Amazon exiles discussion

This might be just about the longest title we have ever had for Fave artists, and I may well be in the unique position of never having heard any of them.

Four bands/artists who I have to assume are all connected in some way, but I have no idea what that connection would be, no doubt Tim will enlighten us.

Usual rules then, noms close at 10 pm on Sunday, youtube link, etc, etc.

@Spacepig - YMG, a post punk band, were formed out of the ruins of True Wheel in 1978, by Alison Statton & the two Moxham Brothers Stuart & Philip, and briefly an electronics engineer Peter Joyce, who was responsible for the synths in YMG's music. After YMG broke up, The Moxham brothers founded The Gist & Statton went to create Weekend (with Philip on bass). Statton left the music business in the 1990's & went on teach Tai Chi & later became a chiropractor, which she still does today. YMG has reunited on several occasions, for live performances, the last & final performance being Aug 2015. As for The Gist...never heard anything of that band!

Think Duke has covered most of it. But.... I forgot to mention some other Alison Statton related projects, so feel free to investigate those too.

Firstly, she made a couple of albums as Devine & Statton with the guitarist from Ludus.

Second, a few records as Alison Statton & Spike (I think). Spike being one of the guys from Weekend.

As close a race as we have had I think, sharing the same points, but with two top places to one, our winner this week is the Duke's nom, N.I.T.A. Pipped into second it's Johnny with Click Talk. And most surprisingly of all (to me anyway), Spacepig grabs the bronze with A View From Her Room.

I know they are quite popular around here, and I thought they were OK, just found the singer's voice a bit hard work.

Weirdly enough, Alison is (without really trying) perhaps the most influential vocal stylist since Jagger/Lennon/Reed.
