Sloane stepped out of the hotel and was instantly surrounded by warm beachy air. She had on shades and a loose white sundress over a red bikini with some designer sandals. Her morning was spent shadowing one of the daycare workers, it was all fun and games until they made Sloane change a diaper. It wouldn't have been that bad if they'd taught her how to do it without getting peed on. After that whole fiasco, she decided it was time for a well-deserved break, so she took a long shower and made her way down to the pool.

Sloane walked around the pool to the nice lounge area, finding a nice bed she set her towel and stuff down. Her next quest was to find a drink. Hopefully one strong enough to get the daycare disaster off her mind. Sloane made a bit of a show out of removing her sundress to reveal her bikini. She made eye contact with one of the men who fell for her trick and winked at him before turning toward the bar.

Sloane practically strutted to the bar, and as she approached it she smiled at one of the cute bartenders. "Love, would you mind making me a drink? Surprise me and make it strong," she whispered the last part making the bartender lean toward her. She was glad to be having some time to unwind, and the excitement made her a bit flirty. The bartender handed her a nice teal drink that smelt like sunscreen almost, but in the best way. She pulled a cherry from the drink and pulled it from the stem slowly with her lips.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson smirked from where he was standing. He had at least a few metres from the pool. Oh yes, he was definitely going to create chaos today. He was shirtless, wearing his floral swim shorts low to show off his ‘v’ and the trained abs he worked six hours a day for. He knew he looked good, he could tell from the drool that some girls tripped on. Without any warnings, he ran, a streamline journey to the water. And with a yell of joy, he canonballed in. It was enough spray to hit the ones on their poolside beds. He emerged and gave a shake of his head to wipe the hair off his face. Lawson barely glanced around to note the damage he created.

He took a towel from a passing towel boy. The action, a bit brusk, caused the other towels he was holding to fall on the newly wet ground. Lawson glanced behind him, and gave a pointed look. “Ought to be careful with those. They’re exported from Egypt” he muttered before taking the sunglass from his ‘butler’ who was by his side in an instant. Lawson put the glasses on, the view turning into an opaque dark. He jerked his head to some girls who had bikinis slightly too small for their body. The fabric was barely there. He would’ve gone over there, had it not been for the flash of red he caught. His cocky smirk returned. Lawson waved his hand for his security to leave him be. He wouldn’t need it.

The water dripped from his body as he leaned on the bar, slightly spoiling the expensive wood that it was made out of. Keeping his body flexed as he did so. “And am I to assume that a girl like you is alone in a place like this?” He drawled, pulling his glasses down to the tip of his nose. Lawson’s eyes darted from her face downwards than creeped slowly back up. He extended his hand to the bartender. Lawson didn’t need to say what he wanted, it was already known, and drilled into the workers’ brain. He took a sip of his drink, a sweet pink lemonade with a touch of vodka. He licked his lips to savour the sweetness.

Sloane noticed Lawson quickly. She knew him because of their families' businesses. They went to the same parties most of their lives. Sloane actually had a pretty big crush on him when they were in high school, I mean could you blame her? He had the genetics of a god. She realized though, that they didn't exactly have compatible ways of life. Sure they were both heirs to huge hotels, well at least Sloane was, but they had very different approaches to people.

As the bartender made Sloane’s drink she turned her attention to watch Lawson’s cannonball then how he treated the towel boy. She then snapped her attention back to the bartender before Lawson noticed her. He still noticed her though. She could feel him there before he even came to lean against the bar next to her. She tried to ignore his presence but he was hard to ignore. She could see the water droplets rolling down his chest out of the corner of her eye. She had never been as pissed about her inability to ignore hot guys as she was now.

Sloane kept her eyes forward if she couldn’t actually ignore him she could at least fake disinterest. “Yes I am alone actually, and it appears that you are too” She meant it to sound like an insult, that he didn’t have girls falling over themselves to get attention from him, she knew there were women who did though, and her ‘inslut’ sounded more like flirting. “And maybe we should keep it that way, ya know, me being alone,” she added to clarify that she wasn’t interested. She took her sunglasses off and tried to glare at him, but she ended up sneaking a glance at his body.

Lawson’s interaction with the bartender appalled Sloane. “You do know he’s a human being that deserves as much respect as you, you could at least give him the decency of actually asking? Maybe even add in a ‘Please’ if you’re feeling less demonic” She actually got a glare in this time. She kept her glare up as he sipped his drink, but when he licked his lip she had to look away to stifle her unwanted attraction.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson ran a hand through his wet hair, the model pout he made with his lips coming naturally as he strolled to the bar. He knew what he was worth, and sold it effortlessly. He did have various model campaigns on the side, not to mention runways. But the appeal of having to go on diets, to work out more and just walk for a few minutes didn’t drawn Lawson. He was much more interested to do it on a daily basis, on the streets, a restaurant, anywhere. Lawson would sell.

As he noticed the girl in the red bikini was Sloane, the corners of his lips tugged higher. She was a common sight in high school. He wouldn’t admit to her ever but he always enjoy when she passed by. Not carrying that dramatic ambiance that others girls did. And not to mention her glares. They were iconic. So when he finally did reach her, he played it cool. As if this was the first time they’d met, just to see her reaction.

Lawson tilted his head to the side to try catch her gaze, it looked playful the way he did it. When he did manage to meet her eyes, he locked his eyes into hers. And smiled, sparking recognition. “Sloane. Aren’t you a lovely vision in red” He murmured. When she mentioned that she would’ve preferred to be alone, he tsked. “Yeah, I don’t think so, Hyatt” he teased. Lawson rested his elbows on the bar while this body was positioned to the pool. “Besides, you’re totally eyeing me” he commented, pushing his sunglasses back up in a snobbish way.

Then he heard Sloane’s tittering about how Lawson should act, he couldn’t help but clinch his glass tighter. He hated when he was told what to do. He groaned, jerking his head back as he did. “He works for me, and he doesn’t seem to be complaining” he retorted. Lawson waved his glass to the bartender. “Are you offended?” He asked to him. The bartender’s eyes widened at the sound of the Cebria child’s voice, and shook his head violently in a ‘no’. Lawson looked at Sloane with a triumphant grin then went back to his drink. “I’m not feeling angelic today, dear…no, I’m feeling extremely demonic” he leaned a bit closer to her.

“So! How have you been?” He exclaimed, changing the subject in a loud declaration. That was Lawson, always avoiding things that involved etiquette.

Sloane watched him do his model moves trying her hardest to not find it attractive. She tried to find some kind of flaw or even just something that was just average, but she failed. Her frustration grew in her, he was so hot but so terrible. She hated herself for finding him attractive and hated him even more for making it so hard to not find him attractive. She looked away and angrily sipped her drink through the straw. The drink was strong, but not nearly strong enough for this encounter.

Sloane frowned when she realized he recognized her. To be honest, she would have been mad either way, if he didn’t recognize her he would be a jerk and him recognizing her also made her think he was a jerk. So kind of a lose-lose for him. “Look all you want Lawson cause that’s all you’ll ever get,” she said before taking a long sip from her glass, not breaking eye contact with him. Her stare down with him intensified to a glare when he refused to leave her alone, but when he called her out for eyeing him she finally had to look away. She wasn’t sure if she was blushing or just so mad that her blood was boiling. “You uh- you wish… Cebria” she stumbled over her denial knowing it was a complete lie.

Sloane noticed Lawson’s death grip on his drink after she corrected his manners. “What’s the matter? Was it something I said Law? Oh, I'm sowwy” she pouted with faux sympathy. Her feeling of triumph faded when Lawson intimidated to bartender into compliance. She frowned and mouthed ‘I’m sorry’ to the bartender before turning back to the conversation. “You’re always demonic, I don’t know why I continually give you the chance to disappoint me.” she didn’t glare this time, she just looked sad, but she pulled herself together to whisper in his ear. “It’s a shame, arrogance is just so unattractive” she purposefully whispered seductively, in an effort to get to him and piss him off just as much as he did her.

His changing to subject irritated her more than it should have, a little irritation came from him being him, but most came from a subconscious fear that he heard about her families misfortune, he was the last person she wanted to know about them losing their hotels. The news hadn’t broken publicly yet, but word of mouth is a powerful thing. “I’ve been great, well that was until I saw you here.” her words dripped with sarcasm “How have you been?”

Sloane gulped her drink down quickly before setting it down on the bar with a thump. “Can I get another one, please? Oh and a few shots too if he’s staying” she gestured to Lawson not looking at him, “I’m too sober to deal with him” she said locking eyes with him. She should just stand up and walk away but she was kind of enjoying their back and forth, not that she’d admit that, not even to herself.

message 7: by Iggy (new)

Iggy (iggysanchez7) “Hm, something in the stars tells me that is a lie” he sang with a playful grin on his lips. Lawson loved to annoy people, and Sloane was no exception. She had a family name that immediately put her family and herself in almost all the parties his father organised. In a way, Lawson had seen the transformation from puberty to high school. But the blank years from then to now, Sloane had definitely changed. And he wasn’t complaining. He took a good gulp of his own drink before setting it down on the table. He chuckled at her stammered retort. This will be more fun than I thought. He casually turned his head to her, and smirked. “Sorry what was that? Couldn’t hear you over the sound of your drool” he jested.

When he heard the mocking in Sloane’s voice, Lawson took off his sunglasses once more, and placed them carefully on the table beside his drink. They weren’t his most expensive pair so he wasn’t worried if they got wet or spoiled by action. They were just Ray Bans. He sighed. “Are you just trying to get me to punish me?” He whispered in a sultry fashion. “Unattractive? Huh, well my arrogance is getting you all red” he motioned to her bikini. “More red than that” he smiled slowly. If Sloane was trying to piss him off, Lawson wouldn’t fall for it. He may be spoiled, rude, arrogant but he was never weak. No, he much rather play with those accusations and throw them back to the person. See how they reacted under the pressure. Obviously it didn’t score him much friends, or even admirers. He wasn’t the well like Cebria of the family. Most possibly, the one that would get a bad inheritance. But a few million and maybe a house by the beach, wasn’t really all that bad. Except if you were Lawson.

“Bored out of my mind” He finally said. Lawson didn’t read the news much. He knew gossip that was an understatement. He created at times the gossip. Yet the news of Sloane’s family hadn’t reached his trained ear, not just yet. “Everyday it’s the same people, no one to actually annoy” he muttered as his hand closed around his drink once more.

Lawson watched in bewilderment by Sloane’s order but clapped slowly to show his admiration. “Are you sure you want to be drunk around me?” He warned, holding her eyes in his gaze. Lawson tapped twice on the bar table and a few more drinks of his choice were there. Never once breaking contact with Sloane. But one thing he did add, just to see what she’d do, was say a small “Thank you”.

Sloane’s heart dropped and butterflies fluttered in her stomach at his comment. There is no way anything would happen between them right? She was smarter than that and he was too much of a jerk. He’d always been handsome, but that's all he had going for him in her eyes. He would need to prove he had a human side to him before she’d ever fall for that. Sloane frowned “Oh did you say something I couldn’t hear you over your raging ego?” she then dramatically dabbed at to corners of her lips, making a show out of it. “Oh look. No drool.” she shrugged with a fake pout. “Too bad Cebria, There’s always at least one girl out there you can’t charm the pants off of.” She winked at him just to try and drive him crazy.

Sloane quickly regretted whispering because it backfired, when Lawson did it she shivered. His breath on her neck, that was a weakness of hers. She was speechless for a moment, his actions had made her unable to think, she could barely even remember to keep up her anger. “Uh no” she meant it to come out loud and confidently, but she just barely squeaked it out. “I mean I’m not blushing, there is no way. I’m just angry” She pushed her stool back in an effort to put space between them. Him gesturing to her bikini suddenly made her wish she was more covered. She crossed her arms to shield her body from him a little more. His gaze felt too hot on her skin. She ignored his comment. She should know better than to get in a word battle with Lawson, he would always win. “You’re an ass Lawson Cebria” Sloane huffed.

Sloane was shocked by his response, she expected him to gloat about how great his life was, or brag about his many conquests. “You’re bored? Why don’t you learn something? Or go somewhere? There’s a whole world outside of these islands.” she didn’t know why she was trying to help and quickly added a small dig at him “Only boring people get bored” she smirked, it was an annoying phrase her parents always told her growing up. “Oh, so I’m here as someone new to annoy? Is that it? I’m not your plaything Lawson. No one is here to be your toy.” Sloane leaned toward him a little like she was telling an important secret.

The bartender poured the shots first and set a few in front of her with lime and salt. She took two immediately making a puckered face at the taste. “It’s the only way to have a tolerable interaction with you” She gave him a sarcastic smile before reaching for the last shot. As she was taking it she realized what he had meant with that comment and almost spit her drink out, by some miracle she didn’t, but that shot went down with an extra burning sensation. “Being drunk isn’t gonna change my mind about how repulsive you are,” she said confidently, but inside, she wasn’t so sure.

Sloane held his gaze, trying to hide the fear that the alcohol would make her do or say something stupid. She could feel the alcohol swimming in her stomach making her a bit tipsy already. Her thoughts were running wild, then Lawson thanked the bartender. She was shocked. “Did I just imagine you actually being polite?” she said bewildered before pinching herself dramatically.

Sloane had decided she couldn’t do something stupid if she avoided Lawson. She slapped down the money for her drinks, picked up the new pink drink the bartender made her and tried to escape Lawson by just walking away. She made her way over to her daybed. She didn’t look behind her to see if Lawson followed, she was sure he wouldn’t give up pestering her. She set her drink on a small table next to the bed and laid out to get some tanning in.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson titled his head back and laughed. It was a loud belly laugh. He couldn’t help himself. The way Sloane retorted to his fire, it was refreshing. Yet it started to get painfully annoying that all his shoots were being missed. With begged him to wonder whether any hit their target. When he got back his breath, he smiled at her. “Oh we’ll see. We’ve only just seen each other after all these years. You don’t know what trick I’ve got hidden” he winked. And oh boy, did Lawson have moves tucked away for later. He was only feeling the water with her, and since she didn’t feel under pressure by what he’d done now. Next time the fire would be turned up a bit higher.

But his smile was transformed to the cocky grin he always wore. He noticed the way her voice changed, squeaking and shifting in her seat. He was getting to her and that fuelled the arrogance in him. He shrugged when she called him an ass. “Tell me something I don’t know, gorgeous” he said.

“Me? Learn? I barely passed high school, what makes you think I would learn something new?” He lied. In truth, Lawson had great high school results, solid marks to get into whatever university he wanted. And yet, he chose a university notorious for its nightlife. This year to suspend his studies wasn’t taken because he was struggling. He was just bored. The classes were too easy, the teachers too mediocre. Lawson didn’t have time to sit around a regurgitate what the teacher said. “You declared yourself as my plaything. I just said no one to annoy. Ergo, you played yourself” he said casually, starting his second drink with a look of satisfaction.

Out of the corner of his eye, he watched her head tilted back at the shots she downed. But said nothing, should she continue like that he only wondered whether she would walk straight after taking another pink drink back to her daybed. He didn’t say anything about him being polite. Lawson just stared forward to the row of alcoholic bottles. “Hmmm?” He said as he was being awaken from a snooze. When he turned to her once more she started to make her way back. He nodded once to the bartender then made his way to her. Flopping down to the chair next to her. “That’s it? You’re going to leave me at a rhetorical question?” He gasped. “How dramatic of you” he muttered, putting his sunglasses above his head, creating a makeshift headband.

Sloane was alarmed by Lawson laughing. She wasn’t sure what would make him laugh like that and it kind of scared her. She couldn’t ever tell what he was thinking, and that unpredictableness made her uncomfortable. It was like she was out of control in the situation. She’d been insulting him and he laughed? That wasn’t the outcome she was going for. Her lack of control was confirmed by his statement. She had no idea what tricks he’d added to his collection since she last saw him. He was a player in high school, but college is a new game he could have learned from, and she wasn’t sure she’d win the game they were playing now. “I guess we will see. I’ll warn you though, I can’t imagine tricks winning me over. I prefer genuine emotional attraction. Emotions and genuine behavior are two things you lack greatly if I remember correctly.” Her statement was true, she did prefer genuine guys, but that didn’t mean she cut out hookups completely.

His cocky grin returned to his face making Sloane want to punch him even more than she already did. She didn’t think that was possible. Her frustration was getting more and more difficult to hide. The war in her head over her finding him repulsive or irresistible raged on more violent than ever. “Oh I’m sure I could tell you a lot that you don’t know, Like how to properly treat women, or do honest work.” She looked him up and down. A sick feeling grew in her stomach, disgust and lust mixing.

“Whatever Lawson, you’re clearly smart enough to trick women into finding you charming or finding ways to annoy people beyond their wildest dreams. I know you’re not as dumb as you pretend to be” She rolled her eyes at him “And even if you were, there would be plenty of unused brain cells to store information in.” She leaned forward and tapped his temple as if making sure there was actually a brain in there “Yep I was right, surprisingly there isn’t just hot air in there, there’s an actual human brain. Alert the press” She fought the urge to laugh, then realized how close to him she was and sat back in the chair so fast it almost fell over with her in it.

Sloane frowned “No, I was saying I’m not, I didn’t declare I was. I was simply stating a fact. Doesn’t matter that it wasn’t what you were saying I refuse to be your plaything. I did NOT play myself” She scrambled out trying to make sure he didn’t get any ideas about turning up the heat.

For a moment Sloane actually started to believe he wouldn't follow her. Then he spoke and destroyed that little fantasy. “Yes I was, Keywords being ‘Leave you.’ Yet here you are, not left at the bar.” She frowned, not opening her eyes to look at him. “Dramatic? Well I learned from the best didn't I?” she rolled over so her back was getting sun, then opened one eye to find her drink. She took a sip then placed it back in its spot and closed her eyes again. “Don’t you have girls to chase or something?” she asked trying to unwind after their banter.

message 11: by Iggy (new)

Iggy (iggysanchez7) He jerked his head up confidently, with a hand placed under his chin in thought. He smiled with added charm. “We’ll see” he agreed. So, Sloane did, in a way, accept his advances. In his calculated, unused part of Lawson’s mind, he noted that she might want to see him again. It was strange though. He never been held down by a challenge. It was either catch them first time then leave the next day. Lawson wasn’t about long term courting. If that was the way to put it. So it implored the question of why now? With Sloane? Perhaps it was thought of proving her wrong, or maybe that he was just plainly bored in this resort. The girls here he’d either broken their hearts or just ignored. All the while, he didn’t hear what Sloane preferred about guys. Once again, Lawson was caught up in the world of Lawson. Him, and himself. But he did hear the end of her phrase, were she mentioned what he lacked. Lawson rolled his eyes. “Ugh, spare me with the romcoms you’ve been watching” he smirked. “And you didn’t get to know me in high school, Sloane” he added. “You were just like the rest…judging from the outside” Lawson had been partners in some group works with Sloane, but never had they been together out of their own will. She did come to a few parties his parents’ hosted. And did see her mingle with some of his ‘siblings’. Or family wreckers, as Lawson would put it. He didn’t mean to sound harsh when he spoke to Sloane, it just came out bitter. In high school there was talk about his father’s remarriage, the new siblings, and Lawson’s attitude varied from passive retorts to outright violence. All to protect him and his older siblings.

Lawson was cut back from those times, back to see Sloane just watching him. “Sloane, Sloane, Sloane” he tittered, bopping her nose. He leaned in as she did, close as possible to her ear. “If you see how I treat women, you’d definitely be surprised on how much I know” he laughed softly, letting his prescene linger for a while before nipping her ear playfully. When he moved away, it was laughter Lawson fought to control.

When she talked about what was in his head, he tried to look unfazed, but the way she leaned in and argued. Argued that he wasn’t dumb? Lawson scoffed a smile. It was genuine, but it still looked like the typical grin he would wear. Only in his eyes could someone tell that he was surprised by their banter. Sloane tripped over the chair, and Lawson spared no effort to help her. Steading her chair and having a hand on her elbow. “Huh, sure those tricks are winning you over?” He asked amused by her near fall. He chuckled as she continued. “Sure, you didn’t” he drawled.

“I don’t recall you explicitly saying that” he murmured, watching the surroundings of the pool. “Who? My sister?” He asked innocently, turning his head to her as he batted his eyelashes for effect. “I do” he agreed giving a group of girls, who looked ready to faint, a wave and nod. Lawson could already hear the giggles. “But the day is still young” he sighed, putting his arms over his head and wiggling in his seat. Giving Sloane a hint that he wasn’t going to move anytime soon.

Sloane almost wanted to laugh at Lawson’s relentless behavior, but it seemed wrong too. He seemed like a kid working excitedly toward a goal, like when parents say they’ll take their kid on a trip if they get an A on a test. Lawson seemed to have the same determination. She could tell he was confident in believing he’d charm her over. She tried to hide a small smile. “Yeah, we’ll see” she repeated. It was a challenge to her too. Could she resist? She wasn’t sure but she was excited to find out. She was pretty sure he’d move on to a new target in the next day or two, but it was thrilling to be his target got even just a day. Lawson wasn’t someone she would expect to put in the effort or be held down by one girl who would take time to get. Sloane wasn’t special in her mind, so it should be no different.

His romcom comment had Sloane ready to respond but she opened her mouth to say something just to be stopped by his next statement. It surprised her. He was right, she didn’t really know him well enough to say what was going on inside. Her mouth hung open unable to come up with any reasonable retort. She thought for a moment, letting all their interactions run through her head. “I’m sorry Lawson,” she said genuinly “You’re right, I had no right to judge you the way I did in high school. I was young and I listened to my friends too much” she reached out to touch his arm reassuringly “And I guess I still haven’t given you a chance to prove to me that you aren’t the guy I’ve always thought you were.”

Her face quickly melted back to a frown as he repeated her name almost mocking her. She blinked in surprise when he bopped her nose. Then he got so close she could feel his words tickle her neck making her shiver and squirm. She almost didn’t catch what he said, it took her a little too long to process the meaning of his words. But after a moment she did understand and she wished she didn't, she was disgusted by the statement. She pushed him away, but he still got a light nip on her ear before she got him away. She grabbed her ear with one hand and used the other to cover the goosebumps forming on her arms. “You’re disgusting! I meant emotionally Lawson!” she hissed

Sloane saw the look in his eyes before scrambling backward. It was an odd expression, she’d never seen something like that from his and couldn’t place it. Something about it scared her. She couldn’t tell why, maybe that it seemed too intense between them in that moment. That’s what caused her to need to be farther away. But when she tried to escape that’s when she almost fell. Unluckily, Lawson saved her from the fall. She would have rather he just let her fall to the ground than have him cause her stomach to flip like it did when he was that close. She didn’t push his hand away, she just kinda stared at him for a moment, trying to uncover what he was thinking. “No way Lawson,” her words were soft and lacked the bite they should have had to them, “Maybe I’m winning you over.”

“I didn’t think I’d have to say it. I just figured you wouldn’t care enough to chase me” She said plainly. She wasn’t sure why he was chasing her, it was a genuine mystery to her. Lawson Cebria, chasing her? She was a failed heiress, not that he knew that yet, but still, she wasn’t really the kind of girl guys fought to win over, unless they were significantly below her level, which Lawson wasn’t. If anything Lawson was above her level. “No, I learned from watching you.” She said calmly, then realized what she said and her eyes snapped open. “I mean not like I pay attention- Ok maybe I had a crush on you at some point a long time ago and I paid attention a little, but not in a stalker way- And besides it was a LONG long time ago,” She said quickly, only digging her hole deeper. Maybe she had drunk a little too much. That wasn’t something she’d say with a clear mind. She grabbed her drink and took a long sip trying to dull the embarrassment” Sloane frowned the slightest bit when he admitted to having other girls to chase. The frown was so small you would have to be watching closely to catch it. She noticed the group of girls and wondered which one he’d pick tonight, maybe he wouldn’t have to pick. Sloane then noticed him getting comfortable in his spot next to her and let a small smirk form.

message 13: by Iggy (new)

Iggy (iggysanchez7) When Lawson began hearing the dreaded phrase ‘I’m sorry’, he waved his hand as if to dissolve the situation. He didn’t need an apology, or even want to hear any reason for why she might’ve thought those things about him. He knew he wasn’t a saint. It was a character he created himself, or rather the environment he was born in. His father wasn’t exactly the role model boys would look to for advice on social behaviour. The times he’d see him would be in parties or events where the old man would’ve had ladies to parade and too much alcohol. The scent filling his small nose when he passed by. Lawson didn’t blame Sloane for thinking that way. But the small flutter in his heart reminded him that he wasn’t all stone and cocky. He did feel the warmth in her voice and when she touched his arm. It snapped him back. He smirked. “Watch the merchandise” he said automatically. That unnecessary barrier of snobbiness rising again.

He didn’t laugh when she pushed him away, only the casual laid back grin that was filled with mischief. “Oh, I guess we need to start communicating” he teased. Acting like they were actually together as a couple. “See! I can get emotional” he crossed his hands together and pulled his face into thought. “So, tell me about what you’re feeling, Sloane? Repulsed? Or very allured?” He raised his eyebrow suggestively.

Lawson managed easily pull the chair from leaning tower of death back to all fours. The strain of his muscles showed as he used his strength to secure both the chair and Sloane from falling over. He gave the bartender a glare. “Grab steadier chairs, will you? It’s a bar. People will get injured” he snapped. “Are you trying to make us lose money?” He said, hotly. The idea of someone getting hurt, of Sloane falling over…Lawson, in his mind tried to convince himself that it was for the family’s financial interest. He turned his attention back to Sloane. “Maybe” he murmured as he took a swing of his drink. Downing it all.

Lawson would argue he was stalking her, more than chasing her. But tomato, tomato. Yes, he wasn’t going to let her go. For once he wanted to see what Sloane had got up to these past few years. Wondered how she was actually doing. Lawson wasn’t interested in the pettiness of other girls. He could surely forget the idea of him getting soft, caring after he grabbed a drink and a dance with one of the girls he waved. He could shut it off. He tilted his head, suddenly interested in what Sloane meant of her watching him. “So you’re chasing me?” He turned the question to her. He shifted his body to give his full attention to her. His arm that was behind his head propped up, putting his head higher to look at her face. “Crush?” He said slowly. He shrugged. “Who didn’t have a crush on me?” He chuckled. But when she drank from her drink. He tsked, reaching to grab Sloane’s drink. “I think we’re going to put an alcohol limit on you, Hyatt” he smirked.

Sloane rolled her eyes at his comment “Typical Lawson,” she laughed at his reaction “I’m onto you.” she winked at him. He seemed to be legitimately hurt when he spoke about high school, and now she knew there were emotions hidden in his heart that she thought didn’t exist. She nudged him lightly with the hand she had been using to reassure him. They had a real moment pass between them, almost like they were already friends. She could see that he reverted back to his cocky behavior to avoid it. There was no fooling her there.

Sloane raised an eyebrow at his behavior but listened to him with amusement. “Aw how cute, you think that’s what women want?” she cooed “We’re a little more complicated than that.” She winked playfully before adding “We like the right kind of danger too” she bit her lip lightly staring into his eyes, a fire burning behind hers. She through her personal space out the window and stood up. She moved closer to him until her lips were only a couple inches from his at most, still looking in his eyes. “We also like to play games just as much as you do.” She breathed slow light breaths, lingering for a moment before sitting back in her seat, dropping the act instantly “But most of all we like guys who can be real, vulnerable, guys who can give us danger and comfort.” she smirked, mirroring his cockiness “Or at least I do. All girls are different.” She didn’t answer his question, because #1 it wasn’t his business, and #2, she wasn’t sure yet.

Sloane’s eyes wandered over Lawson’s flexed muscles as he lectured the bartender. “Um it’s not his fault,” she said distractedly “I just- I had a bit too much too fast that's all” she pulled her focus away from Lawson’s muscles and looked to the bartender apologetically. She felt like the times he got yelled at were all her fault and she felt terrible for that. But she wasn’t too focused on that right now.

Sloane tensed, just barely hearing Lawson’s one-word response to her question. That one word was not what she expected. She was expecting some kind of insulting quip refusing, but he hadn’t. He didn’t even seem to be joking. She searched his face for any trace of amusement to convince her she’d misread the response. She didn’t know how to respond, so she didn’t. That’s when she stood and fled to her daybed.

Sloane didn’t understand Lawson at all. This conversation was only adding layers of confusion on top of each other. She had so many questions but knew if she asked any, she would only get more confused by his answers. “I’m not chasing you Cebria, I’m running away from you” She admitted leaving out her reason for running from him. “Exactly, I was just a typical teenager, following trends. That trend just happened to be you.” She tried to convince herself just as much as him. When he took her drink from her, she frowned, that was her crutch. She knew it was probably for the best because she was already feeling her thoughts starting to swim and her muscles loosening. “Hey, that’s not cool,” she said squinting at him in an attempted glare. Ok, so maybe the drinks had hit her pretty hard. “What if I get thirsty Lawson? I think I should get my drink back.” she slurred a little, extending her arm to grab it.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson was intrigued by Sloane. And when she closed the distance between them, he could’ve, should’ve swept her off her feet. Yet he was frozen with the amused grin plastered on his face. “Easy tiger, you don’t know fire burns” he murmured. He spotted the flames in her eyes. He knew he wore that often too. But also how dangerous it could get. She was a great actress, he’d give her that.

So when she had moved away. It gave him just enough time to regain his footing. She was catching on fast to his ways, and if he gave too much away, she could easily step over him. The selfish side of Lawson was concerned about his image. What would the press say? Lawson Cebria conquered by heiress? He couldn’t let that happen. He had a brand. Not one someone should be proud of, but it was his.

Sat on the daybed, Lawson tapped his foot to the blasting overused remixes that were being played by the poolside. The season of celebrities planning their getaway had begun and the Cebria’s had everything planned to ensure the Golden Suites was as trendy as possible. Rumour was that his father wanted to be more ‘for the people’, opening the resort to normal people. The thought made Lawson uncomfortable. The Golden Suites was exclusive, and having anyone around could be a danger to those who were trying to enjoy themselves, to disconnect from the fame and press.

“But you’re doing a terrible job…of running away, I mean” he clarified. “Ah, I’m a trend now” he laughed. “Though I can’t remember ever going out of style” he drawled, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion. He took the drink from her, not listening to her complaints that followed afterwards. He shook his head. “Cool or not, you have had enough” he said, finishing her drink so she didn’t have the chance to take it from him and continue her path to being drunk. Luckily for him, he wasn’t easily affected by liquor. But at the same time, he hadn’t had shots a few moments ago. “Then you get water” Lawson made a motion with his hand and his security was by his side. “A water bottle…two” he instructed to him. He sat on his daybed, putting his sunglasses up to avoid getting a bad tan on his face. “Damn, Sloane, if you wanted to get shitfaced might as well done it later. I’m not impatient” he added with a wink.

Sloane gave Lawson a goofy grin. She was genuinely a very quirky girl despite being an heiress who was meant to act all put together or snooty. Acting quirky in front of Lawson wasn’t something she’d do with a sober mind but the 3 shots and 1 and a half fruity drinks didn’t have her in her best mindset. “You’re right. I am doing a terrible job running away from you.” she admitted with a little giggle “But you love it don’t you” She winked and bopped him on the nose as he had done to her earlier.

“Nope. You never went out of style.” She took a moment to try saving her thoughts from the clutches of the tequila shots she’d taken earlier. “Especially not with magazines, I can’t go to an airport without seeing your face in some kind of ‘hottest men alive’ article.” She rolled her eyes “But maybe I outgrew the trend?” She added with a smirk before her face twisted into a mischievous ‘I know something you don't’ half-grin “But then again maybe I never did. I’m not saying” She mimed locking her lips.

Sloane furrowed her eyebrows and pouted “When did you become a party pooper?” She whined propping herself up on an elbow. As he finished her drink off she huffed “You owe me a drink now.” she raised an eyebrow in disbelief. “Why do you even care how much I drink? Like isn’t it your favorite pass time? Or a way for you to pick up women?” Her words slurred together more and when she finished she felt exhausted like she’d finished running a marathon. She huffed and laid back down.

Sloane smiled when he ordered her water. It sounded really good at the moment. “Yay water” She sat up criss-cross and grinned like a child waiting for the water. She watched as Lawson put his sunglasses on his head, she didn’t comment on it, but she found it kind of cute and smiled almost sweetly at him. “You know, I don’t really hate you.” She said it like it was the best compliment in the world “I don’t know why but I just kind of feel the need to-” She began, but when she saw the man bringing her water she trailed off. She grabbed the water and thanked the man before she began gulping down the water.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) The side of Lawson’s lips quirked up. The grin that Sloane gave him was infectious. “Keep your dirty secrets” he retorted with a wink of his own. But realising that it was mostly the alcohol controlling her behaviour, he couldn’t help but shake his head in disbelief at her new words. “I love any form of attention” he sighed, “But I guess you knew that from the tabloids” he said, leaning away from the bop that she did on his nose. The light touch he felt caused him to scrunch up his nose.

Lawson rolled his eyes impatiently at her whining. It was like listening to his siblings groan at him for taking so long in the bathroom, when they had six. “I am the party” he announced, “And when you started drinking those shots” Lawson replied, shifting the weight of his body again on the daybed. This time, he laid the bed flat so he could lie on it with his back to the sun. Perhaps another point of view could ease the growing concern for Sloane’s behaviour. “I don’t care, but if you want to make a scene in my family’s resort, not going to happen” he said, his words muffled by the daybed. “I like to pick up sober women as a matter of fact, that’s one thing that you haven’t read in those magazine” he smirked. Letting that piece of information was something reporters would kill for, who was the true Lawson Cebria? But it wasn’t just for ettiquite that Lawson didn’t pick up drunk girls. He just knew out of experience that once you take her home she would crash by the bed to sleep. No fun whatsoever. He pushed up to see Sloane, noting the way she was pulling her words together.

So when the security came once more, he sat up to see her drain the water. “Wow. You touched me” he said sarcastically, putting a hand over his heart. “Took you a decade for you to say that” he teased. When she finished the water, he handed her the other. Just in case she needed a top up. Lawson waved his security close, whispering for him to make sure there weren’t any hidden photographers close by. Sloane had an image to uphold too and Lawson as much as he’d love to make the front cover, preferred it didn’t involve his family’s resort on it.

Sloane brought a finger to her lips and winked signifying she’d keep it secret. “Dirty secrets are the most fun.” She smirked a bit before putting her shades over her eyes dramatically. “Yup. I have in fact learned a bit about that from the tabloids.” She nodded knowingly “But do you wanna know something they don't know?” She whispered loudly leaning in closely “The Hyatts aren’t the Hyatts anymore. We don’t own our hotels anymore.” She said realizing her mouth had gone dry. She frowned and flopped back down on her daybed “I’m gonna be regular, except without the brains to work.” She hadn’t even admitted it to herself yet, but her drunk self decided it was a good idea to tell someone she ordinarily despised.

“Oh makes sense” Sloane frowned as he blamed his concern on the hotel “I’m sorry if I’m causing a scene. I can go to my room and sleep it off?” She felt drunk tears begin to form behind her eyes but she held them back. She wasn’t that emotional but she had no control in that moment. Maybe it was because he’d forgotten to eat before going to the bar. She had intended on grabbing something, but when Lawson showed up she let herself get distracted by him. His comment about not going for drunk girls genuinely surprised Sloane, she’d always just assumed that was the kind of guy he was. She blinked at him unable to think of words for a long moment “Well… Good. Imma have to admit I didn’t expect that. Good on you for surprising me Cebria.” she gave him a big thumbs up and a grin of approval “Keep surprising me like that and maybe I’ll fall for you for real. Not like that time in high school but like-” She spaced out for a moment, feeling a bit tired “But like… What was I saying again?” She tried to say through a yawn.

Sloane smiled happily at Lawson, not registering the sarcasm in this state “Oh I’m glad, You’re welcome” She continued chugging her water listening to him speak “Yup I can be quite stubborn sometimes, but just cause I don't say something doesn’t mean I’m not thinking it” She added happily taking the second water from him. She didn’t drink from the second one yet, she just kinda looked at it for a second as Lawson spoke with the Security. She waited for them to finish then declared “I have to pee” She stood quickly on wobbly legs “Whoa. Ok, I’m good. BRB” She laughed before making her way to the girl's room. She finished and returned from the bathroom, patting Lawson on the head as she passed him to get to her chair. Her eyes lingering closed a tiny bit too long each time she blinked revealing her drunken drowsiness. “So. How’s life?” She smiled lazily curling up on her daybed like a kitten would. The sun warming her skin as if she was buried under a pile of blankets next to a cozy fire in the middle of a snowstorm.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson quirked an eyebrow when she mentioned something he wouldn’t know about. Lawson Cebria, Prince of Tabloids. Curiosity taking control for a moment, he leaned in, meeting her halfway, his back hunched to prevent anyone else from listening in. Though when she spoke louder than a normal whisper, he leaned back slightly. His eyes widened at her confession. “What happened to your hotels?” When Sloane eased herself back to her seat, he stayed there for a while. His mind pondering on what the Hyatts might have done to lose such money. “Regular?” He scoffed. “Wow poor little heiress” he rolled his eyes. Lawson, out of anyone, would be worse off if his family lost their fortune. With no experience in work, lack of independence (some voluntary), he would abuse youtube and the tutorial videos online. Sloane? He thought she could manage way better than he would. “I wouldn’t mind seeing you work here” he teased, partly also meaning it.

He noticed her eyes getting wet, and he groaned. “Don’t cry, Hyatt.” He muttered, going from his daybed to sitting on hers. He grabbed a few napkins that were on the table between them, relieved that when his security got water he’d brought napkins too. Lawson handed them to her. “It’s a resort to have fun, not ball your eyes out” he smirked. “This isn’t a reality show” He wondered whether he should get her something to eat, to keep her mind off crying or worries about her financial situation. He laughed, shaking his head. “Right, don’t worry Hyatt, won’t hold this against you when you’re sober” he jested, though he would the next time they saw each other.

Lawson and his security shared a glance when Sloane left for the toilet. “Open the shade, don’t want her to get sun drunk too” he ordered to his security who quietly obeyed. Then Lawson waved him away, just to the background of the pool side. Still in view in case. “My life? Grand, nothing new” he said, keeping the conversation light. He tossed her a towel, noting that she. Might probably he interested in curling with that too. “How are you feeling? We can take you to your room if you need to rest. Or I can get someone to take you there if you don’t trust that I might take advantage of you” he grinned childishly. Lawson wouldn’t, but if she did consent, then he couldn’t refuse…right? No, he wouldn’t do such thing. She was drunk…

Sloane laughed hard enough to snort at his surprised expression. “That the reaction I was hoping for” She tried to get out through her laughing fit. She stretched as he spoke. “Welp, you see, we got pushed out. Like the stockholders ganged up and kicked us out.” She tried to smile but it was clearly not a genuine smile. “And it sucks, my parents are scrambling for a solution, some way to keep us from losing everything. But they cant. They told me to try to marry someone as a solution. That’s how little control they have” That last bit embarrassed her more than anything, and she would hate herself so much in the morning for bringing it up. Sloane glared at Lawson for him mocking her a little, she gave him a weak shove “Yes regular. And I’d like to see how you would handle being in my position!” She hissed at him her anger and hurt coming through her slurred words. “What would you hire me to do Lawson?” She asked curiously, challenging him to find something she’d actually be capable of doing. “I’m not good at anything so what?” She was desperate for him to actually convince her.

The words ‘don’t cry’ set off the tears, when people pointed out her being sad it always made it harder to hold in. “I can help it. It’s natural” She got out through sobs. When he sat next to her she leaned against him and put her head on his shoulder as she quietly cried, trying not to make a scene about it. She took the napkins and wiped her tears, trying not to let any fall on Lawson “I’m sorry I’m a mess.” she hiccupped trying to stop crying “maybe I should have a reality show” She laughed a bit wiping the last of her tears lightly. “What won’t you hold against me?” She tilted her head genuine confusion spread across her face. Sloane blinked slowly taking in Lawson’s face with her tired eyes, trying to find some clues as to what he was thinking.

Sloane nodded silently as Lawson answering her question. “That's good. I mean, I think? That’s good right?” She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. When he threw her the towel she smiled and wrapped herself in it curling up a bit more. “Ya know? I’m great!” she spoke with her eyes still closed “Maybe I can go to my room in a little bit.” She almost whispered nearly asleep. “I trust you” She waved her hand around in his general direction “But then again maybe that’s why it’s called taking advantage of drunk trusting people. BUT I’m not drunk” She slurred with so much drama “You can take me to my room if you want” She opened her eyes very slightly then attempted to wink before shutting them again.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson frowned when she mentioned the stockholders. He knew that with all the money in the world in the end it was pointless against those pesky creatures. He grumbled his agreement. “That does suck…” His ears perked up when she mentioned marriage. “Ah, so you’re trying to seduce me then?” He smirked, his cockiness striking up again. He wouldn’t get hitched, not until he was completely sure of it. Lawson saw how marriage affected his mother, and as a result didn’t think that marriage was something romantic, but more of a duty in life. And Lawson was completely against going with the duties in life. “How is that even a solution?” He said, shaking his head. “I mean, the best solution is to just keep going, their business can’t be all in ruins” The genius in Lawson began to speak. “I mean if you look at the stockholders recorders, do a bit of the maths and get your finances, you can’t be that in ruin…and not to mention desperate” he said the last part slightly.

Lawson shrugged, extending his hands in unsureness. “I don’t know. But I mean if your father is that worried about it, he should’ve just contacted mine…we’re not that heartless” he offered. “I don’t know you enough to give you a job!” He chuckled. “Maybe bar? No, you’d probably drink us dry” he teased. When she began to cry, he shook his head again. “Sloane, you’re good at things. I just can’t say what because I barely know you. But just from afar, I see confidence that can be used in anything” He shrugged again. “I just, don’t cry” he ran a hand through his hair, in utter confusion at what to do. “Listen, if you need a job, then I guess we can find one together. Put a list together. But you do the work obviously” he smiled softly. “Just, come on…Sloane you’re a Hyatt, the name is enough to stop a room. You have a strong name that is bound to help you get places”

He awkwardly placed a hand on her shoulder and brought her to his chest. Lawson did a quick glance around and was relieved that the security had moved other pool guests away. It was then and an elderly couple that were minding their own business. “You’re not a mess” he murmured. “You just are having a tough time getting your holiday legs” he jested lightly. “I’ll try to help if I can, Sloane” he added.

At her outburst, confusion knitted his brows again. But he quickly took that expression off, looking as joyful as he possibly could for Sloane. He extended his hand. “You are so drunk that I’m questioning whether I should get a wheelchair to take you to your room” he laughed. Lawson smirk appeared once more. “Oh, Sloane you’re mad…come on, I’ll take you to your room, you’ll have a great rest and carry on with your needed holiday” he said in a host-like manner.

Sloane looked at him with a sad smile “Sure does suck” she said quietly, focused on picking a bit of nail polish off her pinky. “Nope, I’m not trying to seduce you. I’m going to do this the right way. I’m trying to find a way to work for myself. I don’t want to rely on someone anymore.” She glanced up at his. She assumed he would find this silly, but he’d surprised her a few times already so she was just hoping he wouldn’t laugh at her. “I don’t even know if I ever want to get married, my parents can't just tell me to.” She added with a small laugh. “To them, it’s a way of getting stability for me, or maybe even get me off their financial burdens?” She shrugged also not seeing it as a solution. Sloane starred in awe as he explained a really good solution, her head swimming and hazy from the drinks, but she still understood that it was smart. “I knew you weren’t just a pretty face Cebria” She grinned at him.

“He didn’t even tell me until a month after. I had no idea, He has too much pride to contact your family.” She frowned “Look I appreciate your concern and all that, but they’ll figure it out, My family and I.” She touched his shoulder to reassure him “I’ll be fine, we were lucky to ever have that fortune, so now we’ll just have the same luck a majority of the world gets.” she gave him a half smile, a smile that showed how scared and hopeful she was. Sloane once again frowned, she was hoping he’d be able to think of something for her “Yeah I get it” She smiled when he joked with her a bit, it only lasted a moment because she let her mind wander back to the idea that there wouldn’t be anything she could do and her tear came back. She was touched by his words and the way he tried to comfort her. Once he finished speaking she put her arms around him and gave him the tightest, drunk hug possible. “I appreciate that, but you don’t have to do that for me. I can find a job on my own. I came here to celebrate the end of my heiress title, not guilt you into giving me a job. I’ll leave when the press about my family dies down and I’ll get a job who-knows-where” She shrugged not wanting to be a charity case.

Sloane appreciated him comforting her like he was. She really didn’t realize how much she needed it until this moment. As he held her she let herself grieve for the life she’d been living, she cried into his chest, softly shaking from the sobs. She wasn’t sure why he was being so nice to her but she was grateful. In the morning she’d have time to question it, but for now, she just let it all out. She wrapped her arms around him like he was the last solid thing she knew, and it was almost true, he was the only thing from her life that wasn’t going anywhere at the moment. “Thank you, Lawson,” Sloane said quietly into his chest as she started to calm down. Her voice was strained from all the crying and her eyes were a bit puffy, but she felt good after she let it out.

Sloane took his extended hand and pushed herself up “Maybe I am drunk but don’t tell” She giggled softly in a sleepy haze “I think that you don’t need a wheelchair” her grammar and slurred words made it impossible to miss how drunk she was. “That sounds nice, I-mmm Imma have a amazing holiday” She grinned, her eyes half open as she stumbled trying to get to her room. She nearly tripped into the pool, but didn’t and instead just decided to ignore the incident with a little “oops” and a giggle.

Iggy (iggysanchez7) Lawson nodded, glancing away from Sloane’s determined expression. In part, he felt jealous of her drive. Had he not been worried, spoiled, filthy rich, he could’ve done something greater than annoy and boss around the employees at Golden Suite. Maybe been gone into politics, a professor at a university, something. But, those were petty boy dreams. He wasn’t going to change, the personality he was born with was instilled like a scar in his head. Yet he listened to Sloane speak about her parents. How they also cared about Sloane’s wellbeing. He envied that too, being the third eldest in a whole line of siblings. Rarely any attention was spared to the eldest…the originals, as his sister and brother liked to tease about. He jerked back into attention when she grinned at him. “Psh, it’s common sense” he waved it off. “But keep going” he winked, with a smirk.

“Well, you could always make sure the press knows when you have a job…just borrow our security if you need to” He motioned to the outline of his security whose back was turned to them. “You can resources with the Cebira” he said.

Lawson instinctively tensed when she hugged him, his hand was still on her shoulder in comfort. Never thought of as a teddy bear or even someone good enough to give comfort. But nevertheless, he tried to ease the tension on him by softening next to Sloane. It was weird, even with his siblings they rarely hugged. “Um, no problem” he whispered back. Taking the wet napkins and discarding them on the table. “Yeah let’s get you to your room” he cleared his throat.

His hand moved to her shoulder to direct her away from the pool. “Yeah, you’re going to follow me, Sloane” he laughed weakly. “What’s your room number?” He asked when they were exiting the pool.

Sloane’s drunk self smiled mischeviously at Lawson, putting her pointer finger on his chest and leaning real close “You’d like me to keep complimenting you wouldn’t you?” She squinted her eyes at him inquiringly. Then with a huff, she lost the energy to keep the playfulness up, so she swayed back a little, like she needed to lay down but really didn’t want to. Drunk Sloane was very similar to a stubborn 6 year old. “And that was NOT common sense that was like-” She tried to find the word she meant to use “Intelligent or something like that” She brought her attention back to him.

“That would be really nice Lawson” She furrowed her eyebrows, a bit confused but mostly happy and greatful for the offer. He knew just as well as she did, if not MORE, how aggressive the press can get when there is a story as hot and scandalous as a family on top, falling to the bottom. “I don’t understand why you’d want to help me like that” She didn’t mean to think that out loud, but it just slipped out.

Sloane broke the hug to smile at Lawson, She’d never smiled this much at him in all their years of knowing each other. “Yeah, I’m sleepy! I want to take a nap like REALLY bad” She emphasized the word far more than she needed to, and even drug it out. Sloane let him direct her easily “I’m room 1409, Thanks Lawson, are we friends now? I don’t have to be mean to you anymore right? I don’t like being mean to you.” She frowned looking up at him, she was relying on him to stay standing by leaning into him “Well, maybe sometimes a do, but only when its not real mean, I like being fun mean to each other.” She confessed as they walked to her room.
