Hi! My name is Cassandrah Woyak, and I've created this group to help with finding books to fulfill the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2019, because I can search the internet, but I don't know if anyone actually would recommend it! I also thought it would be fun to see how others are doing with this challenge, and see how everyone else if fulfilling the topics. So I thought we'd answer a few questions to get to know everyone :)

What is your favorite genre of books?
Who is one of your favorite authors?
What is one of your all time favorite series?
How many books did you read last year, and did you do a challenge?
Why did you join this group and choose this challenge?

My favorite genre of books are dystopian novels (my handle on instagram is @dystopiannovelsfanatic), fantasy, and fairytale. I especially love any combinations of these.
One of my favorite authors is Sarah J. Maas. I love both series she has, and plan to read Catwoman for this challenge!
An all time favorite series of mine is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. If you haven't read it and love beauty and the beast retellings, pick this up!
I read 126 books last year, however I did not do a challenge. I did a challenge in 2017 (reading only all new books) and needed a year off to do a lot of re-reading.
I chose this challenge because it looked like it would get me out of my comfort zone, which is why I love doing challenges, and would help me not keep rereading all the same books.

Sonya (thelibrarianin3b) | 93 comments Hello :)

My name is Sonya. I'm a public librarian which means I'm always surrounded by books and also explains my never-ending TBR list.

My favorite genres of books are probably myth/fairytale retellings, feel-good fluff romance, and urban fantasy/paranomal.

Some of my favorite authors are Sarah J Maas, Anne Rice, Kevin Hearne, Neil Gaiman, and Katie Fforde.

Some of my more recent favorite series are Midnight, Texas series by Charlaine Harris, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas, and the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne.

I read 60 books last year, although I intended to read 75 at first, and I didn't do a challenge.

I joined the group because I realized last year that accountability really helps me read more. In a weird way, having a 'deadline' like with a book club keeps me motivated, so I thought joining a group where we talked about our choices would help keep me more consistent. Plus I just like talking about books.
I chose this challenge because I really do want to branch out more in the types of books I'm reading and the prompt list really seems to cover a lot of different areas.

my handle on instagram, litsy, and youtube (never used but maybe oneday) is @LibrarianIn3B.

Nice to meet you.

Melissa Palzewicz | 2 comments Hi, I'm Melissa. I live in Maine. I changed jobs last year and am fortunate that my new job allows me time that I didn't have before to explore hobbies and interests. Before it was work! work! work! Reading has come back into my life in a big way in the past 6 months so this is my first time ever doing a reading challenge. So excited!

I can't pick a favorite genre...I love it all. Contemporary fiction, historical fiction, dystopia, fantasy/Sci-fi, Non-fiction, Memoirs. I can tell you easier what I don't like - I'm a giant chicken so can't do true crime and am careful on the horror front.

I'm not sure I can pick a favorite author either. Some of my favorites include Alice Hoffman, JK Rowling, Sarah Addison Allen, Daohne Du Maurier, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Charlaine Harris, and oh so many more!

I can't pick my all time favorite series - Harry Potter, hands down. That's an easy one.

See above about this being my first challenge. I didn't keep good track of my reading until late in the year. My 2018 shelf has 38 books on it. I'd guess it's closer to twice that number in reality, though.

I chose this challenge because I really like the variety it offered. My Goodreads challenge number is 104 books - 2 per week, so this covers about half of them. I hope that it pushes me outside of my comfort zone to read stuff that I may not normally pick up on my own.

My Instagram is @missysuepal.

Thanks for starting the group! I look forward to meeting and learning from everyone!
Melissa

Hi all!! My name is Christi and I am from Indiana. I currently work as a Service Coordinator for a Facility Management company but have a background and degree in the Hospitality field. I used to love reading in my free time but before i left the hospitality industry to do what I’m doing now i did not always have much free time. I just recently started getting back into reading and decided to make a goal of 50 books in 2019 and participate in this Popsugar reading challenge.

My favorite genre is non fiction books. Hands down. I will read just about anything but i love love love mom fiction books.
My favorite authors include Lemony Snicket and JK Rowling
My favorite series is either Harry Potter or The Series of Unfortunate Events. Hence why my favorite authors are Rowling and Snicket lol.
Last year i read maybe 4 books. But i don’t remember ever actually finishing an entire book. I know that’s really sad haha
I did not participate in at challenges last year either.
I joined this group because my friend Cassandrah made it lol and to also meet others that love to read and to learn about books others are reading or recommend!

Maylin | 5 comments Hi all, I am Maylin and I live in rural France (though I am British). We have been building our own home here for nearly 20 years but only recently started taking it seriously. In the meantime we live in yurts. I am an indie yarn dyer and knitwear designer.

Due to ill health I work at a slow pace so have plenty of time for reading even though I am a slow reader. I listen to audiobooks a lot as I can work at the same time.

For a few year now I have set a GR goal of 100 books and always reach or exceed that. This year I though I would change it up a bit and accept this challenge.

My favorite genres are SF (Speculative Fiction to include Science Fiction, Fantasy and other similar genres - I hate the term Sci-Fi it sounds so comic book). Dystopian probably being my favorite sub category. I also devour crime/mystery/thriller books.

I can't pick a fave author or series - too many to mention and ever changing.

Tammy | 6 comments My name is Tammy. I live in Northern Indiana. I just now joined the group because I love to read. I have stacks of books that haven't been read because I never had the time to read them. I like to read any good book, mostly Romance fiction-favorite is Nicholas Sparks; English Historical books by Philippa Gregory; James Patterson and really anything good. Some favorite series are Unfortunate Events, HP, Hunger Games, The Maze Runner and Percy books. I am hoping this group will get me to read more than the two books that I read for a challenge last year.
5/21/2019-I am very behind. Hoping to get back to the books soon.

RobinJoy | 2 comments Good Morning – my name is RobinJoy and I live in the sunny state of California. I’m just now getting started on this challenge because my sister mentioned working on the challenger and it sounded interesting. I’m not sure how well I’ll do, but it will be good motivation to have a group that posts about it.

My favorite genre is definitely dystopia although many of them cross over into fantasy.

I don’t really look at authors, but rather books/series. My favorite series is a toss up between Hunger Game series, Divergent series, The Selection series, and Under the Never Sky.

I read probably 15-20 books last year that didn’t involve reading to my stepson at bedtime. I’m hoping to get more reading done this year, but we’ll see. I look forward to getting to know all of you and hearing about all of your suggestions. I’ve read the first book in the Girl Who Dared series, but the other books were not out yet. It looks like I need to go back and read the entire series now.
