Share the top three books you read this month! How was your start to the year in terms of reading?

message 2: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments - System Apocalypse Series (Books 1-5) by Tao Wong
- Threadbare Series (1-3) by Andrew Seiple
- The Completionist Chronicles (1-2.5) by Dakota Krout

My top 3 are all LitRPG series. =)

Honorable Mentions:
- Reality Dysfunction by Peter Hamilton
- Wicked King by Holly Black
- Iliad by Homer (Richmond Lattimore Translation, Narrated by Charlton Griffin)

Currently reading a book that should be on this list but I haven't finished it yet. ;)

message 3: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasaleem) | 684 comments I didn't love many of the books I read this month, except The Raven Boys ! I tend to avoid hyped up books till the hype has died down a bit, but this was such a surprise! I'm glad I went into it knowing nothing, because I don't usually pick up paranormal - so I wouldn't have picked this up otherwise.

Overall it's been a good reading month. I read every week that I was free.

message 7: by Tammie (last edited Jan 31, 2019 09:02AM) (new)

Tammie | 5952 comments I had a great January! All of the books I read ended up being 4 star reads, which is weird for me because there are usually some 3s in there.

1. Reread of Theft of Swords. Still a favorite!
2. Silence Fallen Mercy is always great, but this ended up being one of my favorite books in the series.
3. Already Gone I was completely surprised at how much I loved this book, since contemporary teen novels aren't usually my thing.

message 9: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments Most of my reading this year so far has been re-reads. But, I've been enjoying the hell out of them.

Red Sister
Gardens of the Moon
The Alloy of Law

Other than those, I've tried some shorts with varied results. I will give an honorary mention to the new issue of Grimdark Magazine though:
Grimdark Magazine Issue #18

The short story by Peter McLean blew me away so much that I bought the novel ;)

4* The Six Wives of Henry VIII (history)

message 12: by Lou (new)

Lou (aliceinbagend) Out of the 11 books I read in January, here's my favourite 3!

(2 fantasy, 1 comedy)

message 13: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments It was just an okay month since I was barely able to read more than two four-star books, while dropping four series. My faves:
Fire & Blood
Jade City
Gods, Monsters, and the Lucky Peach
