Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments This is what Tablet- a new read on Jewish life, had to say about James' favourite author Norman Finklestein:

"For three decades, Norman Finkelstein has been the American Jewish community’s problem-child—denounced as a hysteric, a marginal ideologue, and a self-hating Jew. Selfless and vain, highly emotional—sometimes hysterical—in tone yet relentlessly logical in his arguments, he is now an academic with a doctorate from Princeton whose attacks on “the Holocaust Industry” and public cheerleading for Hezbollah have rendered him so toxic that he can’t obtain even the lowliest adjunct teaching position at any community college in America."

Which leads to an open minded and fair interview:

I would like to clarify that that's the other James in this group and not me!

And yeah, Finklestein is commonly known in the Jewish community as a self-loathing Jew. Anyway, I would argue with him being Jewish he's aloud his opinions on the matter, but any non-Jew who is promoting Finklestein's books is most likely a closet anti-Semite.

message 64: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimliedeka) I don't think a person's character invalidates their opinions. None of us are saints. I think it's more important to analyze someone's arguments and see how much they agree with facts that can be ascertained.

I don't approve of Israel's treatment of Palestine but I'm not anti-Semitic. Beside the fact that Palestinians are also Semitic, just not Jewish, they would probably be doing the same to the Jews if the shoe were on the other foot. It's an imperfect universe.

I should clarify, the people in power would fuck with the powerless, regardless. That seems to be the one universal human truth. Sad, really.

To your first post Lance: I'd like to break this down a bit to better understand. First, what would the definition of a 'Fairer Society' be? What is that exactly? Sounds nice, but how do we do that and what does it look like? 'Fairer' in what way?

Secondly, 'Every citizen is truly equal' is equally broad and what you're getting at is not clear. If we use the Christian perspective that we are all God's children and equal in his eyes, that's one thing. From that perspective, we should all love and respect each other equally. OK. But here in our worldly reality, obviously we all are not equal in so many ways. Obviously, we cannot 'make' people equal. This sounds like an Obama redistributionist theory which is only a recipe for tyranny. i haven't read all the threads on this so maybe I missed it in there.

My point being, that when we speak, we need to have clarity and specificity to avoid being misinterpreted an thus we can get to the point directly and hopefully accomplish the intended goal ASAP!

So, back to your point, if everybody had a 'fair shot' and 'equal opportunity' to accomplish their dreams, yes, that's certainly a worthy goal.

My book addresses how we are suppressed and robbed by the operation of law and we don't even know what's being done to us. This also involves the false money system that we all operate under (it's 'credit and negotiable instruments', acting as 'money' when it's not really. This brings us under the "Law Merchant" which is why we don't have any rights, only benefits and privileges which are regulated by contract. But that's another story.

Bottom Line (finally eh?) Yes! A more 'Fair' and 'Equal' opportunity for us all to achieve our dreams would be nice. And it will never be possible until people understand the issues raised in my book.

Sorry about the self promotion, but I wrote this to help people understand, and this thread is the perfect place to present the ideas and issues contained therein.

Thanks for the opportunity and Best Wishes to all! One Freeman's War: In the Second American Revolution

Mark (markemery) | 14 comments Harry wrote: "Clark, although I agree with you about people leaning and not achieving in our present society, I believe that's symptomatic of the rich/poor world we have. For me, all basic human needs should be ..."

Harry, your philosophy is flawed (yet desirable) in this way: In order to 'give' you first must 'have'. Or, in the alternative as the government does things, must 'take'. So since none us us 'has' much more than we need to survive (by design), we obviously can't 'give' to where it's needed. This then only leaves the government to 'take' from those who 'have'. Now, when the producers of the world have their gains 'taken', they tend not to produce so much and the end result is that there is less and less to 'give'. So neither one of these models works as we have it now.

To achieve what you are suggesting would require that we 'break' the stranglehold that the Western Cabal has over the world, get back to an honest money system, an honest government that serves its creator (the people) and release all of the suppressed technology which has been sequestered in order to keep us all dependent.

Now this is a pretty tall order, but anything short of that is just talk and folly. We will not do it with the systems that are in place right now especially when they are controlled by the money powers.

You want to see some people who have broken the 'bankers code' and the system which the cabal imposed on us? It's quite liberating. But it was too few people to succeed in the end. More people need to catch on. The path is laid and the map is clear.

Again, it's all laid out in my book. It's important stuff. I hope you can read it sometime.

message 82: by Mark (new)

Mark (markemery) | 14 comments James Morcan wrote: "Harry wrote: "War, what is it good for?..."

Absolutely nothing."

I beg to differ James: War is very good for business on one hand, if you are in 'that' business. Munitions are quite profitable you know. And all that 'recovery' and 'reconstruction', extremely profitable with all the consulting and construction contracts involved.

Then there is the financial end of things. If you can manage to finance both sides of the war, you will most certainly create huge indebtedness to your credit, which will not only bring you riches, but also political power and control over whomever is able to survive the other in the war. And of course the survivor controls the loser, so the financier ends up controlling 'both'! Nifty!

So then, war can be very good for business and future 'interests' if you are properly positioned.

Taking this one step further, in the operation of law, 'War' creates a 'state of emergency'. In a 'state of emergency' all normal legislative powers are suspended and we then move into a 'War Powers' mode which gives certain political figures unusual and extraordinary powers that don't normally come with the legislative powers granted in peacetime.

Have you heard of any well known political figures recently conducting extraordinary acts of legislation with only his 'pen and his phone'?

Have you ever considered that the USA has been in a perpetual state of War since LBJ?

War on poverty
War on drugs
War in Iraq
War here, there and everywhere
War on terrorism
War on women
etc.

Why? Now you know....

Do you ever feel like you don't have any rights anymore? Yes, because you don't! We're in a state of war, operating under the Law Merchant and Emergency Powers!

But then, whenever someone starts talking of 'the law' peoples' eyes glaze over and they start thinking about their picnic this weekend.

Thus, we all stay comfortably in 'the corral'.

Blessings.

Hi Mark - The definition of “a fairer society” is pretty straight forward I’d have thought. It’s one where 99% of the world’s wealth isn’t in the hands of the 1% (the global elite); where women have equal rights; where First World nations don’t plunder the resources of Third World nations; where people aren’t discriminated against because of their color or their religion; where the citizens, not the politicians, decide whether we go to war (by referendum perhaps) etc. etc.

Regarding equality, we obviously don’t refer to how we appear to God’s eyes. We cannot 'make' people equal, but I believe the power ultimately does lie with the people. If we the people don’t act to promote a fairer society, no-one else will. Certainly not the politicians or the puppetmasters. Maybe that’s where this group can perform a service to society…

I agree we need to have clarity and specificity. Never a truer word!

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said 'it's up to the people'. Our society has been fractured into splinter groups, all fighting against each other for power and recognition in the political arena and in the process we have forgotten our common roots, values and objectives. This is how the cabal defeats us (one of the ways anyway). Individually, we have been isolated into 'units' just trying to survive (due to the false money system) and with the little time and resources we have left, we spend it on video games, entertainment and consumption. So the challenge is to properly educate and motivate 'the new culture' so people can get off their 'duff', get involved in community, 'Just say "NO" when required and be pro-active in working toward common interests. No small order but I DO think people are starting to wake up to some degree and all society needs for change is an energetic 1% to 3%. Let's get busy!

message 86: by Laureen (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments OK I understand that. However, I think we would probably end up in an even bigger mess. One cannot be taught "common sense". Also, most people in the West have been taught that success equates to possessions.

I have also watched as groups of people with particular agendas protest outside Parliament and these groups are pushing a barrow of their own. Even if the cause can be construed as a good one, I believe they like the notoriety it brings them and the feeling of brotherhood and belonging it gives them. If we really want to help the world, we have to examine closely all our motives for our actions and beliefs. We do not want to create anarchy. Can we, the people, act for the betterment of mankind? How do you think those who we are suspicious of got to be powerful. They, at one stage of their life were you and me; ordinary people - the public.

In effect, we have to become entirely unselfish. Now most people would say they are not selfish. However I think it is one of man's flaws and to eradicate it, we have to turn to our inner selves and ask for guidance. At no time on Earth will all of the people at the same time be blessed with wisdom so who do you choose to speak in our name?

Simple! Your taxes and the people's taxes pay for the war machine. Maybe we would have a lesser proportion of our income in taxes to pay if there were less wars OR we could pay the same taxes but have it channelled into helping those who most need it through no fault of their own.

Absolutely - the Military Industrial Complex is bankrupting the Western world. And no country more so than America, unfortunately.
And you're right: How can there be such a gigantic war machine with no expense spared and then governments tell us not all of those less fortunate than us in society can be provided for.

Mark, I'm surprised you haven't noticed just how much money is spent on the military, and how there is always money to be found in this sector of government whilst the lower stratas are stuck in poverty without a living wage and the necessities of life.

Taxes should be spent on necessities like food, water, housing and energy? Jeez, what a controversial idea!

I want to build a world on common sense that benefits everyone.
