Louise | 1282 comments April Mini Challenge
Choice A: Stick around to see if you can help

1A* read a book with a phone on the cover
2A* read a book with a police car, officer, or station on the cover
3A* read a book with phone, telephone, call, or police in the title
4A* read a book with H-A-T in the title (doesn't need to be in that order)
5A* read a book where the first word in the text starts with H
6A* read a book where the title starts with A
7A* read a book with an author name (first or last) starts with T Tina

Next Option
A1 - Now that you have called the police, you become curious. You find a spot where you can't be seen to watch what happens next:
you can choose these A1 tasks, or go to A2 tasks - DON'T DO BOTH

8A1* read a book with hide or hiding in the title
9A1* read a book with a street scene on the cover
10A1* read a book with glasses on the cover
11A1* read a book with a grey cover
12A1* choose a detective to help you by reading a book from a UNO team name series (e.g. Inspector Maigret, Cormoran Strike etc.)
13A1* read a book with a detective (amateur slueth or professional)
14A1* read a book with a brown cover

OR

A2: Go to the person that was hit by the car and try and give medical aid
Spell-it-out! The non-uno letters of MEDICAL AID (M, D, C, A, L)
you can choose these A2 tasks, or do the above A1 tasks - DON'T DO BOTH
8A2*: M
9A2*: D
10A2*: C
11A2*: A
12A2*: L
13A2*: read a book with a person (head-toe) on the cover
14A2*: read a book with red writing on the cover

Louise | 1282 comments Take a look at Option A tasks; let us know what you can do.

We have a choice then between A1 and A2 tasks..

I'm thinking A2 would be easier.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) A2 does look easier.

message 254: by Rina (new)

Rina I agree.

message 255: by Tina (new)

Tina | 768 comments I agree, I prefer A2.

The book I'm Reading at the moment can work for 7A.
Maybe Matt's Miracle by Tammy Falkner

message 256: by DoodlePanda (last edited Apr 15, 2019 01:33PM) (new)

DoodlePanda I have been sick the last week and haven't been able to read much. Feeling better now so hopefully my reading will get back on schedule too. The book I'm currently reading can work for both
8A2*: M
and
10A2*: C

message 257: by Carlie (new)

Carlie (carlie892) | 159 comments The book I’m reading now (A Court of Frost and Starlight) counts for 4A - book with H A T in the title.

message 258: by Dima (new)

Dima | 442 comments A is good with me too

message 259: by Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (last edited Apr 17, 2019 08:33AM) (new)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I'm finding it a bit confusing. Do we only do the tasks for the small section,

A2: Go to the person that was hit by the car and try and give medical aid
Spell-it-out! The non-uno letters of MEDICAL AID (M, D, C, A, L)
you can choose these A2 tasks, or do the above A1 tasks - DON'T DO BOTH 8A2*: M 0
9A2*: D 0
10A2*: C 0
11A2*: A 0
12A2*: L 0
13A2*: read a book with a person (head-toe) on the cover The Wicked Deeds of Daniel Mackenzie Dima 4/16 Female on cover head to toe 10
14A2*: read a book with red writing on the cover 0
Move to Choice A2a A2b

And not any others?

message 260: by Rina (last edited Apr 17, 2019 09:04AM) (new)

Rina We chose A stream, so we only use sheet for the A stream.

There we need to complete the first 7 tasks (1A - 7A, rows 6-12). Then we chose to go to A2, so we need to tasks for this option: 8A2 - 14A2.
And we still have to choose between A2a and A2b and then once more. So we have 4 sets of tasks.
And after that we can duplicate 10 of our tasks to get more points.

I hope this makes sense.

message 261: by Rina (last edited Apr 17, 2019 09:07AM) (new)

Rina Do we want to choose our next set?

It would be

A2a - It seems CPR is working. You are relieved to see hear their heartrate is steadily getting stronger

15A2a*: read a book with 101-150 pages
16A2a*: read a book with 151-200 pages
17A2a*: read a book with 201-250 pages
18A2a*: read a book with 251-300 pages
19A2a*: read a book with 301-350 pages
20A2a*: read a book with 351-400 pages
21A2a*: read a book with 401-450 pages
22A2a*: read a book with more than 450 pages

OR

A2b - You realise the pedestrian is your mortal enemy, and so you decide to not give CPR (queue melodramatic music)

Spell-it-out! The non-uno letters of MELODRAMATIC (M,L,D,R,A,M,A,C)
15A2b*: M
16A2b*: L
17A2b*: D
18A2b*: R
19A2b*: A
20A2b*: M
21A2b*: A
22A2b*: C

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I sort of get it :0) Thanks for explaining further.

message 263: by Rina (new)

Rina Erin, could you please add Fading Away to your uno shelf? Thank you :-)

message 264: by Tina (new)

Tina | 768 comments I vote for A2b.

Sure!

message 266: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda Tina wrote: "I vote for A2b."

Seems like the easier option :)

I thought so too, that's why I voted for that:)

DoodlePanda I can read Anchor Leg for 6A* read a book where the title starts with A

Great, I'll put it on the spreadsheet.

Louise | 1282 comments Heads up on our next selection:
If we go for Option A2a our next choices are

A2aa - The pedestrian sits up suddenly and you realise... GASP... it is love at first sight!
"If you did the A2 and A2a tasks, you can choose these A2aa tasks, or the A2bb tasks - DON'T DO BOTH.
23A2aa*: read a book with sexy man on the cover
24A2aa*: read a book with a sexy woman on the cover
"25A2aa*: read a book with 'love"" in the text or title"
26A2aa*: read a book where there is love at first sight
27A2aa*: read a book where there is a passionate love scene
28A2aa*: read a book with a heart on the cover
29A2aa*: read a book with a pink cover
30A2aa*: read a book with a couple kissing on the cover

OR

A2ab - The pedestrian sits up suddenly and you realise... GASP... it is someone you met recently through Tinder!
"If you did the A2 and A2a tasks, you can choose these A2ab tasks, or the A2aa tasks - DON'T DO BOTH.

23A2ab*: read a book where a character goes on a date
24A2ab*: read a book where a character meets someone on the internet
25A2ab*: read a book with a female on the cover with long hair
26A2ab*: read a book with a fabulous dress on the cover
27A2ab*: read a book where a character has an affair
28A2ab*: read a book with someone who has never been married
29A2ab*: read a book with a passionate reunion
30A2ab*: read a book with romance MPG

message 271: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1282 comments A2b opens up the following path:

A2ba - The pedestrian dies and you need to get away quickly before anyone notices you were there!!
Connect a book to a book in the series of a team name by finding something common (e.g. read a book with the same number of pages, same publication date, a similar item on the cover, cover colour etc. Feel free to be creative, but justify your reason). If your team name does not have 5 books in the series, you can re-use another book in the series for the purposes of the task (i.e. book #1, 2,3 or 4 can be connected to again)
"If you did the A2 and A2b tasks, you can choose these A2ba tasks, or the A2bb tasks - DON'T DO BOTH.

Do NOT do these tasks if you chose A1 or A2a above"
23A2ba*: Connect a book to book #1 in the series of your team name
24A2ba*: Connect a book to book #2 in the series of your team name
25A2ba*: Connect a book to book #3 in the series of your team name
26A2ba*: Connect a book to book #4 in the series of your team name
27A2ba*: Connect a book to book #5 in the series of your team name
28A2ba*: Connect a book to book #1 in the series of A DIFFERENT team name
29A2ba*: Connect a book to book #2 in the series of A DIFFERENT team name
30A2ba*: Connect a book to book #3 in the series of A DIFFERENT team name

OR

A2bb - The pedestrian wakes up, recognises you and grabs you around the throat trying to strangle you! You kick, punch, and run away!
"If you did the A2 and A2b tasks, you can choose these A2bb tasks, or the A2ba tasks - DON'T DO BOTH.

Do NOT do these tasks if you chose A1 or A2a above"
23A2bb*: read a book where a character is in a fight
24A2bb*: read a book with Suspense as the MPG
25A2bb*: read a book where a character does the wrong thing
"26A2bb*: read a book with ""bad"" in the text or title"
"27A2bb*: read a book with ""wrong"" in the text or title"
"28A2bb*: read a book with ""kick"" in the text or title"
29A2bb*: read a book where someone thought to be dead, is actually alive
30A2bb*: read a book with red writing on the cover

message 272: by Tina (new)

Tina | 768 comments The tasks for A2bb sounds more fun, but perhaps they are tougher to do?

message 273: by Rina (new)

Rina I think A2bb are easier than A2ba, so I'll vote A2bb.

message 274: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda I'm OK with either :D
A2bb seems a good one though!

message 275: by Carlie (new)

Carlie (carlie892) | 159 comments Once we decide on our official path, should we make a clean post with just the challenges we need to complete, so no one accidentally reads for the wrong challenges? It’s a bit confusing having all of the options mixed together :)

message 276: by Rina (new)

Rina We can do that, sure.

I blackened the not needed tasks from the first two options on the spreadsheet yesterday.

message 277: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1282 comments Once I'm back from the Vet's this evening, I'll update Msg 6 on the first page with what has been done and what is still needed.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Rina wrote: "We can do that, sure.

Thanks!

message 279: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda Yea that would be great to see just the ones we need, easy to get it muddled up!
(doesn't take a lot for my brain to get confused in the first place :P )

message 280: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1282 comments Tasks are updated in msg 6, I've also hidden the unnecessary tasks in the spreadsheet 😊

message 281: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda Perfect! Thank you! <3

message 282: by Tina (new)

Tina | 768 comments Ah, it's so frustrating! I don't have access to my computer this weekend and I can't go to any of the previous pages in this discussion through my phone:( I've just finished my book (will update on Tuesday) and now I don't know what to read next! I can't see what we need:(

message 283: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda are you able to open the spreadsheet on your phone?

message 284: by Tina (new)

Tina | 768 comments Yes, now that I can reach it from the last page of this conversation. Thank you so much:)

message 285: by Tina (new)

Tina | 768 comments I can read In the Band (Luminescent Juliet, #1) by Jean Haus by Jean Haus. According to Tineye it's 78% red and it's the 1st book of the series (hand 12). I don't know yet for the mini challenge, but I'll let you know how we can use it.

Carlie (carlie892) | 159 comments Sorry if this is a dumb question, but where do you find a book’s MPG?

message 288: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1282 comments When you open the book's main page with the synopsis on it it is the shelves on the right hand side of the page

Tina | 768 comments Ok, I can finish one more book this month and I can't find that the following tasks are taken:
3A
5A
24A2bb

Is that correct? Can I choose any of the tasks? Or should I just read for duplicates?
