior Captain of the Demons Elijah is fatally wounded in a traitor demon led necromancer ambush. But before he is killed Queen Siena of the Lycanthropes in puma form rescues him fearing a war with the Demons if he is killed on Lycanthrope land. She takes him to a safe place and heals him. Their attraction is powerful and forbidden across species. Siena is also trying maintain a delicate peace between the two breeds that is very new. Besides this problem Elijah is still trying to capture the traitor demons who are trying to eradicate the demons. Destiny and Fate, the Element powers of the Demons and shapeshifter laws all play a part in this sensual paranormal series. Good story.

I did not know what to expect from this book since it's a new author for me. I was impressed with the depth of character development, for a sci-fi romance book, and the world building had a different take on mars needs women.
In a society with a genetic taint, life expectancy is about 40 years unless you are lucky enough to be chosen by a female, mate and maybe slow the progress of the taint. The taint is a physical manifestation on the skin, those afflicted become unseen cheap labor and incapable of attracting a female. This problem that affect more than 70% of the population is swept under the rug and flesh trade is seen as the only option to prolong life of the tainted.
As much as I liked Amalia, born and raised on a slaver's ship, I was more interested in Lhor and Khel because they were the other half of each other's soul. It created a dynamic of jealousy, guilt and grief that made my heart go out to them.

Imperator Galen mounted a rescue to free Sam Santos from Zaabha, the rogue fightiing arena in the desert, and end up staying behind with Sam.
Since it's the last book of the series, there is not much that can be told without unveiling all the plot.
Like every other reader, I wanted to see Galen out of his self imposed role of caretaker for his house. He has given everything for his gladiators, keeping himself apart physically and emotionally. Galen and Sam were well matched, bringing the series to a close on a satisfying note.

Book: Ghost Story by Jim Butcher

Review: The previous book ended the with the death of the main character and in this book, we saw him as ghost. As usual this book was full of action and butt kicking. And Chicago has become this very dark and dangerous place to be. Spoiler alert it has kind of happy ending.

Really 3.5 stars.
Directly following #1 Choosing Riley, in fact overlapping at some points the action picks up with Viper, King Voxs' brother being sent to Earth to bring back Grandma Pearl & sister Tina as well as giving incriminating documents to the local law enforcement that Riley had obtained.
Much of the story takes place on Earth with lots of to-ing & fro-ing when Viper realises that Tina is his mate. (view spoiler)
This one wasn't as good as the previous book, not bad, just not as good. There wasn't as much of a connection between the MCs.
Of course the traitors are still lurking around.
I'll be reading the next book when it is published.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Willa's Beast by Ruby Dixon
Rating: 4✮
Date Read: 30/11/2018
# Pages: 294
# Times: Once
I like Ruby's writing, even if it can get predictable. There is only so many stories you can make on a ice planet with a hunter/gatherer tribe.
What I like are the little things, the hidden depths of the
characters. In this case it's Gren, created by slavers to fight in arenas and fatten his owner's bank account. He's a created warrior from a bunch of body parts, pumped full of stimulants and anti-rejection drugs to keep him from falling apart. He has known no kindness, no friendship, childhood or manners.
Willa, after being rescued from the slaver's ship, wants to connect with this raging beast that no one can calm down.
It was quite fun to read this take on beauty and the beast.

Review: There are three main plots winding through this volume of the Mercy Thompson series. Mercy is being sabotaged by some members of Adam's Pack; who wants her out and why? A book borrowed from a local shop keeper on magic is suddenly wanted by an unknown source who is willing to kill to get it; why this sudden interest and from whom? And lastly, Samuel, loner werewolf, doctor and roommate of Mercy's is being taken over by his wolf side; can Mercy get Samuel back in control before he gets put down? Love these characters; lots of action and angst.

Review: This was so good! It started slow, but the twisted in the book make up for it. I really enjoyed the story and the ending is priceless and makes me wanna go and read the next book in the series like now. I know its vague review, but I don't wanna give any spoilers, so you can be as surprised by it as much as I was :)

Review:
Frankie, sculptor, half wolf shifter is raised by her human grandparents & uncle after her parents are tragically killed when she is 3. There is bad blood from the humans, so Frankie doesn't know her shifter relatives at all. Until her Aunt Lydia calls asking her to meet her other Grandmother who is dying.
Trick, an Enforcer from the Phoenix Pack, loves that he has finally found his mate but knows that she will need time to come to terms with it as she doesn't know pack ways & is reeling from the lies that her human relatives have told her all her life. Frankie was straightforward, strong, non angsty and very focused. Loved her.
The mystery was well done, though I did figure out half of it, and there was also a sub-plot of Extremist/Shifter mob boss trying to muscle in on Trey's territory.
Very happy to keep reading this series.
