Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed #8 (bus) - The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne. I really enjoyed Boyne's writing! There were some beautiful images he conveyed. Overall, I liked the story, but I found it hard to connect with the characters. I liked them more towards the end, but I just couldn't sink into the story as I wanted. The history it conveyed, however, was stark and important. I received this book as a free giveaway in exchange for my honest review. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed #3 (food you haven't tried) - Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler. Maybe it was the author's plan, or maybe just her writing progressed, but the writing was half-formed at the start and became much clearer towards the end of the book. Either way, it made for a confused beginning. Like I said, she might have been mirroring the progression of the main character, but I did not find it incredibly enjoyable. I did like the description of the restaurant life. and her descriptions of food, taste, and drink were impeccable. I'm intrigued enough to check out the show. Worth reading. 3.5 stars
