T.J. Gorton | 5 comments I have been trying to link my blog/website to my Author Page, with zero success. The URL appears OK in the box as http://tjgorton.wordpress.com/onlythe... but nothing syncs. Could someone advise me on how to do this?
many thanks
Ted Gorton (T.J. Gorton)

Richard (smashed-rat-on-press) | 34 comments FWIW... The RSS feed you linked to seems to contain nothing, it's empty. There is a valid XML file at the feed URL, but it contains only meta-data, so there's apparently nothing to fetch. Perhaps try a new posting into your blog and make sure the feed is getting generated.

Thank you Richard. I am afraid I am as non-techie as they come, so FWIW and XML and meta-data are all Greek to me (actually I can do Greek but not that stuff). The link is from a page on my Wordpress site; I just added something to the page in question and it still doesn't show up on Goodreads.

Richard (smashed-rat-on-press) | 34 comments O, sorry... "FWIW": for what it's worth...

Hmm... It's probably time to find a Wordpress guru... There might be something you need to do on the site to hook up an RSS feed on your site, so that it gets picked up.

Your main site, which seems to be: https://tjgorton.wordpress.com/ has an RSS feed that appears valid, and what's posted there is from 2015, nothing new.

This URL: https://tjgorton.wordpress.com/onlyth... does not have a valid feed associated with it.

Unfortunately, I'm not a Wordpress person, but I hope you find someone who can help...

Thank you Paul, I tried https://tjgorton.wordpress.com/onlyth... ("onlythedead" being the page I want to link to)
and it did not show up on Goodreads, but in the RSS BOT is defines it as "Comments on [my blog]". I want it to link to the actual site page rather than comments. Is this possible?

Paul Wilhelm (pjwilhelm) | 7 comments I looked at the RSS link on your blog page and in the midst of all the html coding, the link they use is:

https://tjgorton.wordpress.com/feed/

You can try that one (without the "atom" on the end), but if it doesn't work, you may have to try the original link I posted because I think your feed defaults to "onlythedead."

The only way to know for sure is to test it.

Good luck.

Thanks again Paul! it works but defaults to the main page of my site rather than the "onlythedead" page I wanted... I guess Wordpress does not want to feed sub-pages (or something). anyway grateful for your help

Paul Wilhelm (pjwilhelm) | 7 comments Having taken a closer look at your webpage, I think I see what you are trying to do, but I am not sure how to do it except for to use the https://tjgorton.wordpress.com/onlyth... in place of your webpage link instead of trying to post a single page as a blog feed.

Or, am I completely misunderstanding your intentions?

I have given up trying to get Goodreads to replicate a page in my site, and just used the basic link without "onlythedead"/ I then edited the homepage so it sends people to where I want them. Thanks for trying to get this Luddite to make things happen!

Paul Wilhelm (pjwilhelm) | 7 comments You are welcome. Sorry it didn’t turn out the way you wanted, but at least you managed a workaround on the other end.
