NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11071 comments I just found an old TBR list in my computer from before I joined Goodreads. A few of them fell off my radar, some I've read, and some are on my TRIM list. Opinions? I'm still searching for more old lists of books I've already read to add to my GR list.

*= I read these/approx rating
T= on my Trim list

Read and liked:
* 5 A Man Called Ove
* 5 The Nightingale
* 4 All the Light We Cannot See
* 5 Interpreter of Maladies
* 5 The Language of Flowers
*5 What Alice Forgot
*4-5 The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry
* 4 Big Little Lies

Haven't read:
Defending Jacob
My Notorious Life: A Novel by Kate Manning
The Snow Child
My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry
Major Pettigrew's Last Stand
The Rosie Project
The Little Paris Bookshop
The Graveyard Book or
American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Trim the TBR list:
T- The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry
T - The Marriage of Opposites
T - Circling the Sun
T - The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

annapi | 5505 comments I heartily recommend My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry, The Rosie Project, The Snow Child, and The Graveyard Book.

A lot of American Gods went over my head, but I read it years ago, don't remember if I finished it, and I've forgotten most of it. I just don't get most of Gaiman's stuff, he's hit or miss for me, but if he's your style, go for it. I must say I am enjoying the TV series of American Gods.

The rest I haven't yet read.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've only read one of his book, and I'm not sure he's for me yet. I picked up a copy of The Rosie Project but I'm not sure I'll get to it before it's due.

I'm seeing some common opinions here. That helps a lot. Thanks!

Amy | 12921 comments I’m with Anna. Snow child and grandmother sorry were both five stars for me. Like the Rosie project too. Not necessarily a Gaiman fan. But you have a great list!

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12570 comments I have read Defending Jacob
All the Light We Cannot See And enjoyed them both

KateNZ | 4100 comments Put them all on - what the heck 😁

Loved Major Pettigrew and the Rosie Project and I’m always happy to pick up a Backman or Gaiman book.

Theresa | 15525 comments Well I also have Major Pettigrew and All the Light We Cannot See in my TBR, and since I own print copies, they will get read at some point.

Little Paris Bookshop too - and it's on my Trim TBR list I believe. I'm such a sucker for those kinds of books, it will absolutely be read and several friends keep recommending it to me. It's inevitable.

Yes, My Grandmother is still my all time favourite Backman read and I've read EVERYTHING he has out in English, or at least the last time I checked a few months ago.

Amy | 12921 comments Karin and I had that in common! A total love for Bachman’s Grandmother.

Charlie Ravioli (charlie_ravioli) | 611 comments Defending Jacob and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand are my two favorites from your not yet read list.

I really enjoyed The Snow Child (Thank you, Amy, for that one)
And I have My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry on my list to read as well. I just love his books. Oh, and the Marriage of Opposites! Alice Hoffman is so great.

message 16: by Ellen (new)

Ellen | 3511 comments I can definitely recommend "Defending Jacob", "The Snow Child" and "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry". I thought "The Rosie Project" was ok and I didn't really care for "The Little Paris Bookshop".

Tessa (FutureAuthor23) | 229 comments I loved The Snow Child as well. Gave it 4 1/2 stars. Defending Jacob is on one of my old lists too but I still haven't gotten to it.

Why didn't you like Circling the Sun? I had mixed feelings about Paris Wife (by the same author), so I've avoided her books for awhile. It might have also just been because Hemingway sounded like a total blowhard. Circling the Sun sounded more appealing so I decided to give it a chance. If it's number comes up I'll read it.

Amy | 12921 comments I absolutely loved Circling the Sun!

Holly R W | 3112 comments I see that The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is on your list, Nancy. I was not able to click with the book, but loved its companion story by the same author (Rachel Joyce). "The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy" is on my favorites for 2018 list. It was beautifully written.
