Buddy Reads discussion

We'll read a total of 7 books for each Reading Sprint. A book a day. The books will be read in the order of the highest votes and so on (or whatever order they'll be written in the next comments). Participants will update their progress each day after reading the book and each book will be discussed on the day that it's read.

You'll update your progress the same way you did for other challenges (e.g. if you read 5 books of out 7-you're progress will be 5/7).

Don't forget to add spoiler tags!

I like this one so far. It’s definitely not what I expected though. It’s not as easy to read as I thought it would be. I’ll keep trucking along and hopefully it’ll pick up some.

I haven't started it yet but I am going to in a while and hoping to finiah it with today's book :)

I’m the same way with The Magic Toyshop!! It’s totally creepy and I wasn’t expecting that at all!!!

I want to read more but I feel like I am in a slump now. I just can't seem to get off GR!

Finished the Magic Toyshop!
Can't say I liked it, it was weird and had no plot, only a series of events that happens to Melanie
And that ending, so glad in reading a Roald Dahl after cause that was so depressing Haha

I am really not enjoying it either. I am not a fond of Melanie at all! I think it's because of the events in the start.

The end just felt so over dramatized !

Anywho, I finished Charlie and the chocolate factory and I loved it! I always do Haha!

Progress update 2/7

Great! I loved it too!

Started the third book but was sleepy so just read the prologue and even that broke me a little bit.
It will be a quick but breaking read.

I'll update the participants when I wake up!

When Breath Becomes Air is not such an easy read as I thought. The prologue definitely made me sad but the Part 1, it wasn't about Paul's sickness. It's about his medical years and I didn't think I'd be into it but I am lost!

My heart won't slow down and my eyes don't wanna blink. I've seen the organs, the faces, but this connects me like no other.

I’ve finished The Magic Toyshop and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! It was super cute and makes me want to watch the original again!! The Magic Toyshop was definitely not what I thought it was. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either.

I finished Matilda! And I absolutely had fun reading this!
I love it how it's almost the same as the movie, and it was just as funny and charming
Although I'm glad that we get to know where her powers may have come from

I read today's book some time ago. Review:

I don't quite know how I'm supposed to review this one. I know I enjoyed reading it though it depressed me and made me angry at times at the violence and cruelty people show to animals.
That I just can't stand.

As for the writing. it was addictive. I didn't think I'd enjoy a book with Buck being the narrative but it was really fascinating. Reading about how Buck changed from being a civilized and naive dog to a wild and cunning wolf was a great experience.

“Old longings nomadic leap,
Chafing at custom’s chain;
Apart from its brumal sleep
Wakes the ferine strain”

I can see why it's a classic and adored by everyone. I would totally recommend this.

Is there a lot of cruelty and violence? I can’t stand to see animals suffer....

Not that lot but whipping them to train them and to force them to drag their share of weight.
