Kari | 73 comments I have a specific craving for a fantasy along the lines of Becky Chambers' The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. Something kind of light, fun, optimistic. Bonus points for an emphasis on different races and how they interact.

(Close example: I read and loved The Goblin Emperor)

I'll try to think if there's anything more targeted for you that involves different social groups/fantasy races!

I gladly recommend The Ruins of Gorlan and Theft of Swords and The Palace Job. They are all series, so if you like them, your next book will be easy to find.

Oh, thank you for the links! I was looking to see if something similar had been asked before, but I guess I didn't look back enough! :)

Those all look really intriguing! The Palace Job especially looks up my alley with the ensemble cast thing. (I love the show Leverage; the title and description makes me think of a fantasy version of that.) Do you know if it's straight-up humor or if there's some emotional stakes as well? Either is fine; I'm just curious what to expect. Thanks so much for the recs!
