G.R. Paskoff (grpaskoff) | 58 comments When is Marvel going to make a movie for the Micronauts? That was one of my favorite comic series that Marvel put out back in the 1980's. The success of GotG has certainly demonstrated that there is an interest in epic sci-fi. And the Micronauts had a great plot and interesting characters: Baron Karza, Arcturus Rann, Biotron, just to name a few. And those of you who are old, like me, may even remember the toys. (They were awesome!)

Instead, it looks like Marvel is pursuing trademark characters such as the Black Panther and Ant-Man for the big screen. Ant-man? Really? At least there could be some traction in finally making an Alpha Flight movie.

Trike | 11199 comments Other than Bug, who was a creation of the comic writer, Marvel doesn't own the license to Micronauts. They were toys first, then comics. I had both Baron Karza and Acroyear. I just saw my Acroyear toy at my parents' house a few months ago. No idea whatever happened to the Baron.

G.R. Paskoff (grpaskoff) | 58 comments Hmmmm. You're right. I guess Marvel only bought the rights to write the comic series. Not sure who owns the movie rights. Still it would make for a good bunch of movies and would tie in to the GotG universe as there were several crossover plots between the microverse and the universe during the comic series.

Joseph | 2433 comments I still have a box of mostly-broken toy fragments in the other room. And most of the Marvel comics. The licensed series (Micronauts, Shogun Warriors, Rom: Spaceknight) were the first books I seriously collected.

I wish they'd reprint them but I don't think they have licenses any more. Which is one problem with integrating that stuff into the larger Marvel universe -- I think they've revived Spaceknights in some of their recent titles, but couldn't bring back Rom proper.
