What kind of reader are you?

I am the bibliophilia, aka the bookworm, the nitpicker, aka the critic, and the explorer, aka the risk-taker

Also, if it's a word, I'm a variety-spicer (As in variety is the spice of life) because I like to read over a wide canvas. Fiction, Non-fiction, classics, genre, Comic-books and many others all feature on my shelve.

I am the Bookworm and the Risk-Taker. I love every genre, and hop back and forth between them all the time. I also can't go a day without reading a chapter....or ten. ;)

I love reading books and prefer it to watching television, listening to the radio or playing games. Any genre, as long as it it technically well-written and entertaining.
That said; I have four adult children and four grandchildren whom I visit, or am being vistied by, often, enjoy a fairly active social life, and am prone to hop in the car for a spontaneous road trip now and then.
As a result, it usually takes me anywhere from a week to a month to finish a book.

The Over-indulger, aka the re-reader
The Explorer aka the risk-taker (btw in this section you spelled 'comfort' as 'comfit' - sorry to point it out!)
I'm a bit of them all, tbh, but those three are the most prominent in my attitude :)

I agree that many of the top sellers are not quality books, Ash, but that does not stop me from reading everything and anything I can get my hands on, searching for the diamond in the rough! Those diamonds are still out there.

I'm tired of books that are downers. There's plenty bad news around without searching out more. I'm tired of books that are sappy and predictable, books that are too long for what's in them, pretentious books that are full of tedious, self-aware, overindulgent, "serious" fiction, books that "everybody's" reading, and books where anything can happen because it's a fantasy and the author can simply pull a rabbit out of a hat at will.
I like a story with absorbing characters. I like a story I can get lost in. I like stories that are "different," that have unexpected surprises and don't click down to the end using a tired formula. I like a story which I'm sorry to finish and wish there were more. I treasure a (good) series where there IS more. I like (and often review) indie novels which are diamonds in the rough and could use the encouragement.
This topic got me going. I'm sorry!

Gotta agree with Ash - I work hard on my novels and I'm flummoxed when I read some best selling novel that is poorly written. It seems so unfair.

labels on boxes, instructions on someone else's pamphlet, a dirty piece of paper on the ground--if it has words, I'll read it.
If I'm watching a television program and the characters are in a room with a wall of books behind them, I faze out on what they're talking about and wonder what's inside those pages behind them, or I try to read the titles if the camera gets close enough. When I was four, I read an entire shorthand book out of curiosity.
I'm sad, I know.

I LOVE to read, mostly fiction, as it's a source of immense happiness for me, and do so everyday.
Plus I very much enjoy re-reading my favourite books several times.
Moreover, with so many books out there, and not as much time as I would have liked, to read, I can be at times a kind of an 'Elitist' as well.
That is, I usually like to do a detailed research on the author's writing style and his or her books/series before getting involved in reading.
Anyway, I found the blog post very interesting ...and am thoroughly enjoying this discussion :-)
I am an Explorer with a little of the Devotee.....
