The roads here are made of dirt and are seldom traveled. The people prefer to wander through the fields to get places. Sometimes there are dead bodies of people killed in fights on the roads. These bodies have nothing to do with the Council.

The Police have no presence here, and there are fewer, but still some, Council Spies here. There are sometimes public demonstrations here, but the Council does not believe that an uprising could possibly happen from here.

Roleplay!

Amber followed Val to the road, walking briskly to keep up.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Val had practically been running. "Thank the heavens we've escaped him!"

"He was a bit creepy..." Amber admitted.

"No, you don't say," Val said sarcastically.

Amber rolled her eyes at Val. "And he kept laughing. What were we doing that was so funny?"

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

((It's fine))

"I don't even know!" Val agreed. At Amber's expression, she found herself almost collapsing from a fit of giggles. In fact, she attempted to use Amber to hold herself up. Then, however, she realized that she was not, in fact, standing, and that she had pulled Amber down with her. This only served to make her giggle even harder. A tear streamed down her cheek entirely due to her laughter, and her stomach cramped from it as well, but it just wouldn't cease though it was a bit less incessant at that point.

Amber let loose a string of obscenities as she was pulled down with Val, and they collapsed on the floor in a tangled heap. "Jesus, Valentine! What is it with you and pulling me to the floor?" Amber remained serious only for a moment, however, for Val's laughter seemed to be contagious. "Stop," she commanded, trying not to giggle (and failing miserably). "Val! I mean it-" That was as far as Amber got before she, too, was giggling.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Val accidentally rolled over on top of Amber in a particularly heavy round of giggles amidst her fit. She sobered slightly when she felt the other girl beneath her. Her eyes gleaming with mischief, she tickled Amber's sides. She grinned proudly, and in her amusement, her laughter resumed. Not too long after starting, her giggle attack was back on fully and caused her to once again collapse on Amber.

Amber did not enjoy being tickled. "You little-" She let the ending of that sentence be determined by Val's imagination, proceeding to scramble on top of the other girl. "Take that," Amber proclaimed. Oblivious to the dirt and muck in riddling her hair and clothes, Amber began to tickle Val.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oi!" Val protested through the spurts of giggles. She squirmed to get out from under Amber, but the other girl was both taller and heavier than she. "I surrender! I surrender!" she wheezed. Tears were streaming from her eyes. She was so distracted that she did not see the snake coming up behind Amber.

Amber made a move to get off of Val, but tensed suddenly, hearing a movement behind her. She sobered quickly, standing erect and still. "Val..." she started, eyes wide with fear. Amber noticed the other girl had stopped her laughter as well. "What's behind me?"

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Val quieted and tried to look behind Amber without moving too much in case whatever it was were dangerous. Then she spotted the snake, and her mouth opened in a silent scream. Her eyes widened. She had a phobia of snakes. It was unexplained, but nonetheless, there it was. When she had gained enough control over herself to speak, she mumbled, "Snake."

"Do you think it's poisonous?" Amber asked. She knew how terrified Val must have been at the moment, so she tried to remain as calm as possible to ease the other girl's nerves, aside from the fact that she, too was pretty scared.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

"I don't know." Val's voice was unnaturally high-pitched, and she had screwed her eyes shut. She gulped. "Amber, will we be able to escape if we just run really quickly?" To her embarrassment, when she spoke that time, her voice was not only a squeak; it was a tremulous squeak.

Amber thought for a moment, mind racing. "N-no. Snakes are-" Amber took a shaky breath in an attempt to calm down. Swallowing, she continued, "Its instinct would be to chase us, and it probably moves faster." Amber closed her eyes for a moment. "Val, can you open your eyes and tell me what the snake looks like?" Amber would've turned around herself, but she was afraid of the snake's reaction to sudden movements.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Val whimpered and shook her head. "I can't." She knew she was being childish and that doing so could be important for their survival, but she was just so scared. Gulping, she asked, "What happens now? Are we stuck here for until the snake leaves?" He voice was still very shaky and breathy, and Val idly wondered if her voice sounding more confident would bolster her confidence. She figured she was not about to find the answer to the question.

"If I die, it's your fault," Amber joked weakly, opening her eyes one by one and turning slowly to face the snake. "Val, it's a rattlesnake. It-it isn't making any noise yet. We can probably go, but we'll have to, uh, to keep eye contact, and move s-slowly." Amber turned back to Val, her movements measured. "Okay?"

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Val rolled her eyes. Val took the opportunity to leap back from the snake. She wanted that monstrosity to go away more than really anything else at the moment. Once she had gotten a few feet away, she grabbed Amber's hand and started to run away as quickly as she could possibly manage.

Amber wasn't prepared to be yanked to her feet. She tripped and fell on her arse, her hands shooting out reflexively. She slowly got to her feet, trembling a bit. Amber turned around to find the snake extremely close by and inching ever nearer. "V-V-Val?" Amber whimpered.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Val turned. She was too far away to do anything to help Amber, or at least not until the snake had gotten there first. "Amber!" she called. Her eyes were wide, and her palms were sweaty. She was trembling with worry for both of their safety. Quaking even more as she got nearer, she started to step towards Amber.

Amber pulled herself to her feet. She kept her eyes on the snake, backing up several paces until she was even with Val. "Next time," she said shakily, "don't pull any stupid sh*t without letting me know first."

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

((This group also permits cursing))

Val shrugged and pouted. Now that they were a little away from the snake, she was a lot less nervous and much more her usual brash self. "What, so no pranks? You'll ruin all my fun, I'll have you know. Saying 'hey, I'm about to pull a ridiculous prank on you and half the school' is logical." Shaking her head, she added, "Not at all."

Amber smirked, glad Val had regained her sense of humor. "Although that would be nice, I simply request that you inform me of your actions during life or death situations. Other than that, feel free to do whatever the hell you wish."

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

"Good, glad we're agreed," Val said with a sharp nod. She smirked at Amber and grabbed her hand. She wasn't going to do something to the other girl yet. She wanted to be a little ways further from the snake first. Sure, it was a way away already, but it was still too close for her comfort.

"Speaking of agreement, mind if we head a ways in the other direction?" Amber suggested. She wasn't sure whether the chills that ran up her spine when Val grabbed her hand were from fear of what Val was probably going to do with her new-found strength, excitement that they were holding hands, or maybe even some strange combination of both.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Pouting, Val nodded her agreement. "Fine, be that way." She bumped her shoulder against Amber's. She wasn't doing her signature blush. She was a little too traumatized by the snake for that, so right now, she was leaving being awkward to the girl she was with. She smirked at Amber. "And why this request, dearie?"

"I mean, if you enjoyed being terrified out of your mind - and don't say you weren't, I saw you, Valentine - you can walk yourself back. I, on the other hand, am perfectly find putting as much distance between myself and that snake as possible." Amber wasn't ashamed of how scared she'd been; she found it perfectly normal to be such in life-or-death situations. "Your choice."

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

"Hey, we were already walking away from that horrifying monster," Val protested. She crossed her arms and stopped to glare at Amber. A faint blush had, however, risen to her cheeks. She didn't like the fact that Amber was now teasing her about her fear. It was embarrassing how irrational it was. She pouted at her slightly older friend. "So, where do you want to go?"

Amber shrugged. "I dunno, Val. Where would you like to go?" She almost added a snide remark about snakes, but her girlfriend was clearly shaken up by the event. Amber resolved to at least try to drop the issue until such a time when her jokes would be more appreciated.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

"Into the city again, perhaps? I don't know? Stay the night somewhere decidedly not our homes?" She wiggled her eyebrows at her girlfriend and mock-whispered, "Let's give our parents heart attacks, yeah? Send them into a panic as we hide and drink some sort of alcohol and they scour the city for us?" She winked at them.

Amber laced her fingers through Val's and swung their interlocked hands a bit into the air. "Sounds like a plan," she replied, smiling broadly. "I mean, a spontaneous outing designed to scare our parents that includes alcohol? How could I refuse?" Amber looked Val up and down and crinkled her nose. "I suppose the fact that you'll be there as well won't be too bad," she teased.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh, thanks," Val muttered sarcastically, rolling her eyes and elbowing Amber as gently as possible (as if Val would ever do that, "you flatter me oh-so-much." She smirked. "Great, head off to a market, buy some low end booze, participate in some underage drinking, and find a nice spot to hang out. That's our plan. Got any ideas?"

((Should we create some abandoned flat in some skyscraper in the MCS for them to go to?))

Amber thought for a moment and shrugged. "You're the one with all the weird booze-y connections. As far as places go, though, there's more than likely an empty flat someplace that'd suit the bill."

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Val giggled. "And likely my family knows that ought to be the first place they look." She frowned for a second and decided not to consider the implications of that particular statement. "So, you get a blanket and I find some new booze store then?"

((i won't be able to do any of the species stuff tonight by the way. my family cook out thing lasted WAY longer than i expected.))
"I suppose I can manage that," Amber said with a melodramatic sigh, as if acquiring a blanket would be the single most difficult task she could've been assigned.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

((It's completely fine))

"Great!" Val agreed enthusiastically. She grinned and patted her girlfriend on the shoulder before looking for any shop or person that could easily get alcohol for her. She spotted one man who looked like he could do it for her (so it would be hard for her parents to find her). "Well, I'm off!"

"See you in a bit," Amber replied, heading off in the general direction of a more heavily populated area. She definitely wasn't above stealing a blanket if need be, but finding a decent inexpensive one would be preferable.
