I do appreciate what you are saying Brian, I unfortunately couldn't use your amazon link as I'm in Australia and they don't let me use amazon.com.
I too am thankful that you and the others put all that work into the site for so many years, and I'm sorry that you're having to deal with all our disappointment, as well as your own :(

FictFact, I loved you!

I'm going to be on vacation for two weeks. When I get back, let's see what we can put together!

The import functionality was less than thorough...
But I'm missing my book release calendar view :(

What I valued most about fictfact was this feature. I could select just my book series and could opt to see all if I wanted too. Every other new release notification seems just like an ad or marketing ploy to sell more books vs basic information that I want to see. If it’s my series, then I’m going to buy it in my own good time...

Yes I am sad to lose that information also.

It is amazing how much I have come to realize I relied on Fictfact. I have finished a few books and went to figure out what to read next. I just have no clue and haven't read anything in weeks.

Me; I created a spreadsheet of all my books & use highlight colors to indicate a book is needed, a different color to show I’ve ordered, another color for a book I’ve read- & didn’t like- lol - & books I read & didn’t keep!!

I'll focus on the Next books list and Book Release Calendar to begin with and we'll go from there.
Are there any other features you think are absolutely essential? Any suggestions welcome!

Go, Thenia! Keep us updated @ SOS 😁

Let me know if you need any help. Not good at coding, but can do a lot with WordPress.
As for features, Next Books and the Book Release calendar, of course. I used the series lists extensively and loved being able to sort in the list by the percentage read. That's the biggest problem I'm having right now.
Some way of keeping track where a given book is located, whether in a library or on a shelf at home, would be nice, but I'd have to be able to sort by library. Although, I'm in kind of an unusual position in that I have access to lots of different libraries.

If you need any help scouting out older books/series, let me know.

Thank you so much for undertaking this! Please keep me in the loop, and if you ever need an admin. asst's, skills, please call on me.

I am at work and the computers are old and only have excel viewer on them. In the next day or so I will get mine organized and post a link.

I'll have a look. I'm slowly teaching myself to use a spreadsheet but just have basic "next book" info on it. It'll be interesting to see how others have set theirs up.

The only ones in the file were ones that you'd marked as "read" or "to be read", not all the ones you were following. I'm slowly rebuilding my list using a spreadsheet but it's slow going.

I will most likely take you up on your offers of help once I have a handle on what's needed to get the site up and running.
Stay tuned!

One thing I have not been able to find is a source for series to get a feed from.

I believe fict fact was doing most additions manually, but would pull book descriptions and such through amazon.

You can find it here.
Please copy your data below the last row and don't worry too much about duplicate entries, since this will be used to test the new process initially and afterwards will be cleaned to serve as the base for the new database.
Thank you all in advance!

I have over 2000 books on the FictFact download. Should I add them all?

Hi Thenia!
I didn’t have any info in FicFact that recently closed, but I’d like to join FicFact 2.0that you all are working on and begin to track my series.’ Is it possible? What do you advise?

How did you look up the series and bookmark them?

I've been able to somewhat recreate that in Excel using Named Ranges, Data Validation and Indirect. It's not exactly the same thing and I have to manually add new books, new series I start, etc. But at least now I once again have a list I can scroll through when I finish one book and am trying to decide what I want to read next.

Yes please!

You are more than welcome to join us when we get the new site up and running!
While it's under construction, you can help by adding books that you've read that belong in a series in our database. I have marked the necessary fields in green. If you are adding books one by one, I would suggest filtering by the series and author's name first so that you can check if the book has already been added.

Yes please!
I added them, but it seems as if my data is off by a column. I'm just learning my way around spreadsheets (steep learning curve!!) so I'm not sure how to move the series name from the Date Added column to the proper one without messing up the rest of the books.

I have warn you my fiction reading is narrow. I read M/M Romance and M/F Historical romance, but the overwhelming series’ that I’m I’m involved with fall into M/M Romance genre.

That's my bad - I used an amended version of the export. I'll fix it now to fit the original so that people won't need to tweak their exports to fit.
Sorry about that and thanks for adding your books!

I'm a web developer (mostly PHP/SQL, but also javascript, including jquery and angular, and some python.) I'd love to help get this back up and running.
